In His Own Words

  • As I mentioned, I retired in 2016 as a much-heralded police chief of Dallas Police Department for not only calming an incendiary moment in the nation after five white cops were ambushed and killed by a mentally ill African American man who wanted revenge for the shooting of unarmed African American men by police officers.

I was able to find the right words to say, threading the needle in a deeply divided country, so talking to an 11-year-old about crossing the street should be easy, right? Oh, I forgot: Michael Brown was stopped by an officer in Ferguson, Missouri for ... wait for it ... jaywalking.

It escalated into a struggle and subsequent shooting that left Brown dead, lying on the street for hours. That shooting ignited a riot, and helped give the Black Lives Matter movement a national stage.

That's right: the low-level misdemeanor crime strikes again to divide us and pick at the scab of racial inequality and fairness and justice. Like Eric Garner's "I Can't Breathe" for the low-level crime of selling loose cigarettes or whatever the hell else he was doing that wasn't worthy of a death sentence.

What about Philando Castile ... Walter Scott ... or Alton Sterling, all receiving death sentences for minor misdemeanor violations? Or the countless traffic stops that escalate to police shootings? Even the encounter at the Walmart parking lot in California last week that left another unarmed young man dead?
Leaving aside the overarching arrogance of describing himself as a "much-heralded police chief," it seems he puts far too much emphasis on the elements of the initial stops that police undertook at the direction of the elected legislature - who passed laws against jaywalking, selling loosies, selling pirated CD's - and instead blames police for how each instance ended.

Since it seems no actual Police Officer was permitted to respond to Brown's ABC article, let's just state:
  • Brown was stopped for jaywalking (misdemeanor) and resisted being detained (felony). He had also just committed a strong-armed robbery though the officer did not know this. Pieces of Brown's flesh were located inside the squad car where he was fighting the officer for his gun. Officer was cleared by Sparklefart's DOJ;
  • Garner was stopped for selling loose cigarettes (misdemeanor in New York) and decided he would fight the officers attempt to cite him (felony). He died neck compression aggravated by positional asphyxia due to his weighing 300 pounds - it wasn't "...whatever the hell else he was doing..." He was actively fighting because of a citation of all things;
  • Castile was shot during a traffic stop in which he informed officers that he had a handgun. The officer was charged after the officer contended he ordered Castile not to reach for the gun, but he did anyway;
  • Sterling was stopped for selling pirated CD's in a parking lot (misdemeanor). While fighting arrest (felony) he repeatedly reached for a loaded gun he kept in his pocket (felony) and had previously threatened passers-by with (multiple felonies). Officers were cleared by DOJ;
  • Scott was killed after fleeing a traffic stop (misdemeanor). Officer was charged, pled guilty and got twenty years of federal time.
Brown's writing as an "authority" on police procedures in other jurisdictions based solely on outcomes and not by the totality of circumstances is worrying in the extreme. In the five cases he cited, every single one of them could have been avoided by the suspects/offenders complying with lawful police orders regarding laws passed by legislatures. And in two of the cases, prosecutors brought charges for what was judged to be egregiously illegal behavior, the worst of which didn't even go to trial because it was so bad.

Jaywalking makes it sound like he was crossing the street mid-block.

He was walking straight down the center of the damn street, in traffic, all while he and his friend were 10 feet from a sidewalk. Some of the African American witnesses, who were intimidated and chose not to talk to the grand jury, in their initial statements were incredulous about Brown's attitude, including an African American driver who had to drive around him.

Most of those cases are absurd to pretend like it's the PO's fault. Castille and Scott were the only two I'd say otherwise. Castille wasn't shot due to racism but rather due to very poor execution by the officer and lack of commonality in protocol around how to interactions with concealed carriers should work due to fractured and poorly written laws on the subject.

Shooting a guy who's clearly going for a gun on video though? Give me a break. I always thought that was the example they should have just backed away from slowly to claim they had some semblance of sanity.

Also, anyone know if this dude was bought sold and paid for by Soros or someone else? I'm betting there's dirt on him much like EJ.

The Phillip Castile case was one where I really wish the officers had body cameras running.

They would have either exonerated the officer completely, or convicted him of manslaughter. None of this not guilty, but not innocent enough to continue as a police officer. The officer will always have a blot on his reputation and his life.

Please use your cameras, stay calm and cool, let the criminals hang themselves on camera.

This is from someone who was close to the case: Wilson passed Brown and the other dirtbag, with Wilson telling them from inside his cruiser to get out of the street. As Wilson pulled away, the radio traffic for the strong arm robbery came out with suspect descriptions. Gee, guess who matched those description? Yep, Brown and his buddy, so Wilson turned around to stop Brown and as Wilson was getting out of his cruiser, he was attacked by Brown. All the forensic evidence and (real) witness statements match this.

It’s been a long time since I was in the academy, but what is the policing strategy they teaching nowadays? I recall being told to stop people for the little things to give you the PC to find the guns and such. That was how you kept the community safe. The highly accomplished and decorated Brown sounds like he’s uninterested in officers enforcing the little stuff. If he doesn’t like the jaywalking, he’s certainly not going to like dispersals and anything resembling aggressive policing. Keep this editorial in mind, and don’t say he never told you what he wanted.

Supt. Brown's entire premise, in the article, of "unarmed men"is incorrect. Castile and Sterling each had a loaded handgun on their person when they died. Michael Brown was attempting to disarm a police officer. Supt. Brown's failure to properly research the facts and just spread rumors and falsehoods is very telling. How will he react to bogus stories in this city?

The proper response to the Lemon's new lapdog?

"Criminal activity comes with certain risks, including, but not limited to, arrest, prosecution, incarceration, injury, maiming, and Death. If any of this bothers you, your loved ones, or heirs: DON'T ENGAGE IN CRIMINAL ACTIVITY!"

Don't forget that the 300#'er in NY was arrested 70+ times previously. He knew the drill, and wanted to "be all dat" or whatever bullshit they believe in. All he had to do was take the ticket, and throw it out later. Whatever. But he chose to fight with a cop, and he lost. No fucks given for the criminal.

That this new Super is siding with BLM'isms only means one thing: GO MORE FETAL.

If they're going to strip ya, bust ya, charge you, sue you, imprison you, and impoverish your family for enforcing the laws the legislature wrote - then you must do what it says on the side of the car: "SERVE AND PROTECT" - starting with numero uno. Protect yourself. Screw their half-assed, "protect the tax revenues" bullshit laws about CD's, cigarettes, or whatever they concoct.

Look.
Laugh.
Wave.
Keep going.

Give them what they want: NOTHING. When it gets bad, then proceeds to worse, and becomes absolutely horrible, maybe they'll ask you to fix it, and then the proper response is: "Fuck you. Give me a contract."

My take is that I’ll give him a chance. Maybe he learned, maybe he has realized the ignorance and blatant stupidity of those comments. I doubt it, but I’m willing to give him a chance. But it’s an extremely short leash. Given his past actions and comments, I think the first slip up he makes (which I expect to be very soon) will result in confidence lost by many coppers if they ever had any in him to begin with. I personally have no faith he is going to be supportive of us. I think he will be one of the most anti-police superintendents we’ve ever had. But I’m willing to give it a chance, even if the chance of him being mediocre is only 1 in a billion. I expect to be proven right within the month unfortunately. For those of you saying “it can’t worse than Eddie”, you’re either stupid or naive. There’s always some stupid son of a bitch out there that can make things much worse. It can always get worse, and I have a feeling we are being introduced to superintendent worse. Be safe brothers and sisters.

Read between the lines ... this dude is a straight-up hater.

Someone needs to ask him why it’s only certain segments of society that always seem to have the hardest time conforming to the most basic of rules and laws. And that if they DID conform, escalation to the point of lethal force wouldn’t necessarily be the outcome. And in this vein one could present the actions of his own son as “Exhibit A”.

As for “much heralded”??? IMO, anything and everything good he may have done in his career gets flushed down the shitter when he orders a police escort for the funeral procession of a cop killer... AKA ‘Exhibit A’ as mentioned in the previous paragraph.

At the end of the day he’s just another carpetbagging figurehead puppet. Another pandering pompous clown who fits right in with our Lightfoot-Foxx carnival {Honk Honk} When is "Superintendent Urkel" scheduled to get sworn in anyway? Because it usually takes 2 months from that time for a new CPD boss to fire some poor officer on a re-opened complaint investigation and another 10 months before he/she is embroiled in some type of sex/cheating/financial scandal that would get them bounced from any other department.

BTW, on this topic of the reason for initial stops for petty offenses, don't forget CPD bosses like Bulnes, who as the tact lieutenant in 004 had her teams running up arrest stats by making dozens of arrests daily for DOPW and selling loosies. That is the only arrest some of her tact officers knew how to make. Sometimes they were locking up 72 year old men. Do you think she'll have your back if the shit hits the fan for one of these bullshit arrests?? NOT

I called ch 7 news dept yesterday & asked how come there is mention that the new Supt's son along with a accomplice shot & killed 3 people one of them being a police officer. And that his son was killed in return fired. Not only that put also his son's funeral was given a police escort.

Who ever I talked to said they were aware of the incident but it wasn't his son who fired the fatal shot, it was the other guy.

So I guess he was innocent but just happened to be there and didn't do nuthin. He was a good boy.

I have to say that I always found it easy to adjust to the political whims of the department and government in general. I had an excellent career and had the HONOR and privilege of working with the greatest men and women in law enforcement. It pains me deeply that I'm no longer on the job and enjoying retirement when so many brave men and women are going to work every day facing not only an unpredictable unknown virus, a hostile against us public (in certain areas), and (if true) a new superintendent that is (by all accounts) a left leaning SJW. Look, I was never supercop, I did my job and one thing I will brag on is that I was always there if one of my brothers and sisters needed help! When this covid19 thing happened I was talking to my old partner and I said, "if things get bad and they need retirees to come back, I'll show up for the guys". That was so easy to say because anyone who I had the privilege of working with or for knows I was always coming no matter what. Never cared about awards and credit, but only wanted us to all get home at the end of the tour. It's funny to me that the department that is SO fixated on #'s and is so demanding on meeting the "index" is also hell bent on fucking over the very people who perform for them! The job at this point is so far away from anything I recognize that there's no way in hell that (with a heavy heart) I could EVER consider coming back as some cities have been recalling retirees.i would easily go to work in another jurisdiction where they care for and support their officers before going back to the city. Funny, in the beginning of my career up to at least year 12 I knew and understood the entire command structure . By the time I hit year oh say 16 I didn't know (or care) who was between my commander and the superintendent ! It became a soup of insanity! Directors and deputy's , Chiefs and XO's. The unqualified to lead took over the department and some of the brave men and women I worked with paid the price either with their lives, freedom, or livelihood .getting back to the "index", not one "boss" (haha) EVER asked, why did your arrest numbers (in the 100's year on year) go to the almost nothing? As I wrote up top, I adjusted to the politics and what the department was doing. The bullshit training and morality testing, the constant "hug a thug" rhetoric being pushed on us wore me down and let me know exactly the direction we were headed. Look at your training record on the computer sometime...... Any one of us could be a General or a Field Marshall according to that!

I could go on but what's the point... I'm sad that I left when I did like I'm sure many others are. I wish there was something I could bo (especially now) but unfortunately this is how the world works.

Stay Safe, Back each other up, Retire (or move one) ASAP!

X

'Oh, I forgot: Michael Brown was stopped by an officer in Ferguson, Missouri for ... wait for it ... jaywalking."

--

the Ferguson cop told them to get out of the street - true. Then they more or less motherfucked the cop and gave him some typical westsider response of 'but I live right here.' But that quickly changed when the cop realized these are the guys who took the cigars in what amounted to a robbery.

so Brown thinks he's going to be fucked with by NYPD for being black since all the others jaywaling are white I presume. Seems to me a strange conclusion. 800 others out there jaywalking, assuming at least some other blacks, and BROWN stands there thinking the police are going to beat him down? Just fucking wow. He's a little off. Unless he made the whole thing up for the article - which is what I suspect.

Coronavirus pushes NBA to propose 50% player pay cuts: Report
To date, the suspension of play has cost NBA franchises millions of dollars each in lost ticket sales alone
https://www.foxbusiness.com/sports/coronavirus-nba-player-pay-cuts-50-percent

This is a great idea the mayor governor of New York has 50% of the workforce for so not getting full pay, why is the mayor of the city of Chicago and the governor allowing all of these people to use the old bullshit I’m working from home line getting full pay and benefits? The teachers the other day and clearing hit a parade about 30 to 50 cars parading through the neighborhood showing the children that they are still off work look at us we care about you why are we still paying all these teachers such a ridiculous amount of money can we cut the pay can’t we at least get rid of 50% lamb on furlough them? They have enough time to do a parade but not enough time to do any work? And all the administrators in Chicago public school system that are sitting on their asses getting these ridiculous salaries for the Chicago police officers Chicago fire department all employees are busting their ass is still putting themselves at risk without contracts without their pensions being funded? This is the typical democratic failure to manage. The taxpayers are going to be jolted big-time many people are being laid offI know quite a few people get out of work right now but yet their property tax bills were still be coming in they will have to do you have to pay them I have their homes taken away.

When I observe the teachers doing this I thought wow this is in your face to the taxpayers, some people said it was great to see the teachers do this the cities called off all parades all carnivals and everything else we get there doing parade through the neighborhood using police escorts.

Real Marxists try to look intellectually superior to all us commoners, like the university types do. They try to sort the population into different grievance groups that are easier for trained community organizers to infiltrate and control. A colorblind meritocracy of people proud to be Americans and not having to rely on the government for an income because the economy is booming, is the last thing the commies want. #1 every institution is going to have human error, whether that be the church, military, police

#2 cops shoot and kill more whites than blacks in total (more blacks per capita, granted, but there is also a higher black, per capita, crime rate.

#3 Eric Garner was stopped for a misdemeanor, then he elevated that to a felony

#4 Philando Castile got stupid and sloppy on a traffic stop - so he got shot

#5 and so on ...

In each incident the officer was ENFORCING A LEGAL LAW ON THE BOOKS OF THAT CITY/STATE. That's what he should have been talking about. But he jumped on the SJW bandwagon.

Brown's writing shows he's racially motivated and not very bright. I'm not sure that's a big surprise. In fact, maybe that's why he's considered "the very best" for the job. After all, this is nothing but a kind of merit selection.

But, is walking down the middle of a street only considered jaywalking? I always thought jaywalking, which everyone has done, was when you crossed a street horizontally to get to the other side. Expect more of Special Ed-like "goofy kids" apologetics from this guy.

And someone who's given themselves poor health, fights with police, and then dies has had a death sentence executed on them?

And someone who mass murders police officers can be excused as mentally ill motivated by some supposed crime and injustice that police have committed?

The only question is what appropriate appellation will eventually be hung on him?

Brown Nose?
Brown the Clown?
The Brown Line?

Easy for the Scumbag puke Politicians to pass all these nickle and dime Ordinances and Laws that they collect revenue for and line their pockets and political war chests with, insisting the Police enforce, them, then, as the true cowards that Politicians are, blame the Police when the Police go out and do the job the Politicians require them to do, and something goes wrong. NEVER show respect for ANY Politicians, Officers and families. They just use you as a political football, kissing your asses when they desperately need you, then throwing you under the bus every time you do what they mandate, and something backfires. They work for you but in their utter arrogance, once power and control is obtained by them, that all goes right out the window. Stay Safe and Healthy, Brothers and Sisters. One would hope that the chief would your back, not your backside to hang as a trophy on his wall.

I'm a civilian (long ago reserve officer) and, yes, there are cops that commit crimes on the job who should have their backsides nailed to the wall. But the overwhelming 99% of cops do their jobs in good faith under tough conditions dealing with the scum of the earth so we (civilians) don't have to.

Cops should get the benefit of the doubt and when doing the right thing, cops should have leadership willing to go to battle for them. Otherwise it is not reasonable to expect any officer to take risks while doing the job. Do the minimum to keep your job and continue to remind the citizenry that they voted to have this nonsense. (If I worked for CPD, I'd be Sgt. "I see nothing!" Schulz".

Glad I live in Kansas - this stupidity isn't here (yet).

Brown will go down as the worst Supt in our history. He is vindictive and will fire more cops than any other Supt. He left two officers at the breach point after they were shot when he was on SWAT. That is 100 percent true. He is a COWARD! He ordered a police motorcycle escort for his son’s funeral. His PCP smoking son killed a Texas Police Officer and Brown ordered a police escort for the funeral.

You have no clue who we are getting.

But asked why he would want to take the job in his new city, Brown responded, “Are you kidding me? The city that produced Michelle Obama and elected Mayor Lightfoot? Sign me up for that.”

What an ass kissing tool.

His comments should scare every single police officer to death. He makes it sound as though these individuals were killed on purpose by the police for doing nothing. He sure sounds like he’s dead set against any proactive police work whatsoever. God forbid any cop gets involved in something serious and it turns out badly. Hunker in place will be the motto and it’s not the virus I’m talking about.

4/04/2020 12:41:00 AM

You nailed it. We are in for dark days. Friend of mine from Dallas PD said, “Brown will be a bigger enemy than gangbangers or the Coronavirus to Chicago Police Officers. He is very racist, vindictive and very insecure. I feel sorry for you.”

Police work is dead."

This is it in a nutshell. Do as little as possible. Screw your "numbers". Let the city get worse & worse until even the racial voting democrats say enough is enough, THEN maybe they'll start voting in competent people. If not, they will reap what they sow.

Another fuck you cpd by the 14% mayor. Hiring a racist social justice warrior pretending to be a cop. But I'm sure he passed all his promotional tests. Isn't Dallas the place where a subject matter expert was offering a study class for the test that she was supposed to the subject matter expert for? Obviously not a sme for ethics. When you think it can't get any worse. Ok, Cato would have been worse. That guy actually believes he deserves all his promotions.

Embarrassing that in the last 12 years, only one of our own was (considered) suitable enough to lead the department by three different mayors. (1 out of four! Yay!) Something wrong with the figure head “leaders” we have. Sadly, the command staff is still heavily infected with the toadies of past, (way-less that qualified) bosses. Safe bet: Department is fucked for at least 6 more years.

SCC, Thank you very much for putting this out there. I was absolutely disgusted when I read this. There is another simple solution that most likely would’ve stopped all of these. DONT RESIST!! Each one of these examples, they failed to comply. It doesn’t matter what they were stopped for, DONT RESIST!! I am disgusted by his statements.

Yes you have no right to RESIST be taken into custody and make a complaint afterwards if you think it is unjust!

SCC

Was on City wide 2 when heard beat trying to order a body removal. The dispatcher was giving him a hard time because he wasn’t directly with the body. He stated he was told by a cfd LT. Not to go in, and a single paramedic went in to do the pronouncement. Guy was a 51 year old male who roommates stated only complained of back pain. Paramedics stated it was natural causes due to no medical history and only thing was stated by witnesses was he suffered from back pain. The only information that they were able to get was a full name and approx age, no ID could be found per medic. ME wanted the body for lack of information of the deceased.   Detectives weren’t coming and authorized the removal. Cw2 wouldn’t give the officers a ticket for a removal, they wanted the officers inside with the body and gather more information.

Are you kidding me, The  deceased is 51, obviously it’s not natural causes and cfd 90% would say it is, but police officers aren’t medical experts but do know dieing at 51 is not natural. Not even the detectives would come out.

Then 15 minutes later the dispatcher got that beat back on the air and told them they contacted fire and they stated it was ok to go back in there, it was just for precaution. Officers replied, per their Sgt they were not to. Dispatcher goes back and stated, well I can’t generate a tickets until I know what's going on, why can’t you go in there, I need more info. Officer seemed like he was losing his patience and I don’t blame him. they told the dispatcher, squad I told you what they told me. What other information do you need, I got his name, approx age, the detective who authorized the removal, the Me#. What else do you need. Dispatcher....... oh Just a height and weight.

So your going to put an officer through all that just for a height and weight. The roommate was still on scene and provided info. Ridiculous!

Given his past actions and comments, I think the first slip up he makes (which I expect to be very soon) will result in confidence lost by many coppers if they ever had any in him to begin with. I personally have no faith he is going to be supportive of us. I think he will be one of the most anti-police superintendents we’ve ever had.....I expect to be proven right within the month unfortunately. For those of you saying “it can’t worse than Eddie”, you’re either stupid or naive. There’s always some stupid son of a bitch out there that can make things much worse. It can always get worse, and I have a feeling we are being introduced to superintendent worse. Be safe brothers and sisters.

That may be true, I don't know. I do know he was part of the hood rat culture and if he didn't wanted to become a leper or a victim of that culture he had to make a show for those watching. That why there is always a problem when the cops come. Either fight the cops or become an outcast. It's that simple.

His writing suggests that he does not support proactive policing and his emphasis on race clearly indicates where his sympathies lie. Most officers aren’t stupid and will stop any type of proactive police work to protect their jobs. The citizens who will suffer the most as a result of his policies are the black and brown people to whom he pays lip service. He will continue this department’s policy of race based promotions instead of promoting competent leaders. More businesses will flee the city and state as Chicago circles the drain. This is what you voted for.
