- Chicago continued to see significant decreases in major crimes during the first full week of Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s statewide stay-at-home order amid the coronavirus pandemic.
From March 23 through Sunday, the city saw a 23% single-week dip in its seven major crime categories, including homicides, burglaries and major thefts, compared with the same stretch in 2019, official city data shows.
Last week’s major crime numbers were also down by about 7% from the previous week, March 16 through March 22. During that week, Pritzker closed schools across Illinois, bars and restaurants were shuttered, and his stay-at-home directive went into effect March 21.
Except for those pesky shootings and homicides:
- Last week’s 41 shootings were also a 64% jump from the previous week, when there were 25 such incidents, according to records. Part of last week’s increase was caused by a violent March 25 that saw 12 people shot, with all of them wounded outdoors.
So far in 2020, Chicago has logged 93 homicides, compared with 80 during the same period last year, a 16% increase, according to the official data through Sunday. Shootings were also up by 23% over the year-earlier period, from 336 to 414.
Any idea what might have driven the crime "downward"? Like maybe some sort of plague or disease or even bad weather.

It does appear that certain segments of society which have always been perceived to have driven the violence in Chicago, are now offering proof that they are indeed the problem. This behavior which is only occurring within certain neighborhoods, offers an interesting narrative showing that these certain segments of society refuse to conform to the simple rules of society / government such as staying at home for the health and welfare of all.

Hey changing the topic a bit. The Department stopped the training sessions to fit the N95 masks for patrol officers. Why you ask, not for safety but to fit officers from HQ for possible deployment. WTF once again the department shows what they think of us. PO's at HQ never get deployed they just hide them. Those are the merit bosses bf and gf they will never see the street.
Victimizers still out and about, because it's their nature to ignore other people's rules. So they still have each other to attack. But there are no cars to hijack, no stores to pilfer, no transit riders to rob, no pedestrian shoppers to harass, beat, and mug. Fewer crimes to ignore, downgrade, and sweep under the rug.
But just as fewer victims equal fewer crimes, so would fewer criminals equal fewer crimes. Stop subsidizing and enabling their existence - stop rewarding their birth and start rewarding their birth control.

fuck the Groot. We all know the only reason the city is down in crime is that the majority of people are home for an obvious reason. While shootings may be up, overall, other crimes are way down, some districts have had barely any shootings the last 31 days. While crime was spiking in FEB, and Groot was growing gray hair as to all the violent crime, the hidden enemy was taking its shots.
Groot if you really think that crime is down because of whatever the hell initiates you think worked or had in place....wake the fuck up. The coronavirus has the public fucken scared. We had extremely high activity numbers and now they are way down. Some districts are down over 50% yet crime is also fucking down all over the city. How does that work? What drives it downward is the constant downgrading of every crime, or non-logging of crime. You can’t really do that with dead bodies riddled with bullets. I assure you, when my neighbors in 811 report a garage burglary and I check CLEAR Map a month later, they mysteriously are never there. Like they never happened. The city just flat out lies. Harder to do with Swiss cheese bodies - although they’ll certainly try!

That is what it should be they came out and said they were going to all the medical marijuana when they thought they were going to be shut down next thing you know then back to recreational lines out the front of it people bunched up pressing up against each other yeah that’s really safe right now site today with my own eyes archer Avenue disgraceful dispensary.
