Where's the Beef?

  • Point by point, the judge in downstate Clay County on Friday ticked off the many ways he found Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s stay-at-home order had devolved into “insanity” and become “completely devoid of anything approaching common sense.”

Clay County Judge Michael McHaney complained that recently legalized pot shops had been deemed essential over generations-old family businesses. People had been led to believe they could avoid COVID-19 at Walmart but not at church.

And to top it off, McHaney complained that Pritzker’s family members had traveled between Illinois and Florida and Wisconsin during the coronavirus pandemic, contrary to Pritzker’s own stay-at-home order. The judge said, “when laws do not apply to those who make them, people are not being governed, they are being ruled.”

“Americans don’t get ruled,” McHaney said.
And after all that righteous bloviating:
  • Despite that fiery speech given in a courtroom 230 miles south of Chicago — pleasing many in the gallery — McHaney declined to undo Pritzker’s stay-at-home order statewide. He instead ruled narrowly, granting a temporary restraining order only to an individual Clay City business and its owner.
Thanks for a whole lot of nothing there Judge. It's looking more and more like the federal courts are going to have to step in.

Yes I agree that these piece by piece rulings by the local courts are a waste of time. The Federal Government needs to step in here and strike down the Governor,s orders and take away his State of Emergency authority regarding the Pandemic.Looks like the Governor,s Wisconsin neighbors are not thrilled about the army of construction workers and vehicles that are being sent to his Horse Farm on a daily basis. If you get the opportunity you have to watch the Governor stutter and stammer for about a minute responding to the question regarding his construction army.It is priceless.

Its the full employment for the court system injunction. Lawyers, judges and clerks will be busy working and getting paid with all the individual suits against the governor.

Im surprised that one of the big class action suit law firms hasn't taken this up yet. Could it be dewey, cheatum and howe don't want to rattle the government that allow them to easily go after any large cash cow so that they get millions and the class action victims get a check for 99 cents?

Could it be? Just call me a skeptic.

Judges are appointed they are political animals, he made a statement boisterously, then of course a phone call came in he back down that’s typical in Illinois where everything right is turned around! Disgraceful, dishonest that is the way the state is run.

Why are judges who actually uphold the constitution such pussies. On the other hand you have judges holding up constitution rights and laws country wise as long as it fits the agenda.

On the positive side, Rep. Bailey now has, finally, got Attorney General Barr and the DOJ to investigate Pritzker's illegal extending his powers. I still believe most of the Illinois restrictions will be lifted sooner than some think.

That judge made a lot of common sense comparisons but JB should have been in the courtroom like a defendant.

Non-practicing attorneys JB BeefSteak and Kramme Rat-Tool have an appeal strategy that can last into September if needed, problem is judges are too weak and scared to swiftly lay down the law as written.

Next time, require the elected officials to Appear In Court to answer the charge and hold these lackeys they send in Contempt.

Courts are supposed to rule as narrowly as possible. If the plaintiff only asked for a narrow ruling the judge really has no option to grant a wider one.

You people that call democrats democratic are scary. You need to take a stroll back to your jr. high and high school classes. Being democrat doesn’t make them “democratic”. He’ll, Republicans can be democratic. The scumbag-gutter rat democrats love it when you people refer to them as “democratic” because they are far from it.

Speaking of Governors-Gone-Crazy, I love a story with a happy ending!

To summarize, the Michigan’s Democrat governor has placed the entire state of Michigan under lockdown for several weeks. On the same day that she announced she would be reopening businesses in certain areas of northern Michigan, which includes the area where her vacation home is located, her husband’s vehicle is seen parked in their driveway. Two days later, when businesses that have been shut down for months are allowed to reopen, Governor Whitmer’s husband calls North Shore Dock company and asks to take cuts in front of common Michiganders, because he’s the husband of the woman who shut down their business in the first place.

North Shore Dock, LLC put out a statement on Facebook a few hours ago, confirming that Governor Whitmer’s husband did call their business and ask to have his boat put in the water. According to the North Shore Dock Facebook post, he was told he would not be given preferential treatment and that he would have to wait in line like everyone else, adding, “ALL of our customers are valued, and we cannot place you in front of others who scheduled earlier.”
