We were accused of overreacting and stoking panic when we said this was Groot's endgame a week or so ago. Anyone want to bet against us today?
- Along with a spike in violence in Chicago this past weekend comes with a new push by members of the police union to get officers on the street to stand down – and even stay home.
As CBS 2 Political "Investigator" [...] reported Monday night, it all started with a text message.
The text told officers not to volunteer to work on days off, to limit arrests, and to call in sick to make a statement to Mayor Lori Lightfoot and the City Council about how much officers are needed.
The bottom line – it is calling for what is known as “blue flu.”
The head of the Fraternal Order of Police is not denouncing the move. But the mayor calls it stupid.
There is no picture of the alleged text massage. There is no corroboration from multiple independent sources. Just a claim from SeeBS - a "news" organization that has been shown on numerous occasions to manufacture quotes, tweets, history, even entire Texas National Guard documentation for political ends.
Not volunteering to work days off in the current atmosphere is only intelligent.
As for the allegation that officers are being told to "limit arrests," those orders are coming from white shirts across the city in order to avoid (A) lawsuits, (B) use of force incidents and (C) making sure there are enough officers on the street to actual maintain some presence. That and the fact that Crimesha and Evans are releasing criminals as fast as they're arrested kind of limits the incentive to do anything remotely proactive.

I think the blue shirts are just wising up and realizing that the whole dam country is against them and that being proactive in this society can get you royally jammed up. one small mistake or encounter that goes south and next thing they’re charged with murder. Who’s going to risk that anymore? They’re still doing their job and answering their calls, they just aren’t doing the extra efforts that the city has taken for granted and come to expect from them.
A coworker in 007 3W today was told to hand in his personal phone to the WC, regarding alleged Blue Flu text messages. I would have said “me no think so” and hit the medical.

Have been retired for nine years. Been to scores of the major protests. I can attest that some of the exempts would give you that talk not to arrest the demonstrators because it took manpower off the line and they did not want any arrest incidents as that would look bad. Only arrest if they battered you and were close. Just dodge the projectiles thrown at you even if you get hit. One demonstration we were on lasted about six hours where we accompanied Antifa types all over the loop and the Mag. mile where they walked wherever they wanted down the streets blocking traffic, down the sidewalks hindering the pedestrians and going to the major stores where they stood in front giving their anti-capitalist propaganda speeches which hindered shoppers going in and out of the stores. After awhile I said to the exempt, why are we letting them do this? He said, we don’t want any trouble and we are going to tire them out. So in other words we did not want to give the demonstrators any problems but it was ok for them to disrupt vehicular, pedestrian traffic and the front of stores. One of the reasons we have all these problems, all over the country with these leftist deadbeats is we have spent years pandering to them because we are afraid of violating their rights, but it is ok if they violate everyone else’s rights and disrupt society. And when you work a protest for one cause you start to see groups from other causes that you had seen at another protest. They are all linked in the mutual aid response.

I never worked for the CPD, but if a white shirt means you are a supervisor, and you never told anyone to not make an arrest, then you are not doing your job, and maybe we have found one of the problems with the CPD. Your job, among other things, is to teach young officers that arresting someone should be a last resort. Quality of arrests over quantity should be the goal. Nobody of any sense is impressed with a cop who has a history of making chickenshit arrests, nor supervisors who allowed them to do so.
I tried to teach cops, unless it was necessary, to try not to be the cop who arrests someone for the first time, and, never, never just because you could or the guy pissed you off. Why? Because an arrest is a life shattering event. You ever fuck up as a kid? Ever got drunk and gotten in a fight? Well if you did, and you ran into a young copper new on the job who didn't know better than to not to arrest you, then you wouldn't be wearing that shiny star today.
Haven't been in the business for a while, but when I left I wasn't much impressed with the kids coming into the business. (Every old person thinks that the world is going to hell in a hand basket carried by the new generation.) Not because they are kids, but because of their lack of life's experience. Departments are reluctant to hire someone with an arrest record of being a 20 year old soldier involved in a bar fight. (Of course no self-respecting Marine and not been a bar fight.)
It's that white shirts job to help these officers gain some experience and know the difference between what has to be done and what can be done. That white shirt should also be explaining to his/her cops that in the ghetto, because the number of police assigned, kids doing stupid things are going to be known to the police to a much greater extent than those kids living in suburbia where the police patrols are few and far between.
A supervisor who just tells his/her cops to do what they want is not supervising and is stealing the extra pay.
Just for the record, not a CPD officer, but old school copper who does think that police work has gone to hell in a hand basket carried by the democratic party.

I hope you are making that up, because if the officer was given an unlawful order to hand over his phone, and the contents of the phone was looked at by a supervisor without a search warrant then we have a huge problem. The officer should immediately file a lawsuit naming the supervisor, the dept and the city as defendants. But I can't imagine any cop would be so stupid enough to hand over their personal phone.

You don’t want to come to 017 then. Usually at least double the consent decree mandate. Each sgt averages about 30 po’s to supervise a day. Yeah, that’s right. But downtown don’t give a F about nice districts so they let it continue.
This Dana Koslov in a real piece of shit. I am retired now but worked in the 008th district 3rd watch when one of our female officers was brutally murdered in her residence, a matter I won’t go into details on here. We were keeping a special attention on the deceased officers residence when my partner and I were approached by several neighbors stating that this koslov who worked for WGN-TV at the time was going to their fronts doors and wanting to know about this officers social life. These neighbors said they were also receiving phone calls from koslov and they kept telling her they did not want to speak to her but she kept calling and going to their front doors. I saw koslov and told her the neighbors did not wish to be bothered any longer, her reply to me was you do your job I’ll do mine and she walked away. I got sgt 810:who in front of me called WGN-TV and spoke with some news desk boss who then asked to speak to me and I related the story to them. This individual I spoke to apologized for koslovs behavior. Within minutes koslov and her crew left the area. My point is she was a shitbag then and is still a shitbag.

I was a sergeant for 15 years and worked in 003, 010 and often was the only sergeant on the street. We usually had one sergeant per roll call, no field lieutenants. Most of the time one or both sergeants were tied up with paperwork. So, what is new? The city is cheap. Always has been cheap. lousy equipment and lousy facilities, poorly maintained, repairs that llook like a blind man did them. lousy cars and frankly, lousy leadership. Corrupt promotions and assignments. And, they wonder why there are scandals and morale is bad? Seriously?
