Defunding Vote Wednesday

This is for the Officers in schools that the communist CTU is pushing - and guess who wants police to remain in the schools?
  • The divisive use of police officers embedded in schools lands before the Chicago Board of Education Wednesday, when there could be a vote on whether to end its $33 million contract with the Chicago Police Department.

But that idea won’t come with an endorsement from the city’s schools chief.

Shortly after Wednesday’s scheduled vote was made public, Chicago Public Schools CEO Janice Jackson and a group of principals spoke Monday on their belief in the importance of school resource officers. Mayor Lori Lightfoot has previously dismissed the idea of removing police from schools, despite a growing call.

Jackson said she supports keeping the decision at the school level and understands the discomfort some students feel with police around.
You know who feels uncomfortable with cops in the schools? Criminal students.

And the CTU members who are sexually abusing students - hundreds of complaints every year, almost all un-investigated and almost all swept under the rug.

Hopefully, CPD is out of the schools this fall.

Yes,I completely understand why the teachers are not comfortable having Law Enforcement so close to their daily diddling and molesting of students. At least the CPS School President can have a clear conscience when its all said and done. She knows that these children are in trouble from both the criminal element in the schools along with the Predatory Teachers and wants Police in the schools.

33 teachers were pulled from Chicago public schools in 2019 on charges of molestation/rape of underaged students. That’s a scandal 1000 times worse than any police scandal. Pedos are preying on young students and the powers that be and the media want to keep it quiet. They’re protecting pedophiles. Don’t CPS students lives matter?

Let CTU deal with the 6' 200lb violent "student",,,,good luck,,call me when its over,,Ill really try to not step in your skull fragments while pretending to give a fuck, because I really don't.

And now the idea of having to face them without the police scares them.

The police will be in the schools. If removed it will be bedlam.

You have to be nuts to go into a Chicago Public high school. After being in them on calls you can see that some of these students could care less about conducting themselves in a respectful manner. Have been in them at various times walking thru the halls with teachers and principals and they would tell a student to do something and the student would challenge them even with the police there. And of course they have an audience, other students they are acting out for. There are no consequences. The students try to bait you into a confrontation. I would rather work in any bad district than to be assigned in a school.

I worked at a highschool and if we were not there I can't imagine how much more cover ups would have happened starting with the principle! Yes because of cps policy many things can be handled by the school but a lot of legitimate crimes were covered up by the school until the parents became involved and demanded police intervention! They consistently tried keeping us out of the loop but we were always out there interacting with the students and built a great repor with students, good and bad and we're able to do our job within the scope of the law and cps policy. Not everyone was always happy but it was a positive impact. Yes it was a personal investment and took a lot of work to maintain that fine line between doing our job and not getting too personally vested in these kids. They knew we were fair, unbiased and still had a job to do.
If they take the police out of these schools I can't imagine the mayhem! Cps will be begging for cpd within a month! Maybe it's for the best tho since in this 'new world order ' the police hands are tied anyway!

Part of the curriculum in the area of Social Studies required by Chicago Public School students is indoctrination on Cmdr.Jon Burge and his mistreatment of Black Felons. So any Chicago Police Officer assigned to a Chicago Public School is already being placed in a clearly Hostile Work Environment. The movement to remove Chicago Police Officers from the schools is nothing more than following the Mass Hysteria and Agenda being pushed by the Left, and the Chicago Teachers Union, which is about as far Left as you can go before you declare yourselves Communists. Removing police from the schools is a recipe for school shootingd, injury or death to a faculty member or student. Every year, Chicago Police remove guns and other weapons from the schools, and it gets virtually no news coverage, in a City where local news is nothing more than Propaganda for the Political Machine. Talk of removing police from the schools is simply Grandstanding and Pandering: it will not happen. Baby "G"

Well they got what they wanted from her a fat underserved raise and can afford to throw her to the curb now. One Communist enterprise against another communist supporter. Let the games begin. Anyone thinking about relocating to city will have to factor private school costs into the financial equation of move to city. Very high housing costs for a hard to find decent neighborhood million dollar plus, some of the highest real estate taxes in country that are sure to rise next year, additional high taxes on all aspects of normal life entertainment, restaurants beverages and of course the Saudi owned constantly rising parking rates. Now add another $12-15 K per child for a private school if you want your child to get a decent education. Why would anyone want to move here?

Old retired guy here. Was one of the original Sergeants assigned to the School Patrol Unit when it opened in early 90's. When I say schools were out of control that's an understatement. The first couple of years the Unit as a whole recovered over 200 guns in schools. On occasion when a full Metal Detector Operation was run in a school (usually because of a shooting or heightened gang activity) as many as 5 guns were recovered.
Several years almost 10,0000 arrests were made in schools. That's right, 10,0000. Was everyone absolutely necessary? Maybe not, but on days when tensions were high in schools because of gang activity brought in from outside there was zero tolerance for misbehavior. Students knew this, teachers and administrators knew this and wanted this. Truth is as soon as you removed those 15 or 20 thugs from the building on the day of the arrest and the subsequent suspension even the worst school in the system was quiet and functioning. What this means, in those days a school of eight or nine hundred had fifteen assholes. Even in what might be considered the worst school the other 98 or 99% of the students just wanted to get through their day without bothering anyone and no on bothering them.
After ten years though. with the use of Metal Detectors on a daily basis, strict use of the Student Discipline Code attitudes really began to change. Students quit bringing guns into buildings. From the time students were freshman they knew that they had to pass thru M/D's.
By the time School Patrol was disbanded. In 2003 the number of guns recover was down to less than 10.
But times have changed. The leadership of CTU has radiclly changed. Daley was Mayor when he took control of the schools and wanted tipi make a change. With LL in charge and her radical left wing its for CPD to be out of the schools. It's time to give them what they want.
Just like in Seattle's CHOP summer of Love, CPS's Year of the Social Worker will end in epic failure.

I sent this to my alderman
Hello Ald Napolitano 5 June 2020
Since it looks like the CPD is going to bow to the communist left, can I make a suggestion. When the bill in introduced to the city council, can you add something to it?
Since the CFD already charges per call at a fixed rate plus add ons. Allow the CPD to charge for service when called to any public school property.
A fee to be added for additional equipment if needed.
A flat rate of $100.00 per man hour, adjusted for inflation 2 hour minimum.
School checks would be minimum of one hour.
If court time is involved, 1 1/2 time, plus mileage for the officer (set by federal government). Standard minimums apply.
A handling fee of 10% payable to the CPD for admin costs
Since CPS is now over funded, all parking revenues should go to shore up the municipal pensions

Student Resource Officers were what led to Trayvon Martin. Broward County wanted federal money and in exchange created SRO’s which were vehicles by which students would be “diverted” from jail/criminal justice system. The SRO at Martins school didn’t arrest him when he had burglary tools and proceeds from reported burglaries in his locker. The rest of the corrupt story is history, including the prosecutors for the county creating a fictitious girlfriend who perjured herself on the stand.

I’m all for taking the police out of the CPS. Let the Communist Teachers Union deal with the criminals in the schools.

Ah.....memories. My school was a large H.S. on the south side. As the conditions worsened, a host of measures were implemented, including closed campus, IDs, locked doors, metal detectors and a second CPD officer. One day, a CPD task force checked every student for weapons. 85 students were detained or arrested. One girl actually had a butcher knife in her purse, and even had a sharpener to hone it!

BTW, the police in the two schools where I taught were excellent, needed, and considered part of the staff.

SEIU SlumTimes done a bit on the graduation of that child those polices dragged down the stairs for no reason.

Larri doesn’t need to lift a shovel to dig herself deeper in shit. Had she not shut down the city or reopened sooner, who knows.
Nasty condescending flip flopping angry toad crank is not making friends in her first year. Larri is going to take on the fight because she can, if CPS caves, CPS gets a new Supt. and Board. This isn’t about police in schools, it’s who’s the boss.

And This Is How It’s Gonna Be™️...
Larri caved in to CTU demands last year and got the finger this year. Easy to see how this is going. Lucky for them they’ve got a Contract that lasts after the next mayoral election 2023. Larri knows she can’t win even 50% of your membership.

Super smart stay-at-home teachers could be eventually be replaced too. No need for police and there’s no need for expensive to operate school buildings either. That $33 million per annum will come in handy to buy everyone a new iPad for the next Larri Lockdown CPS StayAtHome 2 Hour eLearnin’. Learning by Free WiFi is coming. School sports will be redirected to the Park Districts.

Then, they are surprised when a student punches them in the face after selling drugs, stealing and failing class. I know, I know; someone here will say “My wife is a teacher!” Well, she is teaching children to hate you and your profession. Teachers are not held accountable for anything but demand that the police are. Furthermore, they are whiners and crying babies about everything until they get their way. It’s not going to happen. All this talk about defunding the police is propaganda to satisfy the public. The schools need us to do their dirty work. When it comes to handling a child with behavior problems it’s easiest for them to turn it over to the police and say “problem solved.” What you should expect it the schools to change their minds but to imposed more demands and have more authority over officers assigned to the schools. This means that these offices are going to do a lot more ass kissing to keep that position.

Fuck CPS. They don’t want us, let them have it. Let them sweep the shit that happens in the schools under the rug, so they can claim some kind of moral communist utopian victory...until reality slaps them ever so hard in the face with a tragedy they turned a blind eye to when it could’ve been stopped in its tracks.

I have witnessed personally principles and school officials sending students to the police resource officer for minor infractions demanding they be arrested instead of calling their parents and handling the situation in house. I have experienced principles demanding arrests because of personal bias against the student or their family. So really its not the police that are not problem in my opinion.

Hey SCC, a post about Bubba Wallace is in order.
Look online, the "pre-noose" posts aren't very nice.
Seems like he's had some head case problems and
the "P-word" has been used on him long before this.

So don’t call the cops when some kids beats up a teacher or another student. Let the counselors and social workers deal with it. Call mommy or grandma and have them pick up their little angel. See how that goes.

Honestly please pull out the teachers in the schools. My wife who is in a violent ghetto school relies on the officers and treats them like gold. The said that if they vote the. Her and many like her are immediatly pulling the plug on CPS and going to teach in the burbs. I say fine. Let these ghetto schools lose all the good teachers they have and become an even bigger cesspool.

FOP come out and tell the police to not volunteer to work in the schools. Make them order you or use reverse seniority.Demand a pay deference to work in them. If the CTU doesn't want you in there it will become a hostile working environment and the CR's will start flowing and you'll take time of maybe arrested for interfering with one of the new flower children being groomed by the new world order of hate.Don't volunteer for your own safety. Push a beat car and write paper.

O.t. I wish I could sue all those causing me undeserved mental anguish and psychological distress! I honestly cannot sleep and don't even want to get out of bed. I feel like I'm under attack for the sins of others by this political agenda! No I'm not soft but damn a person can only take so much and from every freaking direction! I don't want to go to work or have any interaction with people for fear of being falsely accused or looking at someone the wrong way and losing my job! I understand people hating us even working against us for their own agenda but to hold us to a standard of perfection for their own evil endeavors is dispicable and phycologically damaging! That evil mayor's hate spewing tongue is damaging people psychologically!
How much more can this department take we are being pulled like taffy... Do your job...don't do your job...you did it wrong, you can't do anything right, your a punching bag but not a victim that comes with the job, etc, oh gee now I can't breath! !!!!!!!

If a police report is filed it will make its way to the cacc. There are a good few dets there that are very dedicated. And it’s true, there is a lot of abuse going on in CPS schools.

There were a lot of posts by CPD school officers about teacher molestation of students, but not one comment about CPS security staff doing the same thing. Several are serving time for this. I also did not see one comment about how CPD gets involved at the school level in violent incidents. Most commonly CPS security fails to deal with incidents and the situation has all ready escalated significantly by the time resource officers intervene. I never saw a teacher disciplined for throwing kids out of their rooms into hallways just telling them to go to the discipline office. The teachers expect school security to take over in the hallways between class periods, but sometimes they are actually in classrooms dealing with another kid and the student put in the hall way is screaming beating on the classroom door. CPS school security are organized by SEIU overall many of them are worthless, physically unprepared to intervene with high school students, and lazy.

This vote comes less than week after CPS CEO Janice Jackson ($250K salary) announced her kid is going to attend St. Ignatius HS, a school with documented racial issues. I wonder how this will play out with the CPS folk? Jackson must think Igs is safer than a CPS schools and her kid will not be targeted, especially if they pull SROs out of CPS.

Somebody else posted a comment along these lines and I can't find it, so I will opine here.

It regarded defunding the police and reducing the size of police departments.

No real plan of action along those lines is really needed.

The police departments will shrink due to normal attrition of reaching retirement age. This will also be boosted by officers deciding it is time to go NOW.

But the real crunch will come when the manpower gets critically short and the departments in Democrat run cities that totally shat on their officers will find that no one wants to join.

In the 1970s there was an anti-way poster: What if they gave a war and nobody came?"

I can see: What if there is a police department and nobody comes?

The CPS and CTU are following the play book of the Catholic church. Protect the offenders at all costs and get rid of the police. The CPS and the socialist led CTU are blowing the smoke in the direction of the police. No crime here and we the school and union will not cooperate with the police. Same story every year. Please get out of the schools and let hem hire the social workers and whoever they want to handle it. Its on them.
