Dear SCC. Listened to groot speak of bringing in Civilians to teach at the Academy. Not Good. While attending Washburn Trade School over 34 years ago, the city had an idea. They brought in non union members to teach classes. Some of the classes were still taught by our Union instructors, others had city CPS teachers. The union advised us that these teachers were not our members and would not be beneficial to our learning. We were told; “We can’t tell you to walk out on these non union teachers, but we will tell you that we would not let them teach us.” We got the message. Well the city brought in their teachers. Got out reassessment notice from the cook county assessor and it said that due to the covid, all assessments will be 10% lower. Does that mean that the taxes will be 10% lower? I tend to doubt that.....
