- After peaceful protests of the Minneapolis police killing of George Floyd were marred by widespread vandalism and looting, city officials announced they would pay up to $1.2 million to three private security firms to avoid a repeat of last weekend’s mayhem.
Over 100 private security guards from Monterrey Security, AGB Investigative Services and Illinois Security Professionals will be dispatched to retail corridors across the city — with a particular focus on the South and West sides, city officials said.
The private guards will not be armed and will not have police powers, but are meant to be “another set of eyes and ears to support efforts to deter looters,” Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s office said in a statement Saturday.

Monterrey Security Now Under State Review

CHICAGO (CBS) — CBS 2 has learned a state oversight agency is now reviewing the operations of Monterrey Security.
The move comes after a second NFL team fired the company. Monterrey provides security for the Bears and a host of other Chicago events.
This time the Buffalo Bills kicked out Monterrey Security after state regulators rejected the company’s license application.
They won’t say why.
It comes weeks after Monterrey was fired by the Minnesota Vikings’ brand-new stadium.
It’s alleged Monterrey double-billed the team, failed to do proper training and background checks and hired ex-convicts. That’s illegal in Minnesota.
“There was a Monterrey security officer that was wearing an ankle bracelet because he was making terroristic threats to the FBI,” said Greg Cook of the Minnesota Board of Private Detectives.
Monterrey has used its political clout to land contracts at Soldier Field, Lollapalooza, Wrigley, Navy Pier and Lincoln Park Zoo.

Completely unprofessional, untrained, and inadequate staff!! First off, Juan Gayton, the President of the company, is an ex CPD officer who was fired from the force over brutality during a traffic stop. While still on the force, During a traffic stop he in the car said Gaytan "threatened, kicked and punched them," then pointed a gun at them." Piss poor human being what he is.
Next, do you remember a case a few years ago of teens beating up a boy in the Bridgeport neighborhood (caught on tape)? They hired one of the kids who beat up the boy. Raymond Palomino was the employee (his dad happens to also work for the company). Is this the type of people that are supposed to keep us secure??

The media has problems with the idea that an accuser be required to identify himself and that a police officer involved in one of the most stressful events that can happen to a human being, be allowed time to collect his thoughts before providing a statement regarding an incident.
Maybe the media rationale is that we're all liars and thugs, who come out of roll call, looking to abuse someone, especially of color. Maybe they think when there's a backlog of calls and no cars available, its because you're out screwing someone over and contriving a way to deprive him of his rights.
Maybe now, with social media and the internet, they needn't even leave their homes to foist snide commentary on those of you in the thick of this toilet bowl of a city. As far as I know that bill, introduced by LaShawn Ford after LQ fiasco to recall Rahm, has still not passed. Illinois has no procedure to recall mayors only the Governor. I don’t believe even petitioning we could at this point. It is HB4356. Last action according to openstates.org is it was referred to the Rules Committee as of Jan 29, 2020

I don't know if this is going to make a difference but please understand that these companies are being bullied-yes bullied-into making statements publicly supporting the blm movement. The blm philosophy "silence is violence" and "silence is pro-racist" has emboldened blm and their supporters to shame and bully any individual (via social media) or any business who has not made a public statement in support of their cause. These individuals and companies then make a statement in support of blm so they are not called out as racist. In the case of businesses, it's a decision they feel is necessary so as not to be subjected to boycott. Funny thing is, many of these companies have programs for under served communities and donate to social causes, they just never felt it necessary to beat their chests about it-they just do it. The whole blm"silence" campaign is actually pretty clever in that it seems to be forcing not only businesses but anyone even remotely in the public eye to make a statement in support of blm. In other words, if you don't make a statement, you must be a racist.

The idea of defunding the police and the recent news from Minneapolis is horrifying. I wrote last night to my alderman and send emails today to Duckworth, Durbin, Lightfoot (I'll let you all call her Groot), and Pritzker to complain and tell them that I was angry at the idea of de-funding the police and that there were other people like me too- there are but in a blue city, it's probably not enough.
