Data Breach?

No idea if this is true, but knowing regular CPD security protocols on everything else, not to mention the stellar cast of characters working in any city job, this needs to be checked and verified:
  • ALERT ALERT ALERT

To all Chicago Police Department Employees.City Hall is attempting to put a lid on a massive Data breach that occurred last sunday night. All of the Department Members personal information was accessed by an unknown Hacker. This means SS numbers, Home addresses,Emergency Contact Information,ETC was retrieved by an unknown source. Take the appropriate action and continually monitor your background information and of course protect your families and homes.

FOP,you need to get on this and demand that the City come forward with this breach.
Let everyone know.

A word of advice from someone who had his ID stolen (SS#) via the Equifax data breach. Place a credit freeze on all four credit bureaus.....NOW! It is a slight inconvenience to lift the freeze when you need to finance a major purchase. You can spend years cleaning up the aftermath of someone who steals your identity. As far as the credit monitors out there, "Lifelock", etc......not foolproof and not worth the expense. Do it yourself by locking everything down. Take care during these difficult times.

I was an investigator under contract to homeland security when the chinese hacked into the federal data base. They obtained the personal information of everyone who had worked for homeland security. The government gave us three years of free monitoring. If this happened to you, demand the same,

Replace them with the star number.

Police departments need reform alright, stop hiring political hacks and affirmative action. Have REAL legit hiring and meaningful hiring process not a political one. Police departments do not have a racist problem, there will always be a few racists ( black and white) but they could be weeded out. Politically hiring and affirmation action will largely stop the BS.

I know im asking the impossible.....but IT IS what needs to be done.

Live outside the city +20 years on (NY can retire)

Free City Umbrella Policy 1 million

Desk jobs only for those 25+ years

50 and out insurance

1 week of free suspension coverage

No name tags just star #s

This may be the minimum to get somebody to even want to show up for work in this assault on police environment.

Hacks probably don’t happen, but likely in these challenging times like the covid protests we’re seeing, some disgruntled techie goes rogue or maybe the angry toads operatives involved.

I never update(ed) my info with HQ when I moved with the exception of my ssn at finance (probably the main source of important records to steal) that ain’t nobody there needs to know.
District, FOP, DefComp,Voter reg, maybe a couple others were the only places that had my current address and some got my cell number for Med Sect purposes. I look at it as my version of “where I stay”.

Put your DL/PLT reg elsewhere too.

It costs nothing to place a Fraud Alert at all 3 credit bureaus...
Experian.com
TransUnion.com
Equifax.com

CPFCU is another place that somehow is frequently “hacked”.

Again and again the city proves their total lack of professionalism in securing information. We have people that are not even qualified managing vital information not surprised this happened, ridiculous stupid deadly situations could result from this! You can’t do anything about stopping people from coming to your house, but freeze your credit reports now if you didn’t do it after the Equifax freeze. It can be a painstaking process to get all three locked down, but it beats the alternative.

In my professional opinion, having managed many Data Centers since the 1990's,the vast majority of data breaches are inside jobs. Frequently, a Company will sell the data illegally for great sums of money (Soros-size piles of cash), then claim a data breach by Russian eLitE HaCk0rZ to cover their trail and present plausible deniability later when the source of unique data collection later becomes identifiable.

If the City was cash-strapped and had a grudge against Cops, that is where I would look first. Antifa would be very interested in purchasing all the personal info of Officers.

Data is currently the most valuable thing on the Planet. Bezos, Gates, Zuckerberg, Jobs all made their Oligarch fortunes selling our Data.

It would appear to be prudent to protect identities and families at this point affected by the breach.

Several have commented on hos the CPFCU is frequently hacked. I have an easy answer to that one: find another credit union. In a place the size of Chicago and Cook county, there are likely many credit unions that have broad acceptance standards.

Some are, for example: “live, work, or worship in [city or county list]”. “All first responders”. “Make a one-time contribution [usually two days lf lunch money] to [decent local charity] plus $5 to open a savings account.”

Decades ago, I lived in the very north end of California, on the coast. I had several customers in Curry County Oregon. I was sick of Bank of America, and, ona whim, pulled up to a credit union office in Bandon Oregon. “Do you live here?” No. “Do you work here?”. Sort-of. I explained my twice,-weekly delivery and sales runs. The teller looked over at the only other person in the branch. “Sure sounds to me like he works in Curry county... sir, that will be $5 to open a checking account, and if you want checking, you open it with $20...”. In ten minutes, my banking problems were solved.

I checked out the You Tube video of the guy in Buffalo who took a dive before Buffalo PD. Sure looked like he was using a phone device scanning two of the officers. He placed the phone in 3 different places where first officer had phone and radio. Then did it to 2nd officer. At that point he stumbled down falling backward. Uber suspicious timing me. Shortly thereafter the Politburo censors at You Tube pulled the video as being detrimental to the Libtard Movement. Watch yourselves. Listen up folks. YOUR personal information is already out there on dozen of websites. If you ever bought a home, got credit of any kind, are on any social media, have an email, have utilities, have a phone number , bought anything online, or have a NAME, etc, then your personal information has been sold or shared. So when someone hacks you or steals an identity, most of the time it is random. The latest site was www.cyberbackgroundchecks.com. I put my cellphone number in and it displayed all my information and then some. It has an option to opt out. Ive done it on numerous sites. it sucks.

"...Did the Commander of 010 really take a knee..."

It depends when. Are you asking about when he dropped a knee to become Commander or in support of the protesters?
