About Those Gun Numbers
- Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot (D) told CNN’s State of the Union, “Our gun problem is related to the fact that we have too many illegal guns on our streets, 60 percent of which come from states outside of Illinois.”
However, for the last data available:
- The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives’ (ATF) 2018 figures show Illinois as the top source state for guns recovered in the state of Illinois.
The ATF numbers show 5,337 guns recovered in Illinois were traced and sourced as coming from Illinois.
Fourteen other states accounted for a total of 4,375 guns recovered in Illinois and traced to their source. Those states were Indiana, Missouri, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, Texas, Ohio, Georgia, Iowa, Alabama, Florida, Arkansas, and Michigan.
So Groot does what all Groot's do when confronted with facts:

SSC, why no story on the PPO from 011 who wrote the op-ed in the Washington Post? Guy also wrote a 15 page paper to the commander telling him how to do his job. Guy has 12 months on the job and calls 10-1s like they are going out of style for foot chases with bust outs.

So let's discuss these guns that are coming in from other states. If they are available for illegal purchase to Chicagoans, then they are also available for locals to purchase. So if that is so, how come all these areas responsible for the illegal guns are not suffering any where close to the levels of violence experienced in Chicago? Mayne it's really not the fault of the guns which are inanimate objects. Maybe the problem is the people (or folks) using them. Maybe instead of trying to create more laws that the local States Attorney or judges will not enforce anyway, let's get a real States Attorney and judges that will actually prosecute and convict using the laws already on the books...

With all due respect to Mr. Kass, I will not even pay a penny to either the Fibune or the Slum-Times. The SCC post was not taking comments. I assume that SCC is well aware that those treacherous rags actually expect a paid subscription to read their often biased anti-CPD articles. My decision is based on principle, truth, justice and the American way.
Ironically, years ago, I had subscriptions to both newspapers. Today: No way! With the possible exception of columnist Kass, I regard the old Soviet newspaper Pravda with more credibility than these two propaganda wings of the most politically corrupt major city in the nation.
Hey mayor, guns don’t kill people. People kill other people. Stop focusing on the tool (gun) and start focusing on the black on black crime problem that is and has been out of control for 60 years in this city. Let’s start being honest about criminality in this city. The first step in solving a problem is identifying the problem.

A good portion of guns from other states are brought here for gun turn ins. The department doesn’t separate these guns from crime guns they are all counted together for effect, isn’t that right Mr Branch.

You can go to the story on the papers page, when you are asked to sign in copy the URL enter it in Google the after the search window appears click on the story and enjoy!! This works on most paywall papers, I use it all the time.

The new wave of recruits that know more than you. As far as criticizing his Commander with a 15 page shame paper, well if the Commander doesn't square this PPO quickly, he should be removed. Writing a Op-Ed to the Wash. Post tells me that the Post is reaching for straws.

First of all it’s SCC, second of all Francis you need to slow down how much time do you have on job may we ask? Why don’t you man up or woman up or whatever you want to be called and talk to the cop about it how about that maybe steer him straight if there’s a problem instead of calling it on a public blog? Train the new kids, that would be a concept with me, instead of coming on the blog and crying about it like a little girl!

There has got to bne a way to read that page, but then again the news they have is slanted, no matter what it is. Plenty of non-slanted sources.... CBW is great and I would pay to read that.
The only question is why when they are caught with an illegal gun, why are felons allowed to walk? Should be automatic no bond. Why not automatic 10 year sentence for using weapon during crime with no time off.
The city just needs to auction them off every 90 days. Make some money off of them since the scumbags are going to get their hands on guns anyway. Keep the money in the city.

The fact that a Weapon was “ Traced” by BATFE does NOT mean that the Weapon was EVER used ( or possessed) by a Criminal in the commission of a Crime. A “ Trace” can mean one of two seperate things. First, an attempt to follow chain of possession from manufacturer ( e.g., Smith & Wesson) to Distributor to FFL Dealer to Buyer. A “ Trace” can also mean an inquiry, through various Fed databases ( e.g., FBI NCIC), to see if the weapon is reported stolen or missing ( missing as in taken from an unmarked vehicle while the Detective to whom the vehicle was assigned was enjoying the intimate attention of his “ Sidepiece”). The second form of trace— to see if the weapon is stolen— may be routinely done by Customs and Border Protection on the personal 30-06 Bambi Blaster of a CPD who is crossing the border into Canada on a hunting trip. It has NO connection to anything criminal and should not be regarded as such. Comments on this matter from BATFE and CBP blog readers welcomed

We fix things by admitting we are not adhering to our Declaration or Constitution and then actually start doing so!!
Limpfoot is good at only one thing- blaming everyone else for her shortcomings, including not taking proactive measures to reduce crime in Chicago. Shootings are up again, so who does she blame? President Trump, of course. There's only one problem with this approach, however. She is supposed to be the Mayor. She's in charge, and it's HER resposibility to handle Chicago's problems- not President Trump's. It looks like she has absolutely no idea what to do while holding public office. And it makes us question how the fuck someone who is as stupid and unqualified as she is got voted in in the first place. Neither being gay or black are qualifications to run a city. You need knowledge and common sense. Limpfoot has neither. She truly is a bumbling buffoon.
