This was a time before paramedics, where lead recipients were not stabilized at great expense before being transported, again at great expense to a massively subsidized trauma unit. If we look at the numbers today we see a 20% immediate mortality rate, more or less, with a tremendously higher morbidity. Without the taxpayers paying for the care of these useless animals what kind of die off would we see? Seems to me that our taxes are paying to support the most vile and useless creatures on Earth, and we aren't even talking about the politicians yet. Maybe we need to defund the ERs too. And dump section 8 while we are at it.
