- There has been a reduction in homicides and shooting incidents in Chicago since the city’s police force launched two units aimed at combating gun violence and ensuring protests and other large events don’t devolve into chaos, police said Monday.
Chicago Police Superintendent David Brown said “tenuous progress” has been made in the department’s efforts to stem gun violence. There were three homicides over the weekend compared to 12 and eight the previous two weekends and 17 over the July Fourth weekend, Brown said at a news conference.
From 6 p.m. Friday until midnight Sunday, the department recorded 39 shootings. That compares to 41 the previous weekend, 50 the weekend before that and 87 during the long Independence Day weekend.
And not a single mention of the numerous Federal agencies here prosecuting the gun crimes that Crimesha refuses to do. Gun crimes that carry mandatory sentences and 80% or more of sentences served.

Why are the police tasked with food drives? In Chicago there are food pantries, food banks, soup kitchens, food congregates, food closets, mobile food wagons, churches, CPS, corporations and stores that distribute food. This is in addition to government programs like WIC-USDA-FNS. I checked the internet and found dozens of food providers for people. The news (even they showed what their station was doing and how much they gave) is always reporting on this. About two weeks ago they showed a food drive where they pulled up in their cars and all they had to do was pop their trunks as the volunteers filled their trunks with bags of groceries. I noticed that a lot of people that come for the food pick up are obese, how could that be if they are starving?!!!
As for Covid 19 resource distribution the city and state have whole departments that are tasked with those services.
If the Cook County States Attorneys Office was doing their job prosecuting criminals, seeking high bonds and protecting citizens, the argument to bring in the Federal Agents would not gain traction. We have a failed States Attorney and mayor to boot.
Thank you President Trump for the federal resources to take back our city and Keep America Safe Again. True leadership on the national level filling the void of local politicians who aligned with the criminal element and anarchist organizations causing murder, mayhem and destruction on so many levels.

We try to keep it simple and look at the total shot metric as a gauge of the level of violence. A lot of things have to line up for a homicide while getting shot is binary, you either are or are not.
60+ shot in a weekend was once something that was rare, maybe one or two non-holiday weekends a year. This summer we've recorded five so far, six if you want to throw in the 4th. The average number of people shot per day so far this summer has been around 19-20/day with the last week averaging 20/day.
Fewer dead is more likely the result of poor marksmanship and/or superior and timely medical care than new units and surge missions.

Your comparison should be number of people shot. Every shooting is an attempted murder, that didn't become a murder because, either because of the shooter's poor marksmanship or the intervention by doctors. Do this and you'll see how deadly these folks are.

So far this year there have been 207 shootings In Englewood of which 39 have been fatal. These figures are taken from Heyjackass.
The figures given in Wikipedia show an estimated population of 26,121 .
If we assume that the only people shot in Englewood are residents of that neighbourhood, the chance of being shot , so far this year, is 1 in 126.
This figure can only get lower as more people get shot.
I served as a soldier during the “Troubles” in Northern Ireland.
We never saw the continual shootings that this community suffers.
As a retired Police Officer in London, I can only applaud my colleagues in Chicago.

Desperate organizations make up phony awards thinking this fools the rank & file. It demonstrates a deeply shared appreciation and caring for them and their hard work. You're awarded this piece of paper and ribbon badge for crime reduction in all categories except for murders, shootings, maiming and mayhem. Crime was really reduced by victims fleeing the city with their lives and fortunes.

As time goes by, more and more people are finally realizing that their Covid-scare tactics are just that.

I know a lady who works and lives in Englewood. The only difference is not the city and all its maneuvers and false press. It the fear that the feds have arrived.
