I am an Italian American and i think we should take down the Martin Luther King statue in Markette Park . I feel that it is offensive to me . If you take down a statue that was paid for by Italian Americans maybe you should take down MLKs Statue, it is only fair.

For what it's worth, at least Meigs Field had a legal standing in that it was past its Chicago lease date ending, had been thoroughly litigated, and every attempt to block its destruction had been through the courts, including appellate ones. Protecting that piece of metal cost 49 officers injuries, with 18 requiring hospitalization. That's too high of officer cost. Pick your battles. That objective was not worth the fight. Glad to have it removed from the battlefield.

It's not about the statue but rather capitulating to the mob. The progression of moving from one target to another, and another.
