So how many millions did Groot spend on Police OT for three days of twelve-hour shifts with all RDO's cancelled and weekend plans destroyed? Because we're getting word it was all so that under a hundred protestors could march around downtown.

Because of Covid-19, no more summer festivals / summer concerts / convention business. Hotels and restaurants going bankrupt, permanently shut-down, and never coming back. The tax revenue loss to the city will be devastating.
Invest your personal wealth as if you are not ever going to receive a reliable pension check. When I was hired in 1998, my fellow recruits said what a great job this is, largely because of the promise of a pension. I suspected it was a pipe dream then, and I know it to be one now.

Loghtfoot told us that last year's $150,000,000 in police overtime was unacceptable and she was going to slash it. So far this year we have had 3 "deployments", each lasting approximately 2 weeks and costing the city between $40 and $45 million a deployment. On the low end thats $120 million for 6 weeks. Thats like keeping our homicide rate under 300 when we were already at 240 on June.

I'm sure having a well publicized and "preplanned" safety drill the night before with strategically place Jersey walls and planters help a whole bunch. Had these steps along with fencing around courthouses not been taken, shit could've hit the fan. I think by this point everyone has totally lost any faith in our leadership. It feels like they just have no idea what they’re doing at all. Another weekend (just like the week long fiasco two weeks ago) of a waste of taxpayer money. Absolutely no reason to cancel 3 days off and have officers working 12 hr days. The irony of all this "de-funding" the police is I, as money others, are on track to make the most money I've ever made in a year with all this mandatory overtime. This bitch Groot has absolutely no idea what she is doing. I can only assume she hates the police so much that she is willing to blow a hole in the city budget to make us all stand next to businesses for 12 hrs and be miserable. This whole crime/protest problem can be handled so much better by allocating resources better and offering voluntary overtime. The involuntary overtime is wasting so much taxpayer money when the city is already broke from riots and Covid. And I'm sure this bitch will cancel everyone's days off again this coming weekend (when it's absolutely unnecessary and will be another waste of tax money).

In case thats too lengthy I'll summarize it: they're like loss prevention sitting in their monitor rooms watching for shoplifters and once a month the manager puts together a report of thefts in the store so the store manager can look at it.
I have absolutely NO problem calling her out. My beef is not from all of the shit going around about her but my disdain comes from a lack of work. you really need uniforms to sit and watch monitors? and your so called analysts are bullshit. when I was task forced out to the feds those analysts were bad ass and actually helped the groups work cases. instead we have some recent college graduate, coffeeshop barista turned analyst "working" with for the dedicated and hard-working police.
The department canceled days off but the bosses take care of their favourite? How about the 5 E.T.s that were given time due. We should have taken the Teamsters when we had the chance. The F.O.P has always played the troops and took care of themself and their own (families) through city hall.How is that contract going? these "deployments" and the 12 hours (plus) that go with them, along with working 7 or more days in a row (depending on d.o.g), have become a shameless, insulting, disregard for contract protection, and serve as nothing but a workaround for commanders to please their masters at our expense.
you get dragged in on short notice, day off cancelled, told it's for an emergency and protecting the city from continued potential unrest- only to have your bosses take advantage of the situation by putting up a charade of 'coverage' that serves only the same mayor that hates you.
commanders are self-serving politicians. No, you don't have a sudden windfall of "extra" manpower. On the other side, the teachers were on full paid vacation since the closing of schools, enjoying backyard BBQ with family and friends, drinking nice cold beers/drinks.

While we're on the topic of defunding the police and terrible leaders , the marine unit was rumored to have lost a $750,000 grant which was supposedly to be split between them and CFD. The story is CFD got everything and the marine unit got zilch!!! If this is found to be true, every white shirt at HQ is culpable because you can't keep ignoring the pink elephant in the room and you need to wake up and realize what idiots are running that unit into the ground. Aside from the lawsuits , lack of proper and legitimate training , false certifications , lack of safety procedures , sergeants bidding out , one member who keeps taking suspensions , and lack of new and updated equipment , what is it gonna take to fix all the damage caused by an incompetent Lt. and his small group of minions ? This is the largest city on the Great Lakes and there is a vital need for police on the waterways but it needs a dedicated and professional leader. Losing a grant especially to CFD is a slap in a face to the dedicated officers in this unit , the whole department , and the boating community who rely on these officers for help on the waterways .

I gather it's costing the City $4.4 MILLION per day
well I figure - what there are 7 Day off groups? then on any given day 1/7 x 2 (because 2 DOGS are off on any given day) 3,400 cops are supposed to be off work
using 12,000 cops for total manpower - 1/7 x 12,000 = 1714 for each DOG, then x 2 = 3400 for any given day
now say each cop (RDO cancelled) gets 18 hrs. (12 OT) at $40 per hour we have:
3,400 x 18 hours x $40/Hr. thats $2.4 MILLION right there.
Now the remaining cops, about 8,600, get the 4 hrs. OT, which = 6 hours straight time we get and additional:
8,600 x 6 hours x $40/Hr. = $2 MILLION
Add that to the RDO cancelled of $2.4 MILLION = $4.4 MILLION
What about the dozen or so city garbage trucks parked on North Ave starting Friday and ending Sunday night? Apparently waiting for orders to shut down north-south streets.
I counted 6 parked near North & Wells. 3 of the trucks had drivers sitting in the cab watching doing nothing except for watching movies on their phones.
At least the trucks were not idling for 48 hours straight spitting out fumes as they were a few weekends ago when temps were in the 90s.
CPD is run by a bunch of fuck'n idiot's. McDonald's is run by one CLOWN, CPD is run by many fuck'n CLOWNS!!!!!
