- The current and former chairmen of the City Council’s Committee on Public Safety were accused Wednesday of backing out of a “Support the Police” rally under pressure from Mayor Lori Lightfoot and from constituents who support defunding the Chicago Police Department.
Ald. Chris Taliaferro (29th), a former Chicago police officer now chairing the committee, and Taliaferro’s predecessor, Ald. Ariel Reboyras (30th), do not plan to attend the “Back the Blue” rally outside the Jefferson Park police district, 5151 N. Milwaukee Ave.
The rally is co-sponsored by three Northwest Side aldermen: Nick Sposato (38th), Anthony Napolitano (41st) and Jim Gardiner (45th), but Taliaferro said the ‘Back the Blue’ rally was turning into a political show.

She is totally unqualified and moved up to Norwood Park from Madigan’s SW side neighborhood, a true carpetbagger.

What people forget is that police don't vote and the majority of this city doesn't like the police and they do vote. There is no ward in this city that has more than 5 percent of it thats police so that means that they need to cater to the other 95% that vote. Sposato has supported the police since he has been in office which is more than at least 40 of the other alderman do. Support those that support police since there isn't very many of them.

O’Shea plays the part of he supports the police but when it actually comes down to it he is first to stay away because he doesn’t want it attached to his name. O’Shea is a big part of the machine and knows if he attaches himself to support the almost entire ward is in charge of he won’t be part of that machine for long. Joyce should run for alderman. He’d get it by a landslide.
I recently received a text purportedly from alderman Napolitano asking if I would display a yard sign for "his friend" Michelle Darbro running for state rep. The official website for this "pro-labor Democrat" includes a quote attributed to Napolitano, which sounds like an endorsement. As well as a smattering of endorsements from various labor unions, including the Communist teachers' union. A call and email to the alderman's office to clarify his position went unanswered. Anyone else out there encounter this? Is this a scam? Dirty tricks? I'd hate to think that Naps went over to the dark side after such a short time in office, even if she is a fireman. By the way, the yard sign promptly went into the big blue garbage truck manned by 3 "pro-labor" union members.

ZERO, Nothing. Sposato sold out the people in his ward by helping to give a $80M school to the 41st Ward and Taft so he could get a sweetheart pension deal instead of standalone high school for his 38th Ward. The new school, Taft Freshmen Academy High School (7th-9th grade), was supposed to help Taft's overcrowded problem. The kids in his ward have to wait until enough Taft students get in from outside the 38th before they can be accepted in. Plus, Taft keeps letting in more and more students and are near 4000 students now with assurances to go 4200 by 2021.
And, the crybaby Taft teachers at the new $80M are crying that there's no parking and they have to walk two blocks to school. So, Sposato is working on a deal to rent Maryville's parking lot.
Sposato also sponsored a 'Feed the Troops' Go Fund Me campaign for the National Guard directing traffic by the COVID-19 testing for couple months and raised over $7500

The only problem is the troops were getting paid to work and having meals provided for them by the govt. Sposato only did so he'd look good in peoples' eyes. In reality, he and his staff were spending the FOUR hours at the office (10a-2p, M-F) getting businesses to deliver free food to the troops and his office.
Second problem was 1/2 of the money raised in the GFM came after the troops were gone. Where's that money???
O'shea says he is pro police because he runs the pancake breakfast for vests, that is nothing more than a photo op. When the heavy lifting needs to be done he hides hoping we will all forget in 3 years, I will make sure we never forget, you can bet on that. Everything O'shea does is calculated, hits up my buddys restaurant for 3000$ in campaign donations and doesn't want to end up like Cork & Kerrys where the City shut them down over some bullshit. You can bank on a candidate to run against Oshea, a person with integrity, something that office currently lacks. O'shea was gifted the office after Rugai retired, married to Skinny Sheehans niece was a prerequisite. The whole 19th ward has been an establishment machine, look at our ward and go up north and see what other wards look like. The 19th ward is stuck in the 70s compared to the beautification projects, street lighting, street paving etc etc. I can promise you, he will have never faced a tougher election then the next one thats coming for him. On a side note, he must agree with how Foxx is running her office as well, never spoke out about the revolving door of our justice system.

He does feel entitled to his position because it was handed to him by Ginger. I use to be happy when he first got ELECTED because he was really involved and back then would never tolerate what is being done today on the streets but he sold out.

Alderperson Jim Gardiner (45) is also a Democratic Committeeperson. Although he supports CPD, Gardiner is a politician first and supported Robert Martwick. Gardiner must support the Democratic Machine sometimes.
Ald. Nick Sposato (38) is supposedly Independent, but is allied with Groot, which is foolish, because she won't support him for re-election in 2023.
Ald. Anthony Napolitano (41) only supports CPD and CFD afflitated candidates. That's his choice, but having Michelle Darbro as state representative really won't benefit his ward much.
It's really up to CPD to decide on whether to retain these alderpeople in 2023 or not.
