I'm sorry. That's terrible. But she acts like it's your fault, like you like the 12's and no days off or any of the other crazy schedules you have had to work over the years. Griping you change jobs, well I get that one but not leaving. And pretty damn cowardly to skip out like that after 24 years. Not many women truly honor the vows they take when they marry. A good woman is harder to find than the winning lotto ticket. Of course women will complain and say the same things, but look who tends to divorce who. I'm so sorry, divorce is so hard, and more so with kids. My wife died, I will always feel empty but I know she didn't want to leave me. So I think divorce can be even harder to cope with than the death of a long time spouse. Best of luck to you my friend. Call someone if you feel really depressed and are not thinking right.

A few years ago I convinced my GF to visit Mexico City with me. I'd been there before, love it, great food, great people, etc., etc. just be street aware as you would in any other city of millions, and plan your night to end walking distance from your bed. She was terrified at the idea of going to Mex City, thought it was so dangerous.
She began to love it the moment we left the airport. Second night out, in Roma or Condesa (local version of Bucktown/Wicker Park), we're having a great time; table of locals next to us asks where we're from - "vivimos en Chicago" - they - "Isn't it really dangerous?! SO many murders!" GF laughed so hard at the irony, I'll never forget it.
Smirky (the Mayor) states in her interview “I NEED a BREAK, I encourage my staff to take a break,etc!” Well, I guess you better forget about CPD being part of her “STAFF” because for CPD there are “NO BREAKS!”.

I'm very saddened to hear this. As a CPD wife for 15 years, this job is very stressful. I know exactly what your wife is feeling. But I never considered leaving my husband with the kids. What you and many officers need more than ever is support, understanding and love from family to fight the evil that is out there. I wish your wife didn't leave like that. The hours and cancelling days off and weekends is not right. As a wife I am very patient and understanding. I just have to manage my days and time without him, unfortunately. I would feel like a single mom at times. But, I know he's a good provider, father, husband and worker. I have to be there for him and loyal. What he endures I also endure and I'll take it anytime as long as he comes home everyday. I wish you the best and I hope she changes her mind and comes back and you both work things out. Praying
