As New York Goes, So Goes Chicago

Trends seem to begin on one of the coasts and then migrate inward. This isn't a good trend at all:
  • New York City may lay off tens of thousands of municipal workers. Even with this massive downsizing, it won’t be enough to stem the financial hemorrhaging plaguing the city.

The Wall Street Journal reported that roughly 22,000 government workers need to be let go to close a $9 billion deficit that continues to grow.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said about the dire situation, “Here is a way to think about it—for every hundred million dollars in city budget—that’s about 2,200 city employees, on average.” He added, “To close a $1 billion dollar gap would mean laying off 22,000 city employees, which is a staggering number.” New York has about 330,000 municipal workers.
  • U-Haul trucks and other moving vehicles were seen out in abundance on Manhattan’s troubled Upper West Side across the weekend.

The seeming exodus comes just days after it was revealed residents in the area are planning to sue the city after thousands of homeless people were put up in luxury hotels in the neighborhood in a controversial attempt to stem the spread of COVID-19 amid the ongoing pandemic.

Natives of the typically up-scale neighborhood say the moving in of the vagrants has caused an increase in crime, random violence, drug use, public urination and open prostitution. Some locals claim sex offenders have also moved into the streets.
Chicago has that, too. In fact, recent estimates of people fleeing NYC range from three-quarters-of-a-million to an even one-million residents. One million voters with money enough to leave. Some pundits are claiming that New York is in play for the first time since Reagan, but we have our doubts.

Let me guess.

All due to covid...and riots, looting and "mostly peaceful protests" have nothing to do with it.

Libs who are fleeing are locusts and will descend on pleasant communities and states to destroy them.

The silent majority elected trump. Just wait for this election. Even the liberals are afraid of what will happen if a Democrat is elected president. It will be the biggest margin of victory ever. Then the president can enact laws to destroy these urban terrorists. The Civil War is here people. If you don't have your weapons and ammo already, you are sheep waiting to be slaughtered. BLM has shown their hand, they want everything for free with no consequences for criminal acts. If you disagree with them, they will kill you and rape your children. They have actually said that.

Somebody needs to check their math.
First, at 2200 workers per $100mil, $9bil would require laying off 198,000 workers.
Second, who the fuck believes NYC workers make only $45k/yr? It’s more like $145k.
The upside is, at $135k each, they only need to lay-off 66,000.

Chicago's future is very bleak. The unnecessary economic lockdowns destroyed thousands of businesses and tens of thousands of jobs that are not ever coming back. Tourism and convention business is over and never coming back, thanks to Democrat mayors and governors.

The constant "testing" for the Sars-CoV-2 virus is completely unnecessary, and not backed by hard science. Yet, the "testing" numbers are used to continue justification for the partially lifted lockdowns, and these numbers will be used later to justify a full lockdown again, in the fall. Once the full economic lockdowns come back, they are never going away. Everything that is happening to America was planned in advance, to force us into socialism/communism and a technocratic, tyrannical society. This evil plan is also called "The Great Reset," where a handful of billionaires (Bill Gaits, Jeff Bezos, etc.) will be the world dictators, while we become their slaves.

Wake up, people!

Many of the World's ills originated in New York.

Lev Davidovich Bronstein, better known as Leon Trotsky, was a Russian revolutionary, political theorist and politician. Ideologically a communist, he developed a variant of Marxism known as Trotskyism. Trotsky joined the Bolshevik Party.

While living in New York, Trotsky wrote articles for the local Russian language socialist newspaper: Novy Mir, and the Yiddish-language daily: Der Forverts.

Lenin Statue at Red Square in New York, New York: Salute the leader of the proletariat.

Walter Duranty, Stalin's man at the New York Times- A New York Times journalist for fourteen years (1922-1936) wins the famed Pulitzer Prize as a reward for covering up and fabricating reports about one of the greatest atrocities of the 20th century- Holodomor ('to kill by starvation') genocide.

Uhaul truck one way rental is $400-500 going out of shithole cities.

Same rental trucks inbound are $60-80.

If media was sentient, they'd write articles about it.

I recently compiled some data about U-haul moving costs going between various major US cities and an undisclosed location in Tennessee where the Plus family still has a presence (hint: it's in the mountainy conservative part, not the watery liberal part). C++ the Elder has often told me that the best way to truly know whether a region is doomed is to look at moving van costs going out versus going in, since if there's huge demand to leave but none to return they have to pay someone to drive the truck back in additon to the ususal supply-demand factors and logistical issues around dealing with lots of trucks in one place.

Here is a summary of the percentage difference for a number of cities, with higher percent meaning more expensive to move away from that city than to move to it (e.g. a city that costs $200 to move away and $100 to move to would be a 200% difference). In one case I substituted Boise as the move-to city because left-coasters typically don't go as far east as TN. Data was current as of a few days ago.

Minneapolis, MN 42.89%
Chicago, IL 418.77%
Brooklyn, NY 339.42%
Cleveland, OH 287.76%
Raleigh, NC 81.86%
Rapid City, SD 60.70%
Amarillo, TX 83.05%
San Diego, CA 221.67%
Milwaukee, WI 300.41%
Portland, OR (to Boise, ID) 379.54%

Congratulations Chicago, you lead the pack with an over 4x difference between entering and leaving. Pretty soon they just won't have any trucks left. Minneapolis was a surprise, especially since it's the one I was most curious about, but I suspect that it's a combination of the locals having deluded themselves into thinking that this will pass with sufficient virtue signaling (MN not being as hosed up for as long as most of the others) and preferring other places like Colorado and Florida. I am definitely not the only one in the region that's looking for the exits, though being unable to afford a house in this stupidly overpriced market may make me one of the first to actually make good on those plans.

Just an aside --- NYC is only 1.5x the size of Chicago, with 3x as many cops (and population). That comes out to twice the number of cops per geographical foot. That would make it easier to control the mayhem.

When this epidemic is over, it will be a massive job to clean these hotels and get them back in operation after the homeless and criminals move out. Many were bed bug infested before, imagine how they will look now. Business travel is a dead issue for another 1-2 years, at least and many companies are finding out that distance meetings on Zoom work very well. The conventions will have to come back at some point because companies want to show off their products.

This city could usually start with the teachers and the employees of Chicago teachers Union which take up at least 2/3 of your property tax bill but the mayor is scared because the Chicago teachers union pays off the elected officials hopefully the federal authorities will look into this it is a massive monumental amount of theft probably into the billions of dollars of taxpayers money. How can I Chicago teachers union give millions upon millions to the politicians to buy their contracts which are enormous.? Then I could look at all the employees sitting home city clerks office for example the mayors office The treasurers office not just the cities but also all the state and county they’re all sitting home.

Took a right on archer Road all the way out to route 83 it’s very dangerous on the road the signs are all covered up from overgrowth of trees you cannot see where the curves are on the road, nobody’s doing anything they can’t even cut the grass around there they’re all sitting home on their asses you mean to tell any of us the lie that they can’t be out in the air running the tractors and at least doing some of the jobs while the police officers firefighters garbage men are out there doing their jobs disgraceful Hypocritical and a crime. Fuck you Laurie and also fuck all the Democrats they are the reason for all of the falling of the United States of America the devils own workers.

Read somewhere the cost alone was staggering.......
In the area of $140-$180 PER NIGHT and PER ROOM,
One person per room.....
Meals delivered, rooms cleaned......
And they housed thousands.......
At $140 per night x 7 nights x 18 weeks so far = $17,000 EACH
x 100 homeless = $1,700,000. And if x 1000 homeless= $17,000,000
Somebody connected in those hotels must be making big bucks on the taxpayers!

Warren Wilhelm just might be the most hated mayor
in America,,,,,,,only because there are more people in NYC,,,,,

Donald J Trump changed his NYC home address, and when he sells off Trump International Chicago...you better hurry up your next move.
NYC has been in decline ever since Guiliani was maxed out.
Remember when Sinatra’s version of New York, New York was the city athem since 1968? Then along came the Divider-in-Chief and Dildo DeBozio... canned Sinatra for anti-police Jay-Z‘s empire song. Go and googlate the lyrics of this anthem.
Shit town will take a miracle to come back.

It CAN get worse...
Three more years of JB and Larri (both real estate tax cheats) that could very well quit before their terms ends and of course leave town too.
JB isn’t going to get his scheming graduated tax passes in November and Larri will not hesitate to raise taxes and fees.

Laying off non-essentials should have been done back in March. But Dems like to use up budgets to get increases the following year.
Rahm was not a financial guru, and certainly ShortShanks wasn’t either but Larri LightFührer is completely clueless and the Machine power players cannot stand her arrogance. She knows this. She mentioned changing her attitude (leopards don’t change their spots) towards those that she doesn’t agree with. She’s on her own and the accountants aren’t interested in her erratic antics.

Larri wants a bailout for her 15 months of wildly spending on programs to boost her image. All the while reformed NOTHING. Lots of tuff talk, no action but parrot chattering and not a pot to piss in to show.
Was a $220,000 office rehab necessary? $56 million for Contact Tracings? $5 million for census awareness and who knows how much for Mail-In ballot awareness, $6 million on Street Outreach for gun violence (refund coming?) and who knows what we’re into with that obama recreation center. Airports on the skids again and Chicago hasn’t put the breaks on expanding the runways and terminals. The list goes on.
Get a dollar spend five, six, seven.

Forget about winter and if it snows....

I see the context and sentiment behind the topic statement by SCC went right over your head. NY, as well as many traditional democrat states are in play because many people are waking up to the radical, socialist-communist movement to overthrow the government of the United States, and aren't down for that shit.

Despite the fast decline of NYC and Chicago, NY state and Illinois are not turning red in November, or any other year going forward. Nor are NJ, CA, CO, Washington state or Oregon, despite the shutdowns or the riots. Doped up CO is doubtful and NM has too many illegals (and sadly, AZ is getting there). Hawaii is solid blue. Given the mail in vote shitstorm to come, WI, MI & PA are going to be uphill battles. The problem with leftists moving from IL & NY is that the majority of them will take their blue votes with them, helping to turn FL or PA blue again.

Just my opinion, of course, but any country that allows BLM to be painted onto the street of its capitol and its largest city is a country that has fallen off the cliff. Despite the "silent majority" narrative and the likelihood Trump will overperform the polls, the fact that Biden is still even leading in any swing states is a red flag. The election will be close. Hell, we may not have a declared winner by Dec 1, which is another monkey wrench. As for Trump possibly securing 10%+ of the black vote, I think there's a better chance of Trump getting a Lightfoot endorsement, or a comet crashing crashing onto Groot's house.

Not to be a downer, but we don't want to be like the glass-ceiling Clinton crowd who had fireworks already planned before the election. The GOOD news is some folks are waking up & things are moving in the right direction.

Will look for any opinions/facts/info to counter mine. I really want to be more optimistic.

Unless someone cleans up the voter reg rolls, NY and IL will never be in play. Even if they emptied the cemeteries the dead will keep voting D until the rolls are cleaned up.

Because of this I suspect Fat Boy's tax will pass. Within 5 years the middle class will have been determined to be rich and they will be paying more. Their cries of "But he said only the rich would have to pay more!" will be as ineffective as they will be hilarious.
