Another Great Job by Downtown
So after the entire day crew checked the posted schedules for Monday and headed for home (0600-1800 or 0700-1900), downtown decided to cancel the twelve-hour days around 1930 hours.
Word went out to secretaries and any supervisors dumb enough to answer e-mail to text message everyone who was RDO to not come in and to everyone else that there was a completely new schedule to be posted. Cops who had canceled side jobs, arranged babysitters, told friends they weren't available for events - all out the window.
And, just to rub salt in the wound, the Department decided to reinstate training after three straight days of twelves at assorted locations, proving once again that no one downtown (taking a cue from Groot) gives a rat's ass about you, your family or your plans.
We're almost positive a text message does not count as an Official Notification, so you are entitled to pay for the cancelled day off if you showed up as the schedule dictated at the end of your tour Sunday. FOP should know how much.

This is a huge waste of manpower and depletes district manpower. Rumor is this downtown incident team will end around after the holiday(Christmas)
Texting notification should NOT be allowed as official police communications!
Hell, I leave phone messages on department phones and sometimes NEVER get a call back but certain employees expect us to follow the messages left!

This is a job. If You were contacted outside working hours. You are entitled to be paid. 3 hrs of overtime.
Contract guarantees you 8hrs at premium time when forced to work your RDO. That's 12 for just stopping in.

FOP NEEDS to address this issue in the contract regarding 12 hours and RDO's canceled. RDO's canceled should be triple time or double time.
Most of HQ Mon/Fri house mice are on furlough, you're just gonna have to get used to things getting a bit frazzled during these challenging times. I recall some event they canceled day offs, (maybe it was for championship post rioting) and then decided to cancel the cancellation. Text came while on the way in to start the tour but the few of us showed up had arranged a “gentleman’s agreement”...something that’s longgggg gone these days.
The Senseless Cowboy called an audible...resulting an off sides flag, 5 yard penalty, Pay Me.
Cancel the frumpy absentee mayors salary and restructure it.
Three hour, three day work week should be compensated accordingly AND cut that travel and entertainment budget by 2/3’s.
