- Chicago police shot and seriously wounded a person after their squad car was struck by gunfire in the Pilsen neighborhood on the West Side Monday night, authorities said.
The officers were in the 1300 block of West 19th Street about 10:45 p.m. when they noticed five people standing on the sidewalk, police said in a statement. Soon afterward, their car was hit by shots.
“Officers then returned fire,” the police department said in the statement, citing preliminary information.
One of the men on the sidewalk was hit and taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition, police said. Two people were arrested and two others remained at large.
“The (suspect’s) firearm was recovered on scene. There were no officers struck by gunfire or additional injuries reported,” the department stated.

I had to make a stop around there and one house had their front gate bolted shut. The 5 and 9 year old kids who lived there climbed over the 5 foot fence at least twice a day, to and from school.

There is an FBI report that came out a few days ago stating that they have information that all Gangs have come together in agreement to shoot Cops on the spot. I’m not sure why the CPD Department has not sent this out to every officer as a precaution. I guess the Intel is legit.

Couple years ago the gangs were threatening utility workers assigned to the fucked up areas. It's kinda different for them there, because there are so many vacant lots that, when they're up in the bucket they can be seen for blocks in any direction.
