That's Groot's Census Horse Abuser's steed, tucked away in a yard in Englewood this past spring. We recall some roll call banter about a horse being found wandering the streets, but since we don't social media, we didn't really follow it. Now someone has dug up the pictures that were all over Instagram, Twitter and Facebook because of the Aggravated Animal Abuse charges leveled at Groot's publicity stunt.
The yard was described as mud, garbage and horse-shit strewn, with a single bale of hay and no shelter as temperatures dipped into the 30's. Had it been a bit warmer, we're certain the insect problem would have been overwhelming. Why this wasn't a bigger deal, we'll never know.

Remember the dead horse in Englewood this past year? Different owner and it allegedly died at ripe old age of 28 but the fact that a carcass was left to sit in a yard- even overnight- is pure madness. How is it that anywhere else in the city, theyād be going nuts about a horse in a residential yard? I guess if you can drive ATVs on city streets, the rules of stabling a horse donāt apply either.

So this dope is given air time to speak and he not being a great orator didnāt have much to say except he did it for the kids (Kids Lives Matter). This is like if someone comes to your house to speak to you they set your porch on fire to alert you that they are there wishing to speak with you.
So in three months he destroyed this horseās life forever. She is permanently injured and may have to be destroyed if she doesn't improve. She has suffered a bleeding hoof, another leg injured, she was dehydrated, overheated, and can never be ridden again. And when she slowed down he whipped her.
And now the narrative is all about him, he did it for the kids, and answered the call of the Mayor. And now he is a hero, he has supporters, he has a Go Fund Me Page. There is no contrition for what he did and anyone he inconvenienced. And he has expressed no remorse for what he did to the horse.
This is the new society we live in now.
Do you think the neighbors ever called the police for a horse in the yard. When I was in 016 ages ago there were always calls for, a possum or raccoon in the yard. Is the horse a chick magnet or like having two thousand dollar rims on a ghetto beater.

We worked right there a few years ago, could see the horse from the job. Had 3 shots fired warnings from the company over the phone. ( don't know how they know before we do.) Had to jump in the hole three times, we could have seen the last shooting but we were hiding in the hole. Like it was nothing. Cant figure out how the horse hasn't been shot yet. That area is like OK Corral.

According to a Facebook post, Animal Control was called many times about the Horses being abused - they came out once and issued a warning. Nothing else happened.

The horse is all over Englewood in backyards. That wasnāt the only time. This guy was all about show when it came to the horse not about learning about it and caring for it. Petting the horse and telling everyone that you love the horse is not the same as actually caring for the horse. Mistreatment is mistreatment. Leaving it in a residential yard for days at a time is abusive. Also, there were never any nails of hay in the hard for it, it ate the grass and weeds on the ground was weāve seen before. I guess Iām just as guilty as hundreds of other coppers in that we could have reported it months ago. Instead we all just laughed, took pictures and drove away. We should have all gotten involved and called animal control for the horse but we didnāt.

I have had a few cases involving these types of charges and the liberal judges and animal rights groups really take them seriously. If it was aggravated batt to a PO? It would be tossed or plead down to simple battery. But anyt charges with animals as the victims, they pack the gallery with PETA supporters and the judges take notice.

Horse is recovering and doing well in an unknown horse stable.
Is there an ordinance prohibiting horses or other farm animals in the city? Chickens are allowed, I think goats are too. But I would not do that. Is there a law about a horse having shelter? How does this get enforced? Anov? How soon after a horse dies( if it goes) do I you need to call a ( rendering truck?) To remove it. I would not have these as animals in the city. But, if some do...
Some of the worst animal abuse Iāve seen has almost always been in black & brown neighborhoods. I rescued a dog once that was being chased by a bunch of kids with sticks- all no older than 9. The black community reminds me of the Amish community in that sense. Animals are utilitarian to Amish, but to the black community they often seem to be status or an extension of neglect & violence for some. There seems to be some limbic system disconnect. There was a program that was in CPS that tried to work with kids and educate them on animal treatment. I think it just fizzled out. The ideology that often animal abuse was a predictor of other types of violence, so this program was somehow supposed to retrain what they were accustomed to in their community & hence, diminish those patterns in violence. Someone like this goof of a ācowboyā while being taught how to ride a horse, doesnāt seem to really understand the more important part of that relationship, the bond. Riding something, using it for a utilitarian purpose , mere ownership doesnāt ensure a bond will take place. Iām not sure you can teach that to someone. Especially if someone only sees that horse, that dog, etc as a possession and not as a relationship.
