Abandoned

You think businesses don't notice the lack of cops in the neighborhoods?

  • One of the West Side’s main commercial corridors was in freefall after the one-two punch of the pandemic and looting that devastated many businesses.

Now an uptick in street violence and drug sales in broad daylight threaten to be the final nail in the coffin for businesses along Madison Street in West Garfield Park, business owners said.

Business owners and chamber of commerce leaders said police officers are nowhere to be found along the corridor, which has become too dangerous for customers.

Where might this little slice of heaven be located?

  • In the Harrison (11th) Police District, which includes the stretch of Madison Street, shootings are up 50 percent, murders up 26 percent and robberies up 15 percent compared to this point in 2019, according to police data.

According to internal CPD counting, 011 just had it's eightieth homicide last week.

You read that correctly - 80.

And aldercreature Ervin, who "represents" most of that area (along with crack houses in Maywood) is strangely silent - almost like Groot told him to shut up and not mention all the cops stripped out of the west side and sent downtown.

And yes, we know downtown is an economic engine supplying tons of tax revenue. But there are still actual people who live in Lawndale and Austin and Garfield Park who are paying a steep price for Groot's mismanagement.

"And yes, we know downtown is an economic engine supplying tons of tax revenue."

Obviously you have to reallocate resources to, "put out fires" as they say in the business world, but you can only do that for so long until your customers, or in this case, the businesses themselves can no longer sustain their presence, and move or simply close down.

Look at Madison & Pulaski all these years after the riots. It's a damn desert, man.

With that being said 011 still have more officers than all districts north from Belmont combined. If fact, often in 011 officers are tripping on each other with historicaly same outcome - #1 in violent crime. Place is a complete filth, bosses are there just to have it on resume. devils toting guns and dope on the corner around so called shopping corridors are protected by foxxx Inc. They may as well remove all police from 011 and send these murder loving savages dins and vins electronically or via social workers.

Why is this OK every weekend in Chicago??? Sometimes at several locations.
Other than Hey Jackass and SCC this is not news anywhere. Why not???

*A mass shooting is an incident involving multiple victims of gun violence. There is no widely accepted definition of the term mass shooting. The United States' FBI follows the Investigative Assistance for Violent Crimes Act of 2012 definition for active shooter incidents and mass killings (defined by the law as three or more people) in public places. Based on this, it is generally agreed that a mass shooting is whenever three or more people are shot (injured or killed), not including the shooters.[1]

It is the people of the South and West sides that pay the price for everything! They have been designated cannon fodder for the leftist agenda. That pile of bodies we accumulate at the end of the year, those 600, 700 or even 800 dead people are all for the most part UNARMED BLACK MEN. But hey, they don't seem to mind; if they did mind, they should do something about it besides blame the rest of us, we all in bed when that shit go down.

The funny thing is about protecting downtown. Its not ever going to come fully back the longer the mayor keeps it shut down the more people and business realize they can work from home or from another remote location. Why should they pay the high taxes when they don't have to. The democrat politicians are that stupid to realize. Keep it closed for your political gain - NOT, the only gain is going to where the republicans control and are open.

Can wiser minds than mine please explain this...Chicago is promoting "Open House Chicago". This is an effort to encourage folks to come to the city and tour it's cultural heritage in the neighborhoods. First, so much of the "heritage" has been torn down. Second, and exceptionally important, so much of citizen safety (police) has been relocated to downtown. How can visitors safety be assured in the neighborhoods without police presence?

The hood always had the most police with the least tax payers. They complain about too much poolice HAraaasing peoples. Now complaining not enough police. Its tuff to patrol those that are "impossible" when you cant do this, don't do that, don't chase, do not stop him cause hes black ( meanwhile the whole neighborhood black..), do not point your gun bla bla bla. Then more training on how not to be the police. So what happens? The deceptive criminal takes advantage of soft police. More crimes, more police getting hurt, and more citizens being hurt. Way more citizens getting hurt than the collateral damage by police putting handcuffs too tight or even rarely killing someone without clear justification. Even then since obama started the war on police in 2008 we had way too many watchdog groups. The criminals cause way more damage now. So their solution is to blame police and increase the watchdog groups. People policing police that know nothing about law enforcement. Idiots!

A hating police board and COPA is very bad for the safety if our communities. Lightfoot needs to be removed from office before Chicago dies.

The Sour, Manic Twitch Larri so far has $50 million (?) in Covid’s pledges destined for zip code specific Communities Re-Investment to rebuild what they destroyed just last July....and periodically since 1968. Oh yeah and don’t forget Larri wants a casino plopped down somewheres on the west side will bring in tourists, revenues and jobs. And speaking of Merit picks without accountability, there’s also gonna have to be set asides for Jugghead SpecialEd’s pincushion settlemints.

When I was a kid in the 50’s we shopped at Baer Brothers and Prodi and went to the Marlboro Theatre, both of which were on Madison, just west of Pulaski. 2 enormous theaters were on Pulaski, the Paradise and the Crawford. The Marlboro rivaled any theater that was downtown for opulence and beauty. Difficult to remember now what an enormous shopping and entertainment destination Madison and Pulaski was. All of it is gone now, of course.....long gone.
