The Future is in Los Angeles

And it's almost certain to come with a body count:

  • The Los Angeles City Council has unanimously voted to created a pilot program to send “unarmed response” teams to nonviolent calls which are currently handled by the city’s police department.

Every election we see a majority of voters in California cast ballots against their own interests, but its fascinating to watch elected Democrats not only vote for something with an obvious flaw, but to celebrate doing so.

The decision to explore keeping police officers away from some calls by the Democratic-run council was made this past week and hailed by the council’s president, Nury Martinez, according to KTTV.

Martinez said of the decision in a media release, “Today marks a seminal moment in our City’s history in our efforts to reimagine public safety.”

And as soon as the first social worker gets beaten, robbed, raped, maimed or killed, some asshole will ask, "How could this happen? Where were the police?"

Hell, with the realization that there's some sick fucks out there looking to do harm to females, Realtors are carrying firearms now...

How exactly are they going to determine which calls are "non-violent" and will stay that way? Raise your hand if you've ever been called to a neighbor dispute over a parking space and - boom- all the sudden punches are thrown. Raise your hand if you've ever been called to a restaurant about an "upset" customer and -boom- weaves start flying. How about the guy "acting strangely" at the park and then you see a blade in his belt and he's drooling? Boom!

So what calls are these social workers going to respond to that are guaranteed to be "non-violent"? I sure as hell never knew.

These people will not figure it out even after a lot of social workers are beaten, robbed, raped (putative males as well as females) and murdered. The politically correct crowd will no be dissuaded even after there are a lot more domestic homicides as well. I expect that it will be necessary for several domestic violence cases to escalate to mad shootings before these people begin to wonder if maybe it would be a good idea to have armed police officers in scene ASAP to deter or respond to deadly violence.

I can see having trained mental health and social workers on the streets and readily available. But, not as a replacement for the police, but as a supplement to the police. Byt the very nature of these calls to the police, these are disturbances which involve people in crisis and violent to some degree. The police never know what they are walking into on every call. Let these fools " reimagine public safety", again. They have already reimagined public safety and not for the better when they took all of the tools away from the police. Things will only get worse. There are two occupations that everyone thinks they know how to do; that of a NFL coach and that of a police officer, all second guessing.

It will end up just like animal control calls. For those who are not the police, when a citizen calls on an animal incident the dispatcher should send the incident to animal control to handle unless the animal is a threat to the public. But that does not happen. The dispatchers just make every call a “vicious animal” and sends the police. Also, if animal control refuses to respond to the call, yes they can refuse. Example, animal control usually refuses to respond to wild animal calls like a fox or raccoon walking in the neighborhood. But the police can not refuse and are given the jobs that animal control refuses. Same thing will happen with social workers. They will request police respond to every job or dispatchers will upgrade every call to make police respond.

Obviously you are not and have never been a police officer. Your lack of knowledge is sad. I’ve handled thousands upon thousands of jobs in which no arrests were made or required. We have lists of programs, private and governmental, to which referrals can be made and today this info is as close as your smartphone. There is much more to police work than it seems you could possibly fathom. Take the test, join up and show us what we’ve been doing wrong all these years.

The vast majority of non-police will think this is a great idea. It actually is a good idea if everyone who called the police was a good citizen, played within the rules of law and was actually looking for help. But what non-police don’t understand is that most people call the police to be the judge, jury, Mother, Father, or punching bag for their screwed up life. You would not believe how many times the police are called to “kick out” a friend or family member who lives in the house. The Chicago Police do not evict people, the Cook County Sheriff does and only after a judge issues the order. I wish I had a dollar for every time I responded to a domestic where the son/daughter was “disrespecting” the mother and they wanted the police to “take them.” This was sometimes the adult children but often it was very young children. Yes, mothers call the police on their four year old because they have no clue on how to raise their children. It will never work in the crime ridden areas of any city because the people who call the police in those areas choose to live outside the rules that most of us try to follow.

"When you need help, call a crackhead" is coming true in Communistfornia. Yeah, this will end well the first time a "nonviolent" call gets violent. When I was a non-sworn Community Service Officer in a suburb, I would up being first in on a verbal domestic with an intoxicated husband with the car keys and in the car, while the wife tried to get him to give up the keys. I got her to step back from the car while calling in for the cops, and went up to the car and talked with him for a minute (he was rather blotto anyway), and bought time for the cops to show up and handle it. But I knew it could have turned to shit in a number of ways, and knew I had nothing on me but bare hands if it went badly. From being a part-time officer elsewhere and a dispatcher, I knew enough to stay safe, but will the average social worker or "communitah organizah"??

I would love to see the recruiting process for this social worker. Job responsibilities, educational requirements, pay rates.

The job application form should include the following items:

It is a 24/7 position. Workers will work all shifts and days, including holidays.
Since they will be responding to tense situations there is a possibility of encountering violence. And injuries.

Let's see how many apply.

I agree but also have points of contention. Yes a lot of stuff we respond to isn’t a police issue. I’d have to see a list of calls they’re going to want to take over but my issue is, how many silly stupid calls turn into something violent? Are they going to handle mental health disturbances? Those go bad all the time. Are we going to have to escort them on certain calls? Then we will be tied down baby sitting these fools.

LA is totally fucked up.

I'm retired fire from there and hauled ass out of CA exactly one month after retiring 8-years ago. And believe me, there are thousands of cops and fire from LA/CA that have done and will do the same thing.

As cops and fire we get to see behind the curtains and what we've seen for the past 20-years is frightening. A rapidly shrinking middle class and Illegals being treated to more free shit than our poor and disabled residents.

You think you have a homeless problem? Go to downtown LA and witness the hundreds and hundreds of tents everywhere. You'd think you're in a middle east war refugee camp. You have to roll up your car windows cuz it smells like piss for miles around.

CA is bleeding money in public pensioners leaving for red states and big businesses relocating to Texas, Nevada, Arizona, Utah and Idaho.

That fuck-head governor still has the state shut down due to the planned-demic.

Now unarmed response to 911 calls. You just can't make this stuff up.

Some nonviolent calls will result in imgormation leading to gray area lawsuit style arrests. Liberals want to vote like Europeans by endorsing Dementia Biden and preffer unarmed police. Why don't they just move to europe if it sucks here? Quit trying to F up our country! Bad enough they are the party of Pedo Island. Even convicts attack pedos in the prison population. While the initial 911 Call may be NON VIOLENT in nature and the NO weapons may be visible or reported, this does NOT mean that the Situation will remain non violent! Too, even an entirely unarmed person can become violent! This is madness by people who have never faced a lethal threat, even once in their lives. This speaks to a growing dis connect between those who make policy and those who carry out policy on the streets.
