Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s plan to fill the missing link in police reform hit a snag days before the stay-at-home shutdown triggered by the coronavirus.
The 11th-hour disagreement between the mayor and the Grassroots Alliance for Police Accountability was over who would have the final say on police policy whenever there was a disagreement between the civilian oversight board and the Chicago Police Department.
The mayor’s version made her the final arbiter. The Grassroots Alliance insisted the seven-member civilian oversight board be empowered to impose its will on policy, even when the CPD and the mayor disagree.
Now the mayor is declaring an impasse, saying she intends to move forward with her version of civilian police review. Ald. Chris Taliaferro (29th), the former Chicago Police officer who chairs the City Council’s Committee on Public Safety, said he’s had a “change of heart” and now sides with the mayor.
Politicians don't give up power willingly. So Groot isn't about to let a board of civilians decide the fate of politically connected cops who get caught dirty. Its the unconnected who get suspended and fired, not future aldercreatures who get caught on video stealing cell phones. She also isn't going to let them undercut future choices for Supernintendos.

Here is what I have learned as I have been the police for over 25 years. There is no such thing as "POLICE BRUTALITY", there is no such thing as "THE BLUE CODE OF SILENCE"(however, it was an excellent movie), there is NOT nor has there ever been a "PATTERN OF PRACTICE" by the police to keep anyone down and I do not care what the DOJ said! However, there has been corruption and systemic RACISM brought by 93 years of Democratic rule in this City of Chicago and around the USA by the Democrats and in every city they have governed. The Democrats told the police, "Get those people out of my Park!" back in 1968, and we did, the Democrats even told the police to get those gangbangers off the street corners and in front of businesses through the decades of 1970 all the way through 2014, and we did. In fact the "PATTERN OF PRACTICE" has always been doing what the DEMOCRATS TOLD US TO DO, and like good public servants we did what we were told to do because it was "OUR JOB". So why is the Chicago Police Department under a "CONSENT DECREE"? Again, I do not get it, and further more, "WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO ABOUT?!"

As these final days tick by I am afraid that the Democratic mob will win.

They never boycott or resign from companies who finance their enemies. It never occurs to them (or they are too busy to care) that their children are being indoctrinated by marxists in public schools and universities. Conservatives I do believe will never be a minority, but if the majority of them have not woke up in time, it will be too late and their voices wont matter. I will be voting straight R but, IMHO, Dan Bongino says it best "The Republicans may not be the solution to all of these problems but the Democrats are the reason for all these problems."
I am voting straight R ballot in case the election goes to the House. Then the state legislatures will determines where each states one vote goes.
This could be a possible scenario for the election. For example, the new congress will start on 01/04/21. If there is an electoral college tie or of there is enough chaos from mail-in-vote-fraud that neither candidate gets to 270 electors because some states loose their electors on Dec 14 then the House decides by one-vote per state determined by the party of each state legislature. Right now there are 26 R state legislatures. She thinks they will flip 2 so she is determined to go the chaos route plus delays until Jan 4.
Speaking of that, with the POTUS/HOUSE/SENATE, they can pass legislation taking the voting for Senator going to the State legislature as opposed to popular vote.
ALSO, with respect to the mail in voting scam, the Republican state congress should change the voting process to eliminate all mail-in voting to Solicited ballots. Paperwork for the Solicited ballots will include a request at the county court house with legitimate identification (no electric bill) and a signature to be matched to the absentee ballot before allowing the vote to count. If someone can’t do that once every 2 to 4 years then there’s no reason they should be allowed to vote. And i almost forgot... a clear thumb or index finger print for identification along with the government issued ID card with a mug shot on it.

I can't give current figures because I have been retired for nearly 10 years, but around the time of my retirement here in Michigan, it cost 35,000 per year to incarcerate a felon. We can't afford to lock them all up. The idea of imprisonment as a punishment has not been the case for most of history. At the time our country was founded, there were nearly 300 crimes for which a person was just killed. The lawless do not appreciate how good they have had it.
Violent criminals being incarcerated then turned loose by Foxx makes no sense. Never has. More things need to be capital offenses.
How much does it cost to leave them on the streets. Do you realize the normal daily carnage in Chicago is greater than all the killings in Northern Ireland during the worst of the troubles?
