When are we going to see some government cost cutting efforts?
Do you know that Crimesha has had SAO employees working 20 hrs a week and still collecting a full paycheck?
This has been going on since covid started with some employees not coming to work at all and still receiving full benefits.
Judges haven't been hearing cases at anything like a regular schedule and are still making six-figures with a funded pension awaiting their retirement.
Anyone have a current population count of Cook county Jail? Dart sent everyone home in case they caught COVID, so no the inmate count is the lowest it has been in decades. But Dart's budget is still growing.
How about the teachers? They haven't shown up to work in seven or eight months, teach remotely, so they don't have any sort of expenses like they used to for travel, vehicle maintenance, supplies for kids, clothes, etc. In fact, they could probably have a single teacher teach a single subject for kids citywide remotely, then have unpaid grad students looking to become teachers conduct on-line study sessions for kids who need extra help.
Did you know that system-wide, CPS attendance is somewhere around 30%? Does that sound like a system that deserves to be fully paid?
Did anyone notice that CPS is still paying janitorial staff for cleaning buildings....that aren't being used?

Two days later she called my unit and left several times demanding that I respond to her. Low and behold she was working from home the day she subpoenaed me to court. I responded after 30 days.

Imagine the uproar from the city workers if they weren’t getting their full salaries and bennies? There’d be a mini revolt at the polls and demoRats can’t have that, thereby losing control.

The jail is past it’s max. They are housing inmates in gymnasiums because they won’t put 2 inmates in the same cell. They went through the entire ot budget in May. Some of the poor officers are still getting mandated 4 days a week. The fact that J.b and IDOC won’t take shipments is not helping. The amount of inmates in the jail is about 5500. Just keep in mind that they all have there own cells.

The State employees too. For months, if you weren't able to work remotely, you just sat at home and did absolutely nothing. Not a speck of work. And got full pay and benefits. No attempts to make remote work started until at least July. Most state employees aren't back at work now. Some go in once a week, some even less.
And yet, the state is broke...

Archie McCardell started with a huge, profitable company and left behind a wreck in short order, partly due to incompetence in dealing with the UAW, in the view of many who were there. Retirees got monthly payments that did not increase over time. Ouch. Harvester also ran down Wisconsin Steel on 106th, and dumped its pensions on a new owner just in time to escape that debt bomb. The Wisconsin Steel retirees got pathetic lump-sum payouts after years of litigation.

I have traffic court (actually my daughter) coming up an it's on Zoom - should be interesting
Catholic schools are all in person - grade schools anyway - they do have an option of either 100% opting out/in but I think most actually go to school
Heard that there is a CPS teacher, not sure the school, who keeps canceling class because her internet connection is down. She evidently is living in Greece and their infrastructure isn’t very good there. Unfrickenbelievable.
How about we make these teachers teach from their classrooms and meet with at least one student/family a day. All about the children my ass. It’s all about the money.
They should use this opportunity to fire all of them and rehire non union teachers.

I was once subpoenaed to court on a Monday morning after it snowed all weekend and was still snowing that day.
I drove from the southeast side of the city to 26 n Cal in the bad traffic. Finally got there and learned the ASA wasn’t there. I waited awhile and asked for her again and was finally told the offender plead out over the weekend and I didn’t need to appear.
The ASA that signed my must’ve noticed my facial expression and apologized for his co worker. I smiled and thanked him, knowing I would not appear in court again for the remainder of my 27 years on the job.
And I didn’t.
Sounds like these units and tact, hahaha

CPS still pays their security to sit around the schools during the daytime even though no schools are open. How about all those people that work "Safe Passage"? Like clockwork, they are out there every day doing absolutely nothing and getting paid. Then again, when school is open they still do absolutely nothing and get paid.
