- The Civilian Office of Police Accountability released body-worn camera footage Thursday that shows a man stabbing a cop in her protective vest before other officers fire a series of fatal shots at him.
There's video at the links. The sergeant is damn lucky.
But this part is worse. COPA also released a phone call by a "concerned citizen" who video taped a largish portion of the incident and proceeded to call 911 where he told the call taker that police had shot a guy for absolutely "no reason."

Watch the video of the black cop's bodycam leading up to the shooting. I love this officer! Stood up to a potential suspect causing problems, told suspect he would make ot right if he was wrong, and sprinted to take care of business in the nick of time. Sometimes 15 shots is barely enough. The dude HAD a knife. They KNEW he had a knife. The taser didn't work. He got up, charged the officer, and everyone sort of froze...as riots, and looting, and career loss, and jail time flashed through their heads.
Therefore, a cop almost got killed with a knife (the same cop appears to almost get killed by friendly fire) because they WAITED TOO LONG. What' the rule, 21 feet? That rule was just proven again. Dude should have been aired out the moment he got up and started making forward progress. MAYBE then the cop wouldn't have gotten stabbed.
But most importantly, THIS is why we need a tough state's attorney, to keep scum like this behind bars, and a tough mayor, to squelch stupid looting and rioting every time a cop justifiably shoots a scumbag. Sarah did great, well done, she deserves a medal since she tried to preserve the animal's life, she gave him a chance. But in order to see the full picture here you'd have to understand what crap officers have to go through following an Officer involved shooting. Crimesha will be looking to charge the officers. She can go fuck herself. Detectives will conduct their interrogation. Who knows, maybe hoping beat officers slip up in the wording. The officers' WOL hopes it's shift change before the time comes to hit approve on those TRR's. Hospital staff want you discharged ASAP due to increased media presence and negative publicity. Times have changed, 2020 isn't 2013 and additionally it's a fucked up job and not worth it anymore.
There it is on video. This is what the public wanted, accountability. If it wasn't on camera all the morons would have come out of the weeds saying they saw the man on his knees with his hands up and the police shot him and then planted the knife on him. The police were called there, they gave clear verbal commands to this individual to put his hands up, they tried the taser and then as a last resort the assailant was shot by an officer. We are lucky we didn't have to go to another officer's funeral. It's right there on a silver platter, what else can we do. Rialmo did not have the optics that we have in this case. The main reason they gave when he was fired by the police board was they felt that he could have retreated and not fired his weapon. She was giving me her spiel (because her husband is a psychologist) that part of the problem with policing is our training, because we are trained to be “on guard,” not relaxed or something similar to that sentiment (head on a swivel). This is the kind of tripe that people who sit in comfy chairs “working from home” surmise. I related to her because if we aren’t on our guard, it could cost us our lives or someone else’s life. She barely acknowledged my thoughts, because she nor her psychologist husband are walking up to a job where somebody may indeed be ready to harm them. Then she told me about her BLM sign planted in her yard and how safe she feels in her suburban neighborhood. It’s getting harder to be around people I once liked

The white officer said his gun jammed initially. By the time the black officer ran on the scene (btw, I loved watching him in action ... a real life version of a Samuel L. Jackson movie role) they both began firing and saved the Sgt's life. I'm no expert, but it looked like very difficult shots because of the close proximity of the attacker to the Sgt.
I'm not exaggerating when I say the 3 Officer's bodycam videos were more exciting than any movie I've watched (and I'm old!)
My God... so thankful that LEO is ok, physically of course. Mentally and emotionally will take a little longer. I don't see how anyone can skew that into "police just shot him for no reason". MSM needs to put that footage on the news so the braindead citizenry can see for themselves just what went down. You know they won't, though.

The officer who fired the shot should be meritoriously promoted, to Sgt or detective.
If this were a real professional LE organization, the sergeant would get her pick of spots to come back to after some well deserved time off and counseling and BOTH of those coppers that saved her life would get their picks of merit promotions (either detective or sergeant) and be handed their promotional stars in a small ceremony in the brown clowns office.
The dept would rather train us in procedural nonsense than the critical tactics and firearms training than our officers so desperately need. Too many are not trained enough to save their own lives. The training we get from the dept is designed to shift all liability to us and has nothing to do with critical skills. That sgt is lucky the other officers were there, her inexperience with tasers that don't work all the time and not having a plan B and C if A failed almost got her killed. Not trying to be critical, but its the truth. The dept should have mandatory training based on this incident.
