Fatass Tax Hike

What he isn't telling you during all those commercials attempting to stoke "class envy:"

  • So I just saw a commercial for the fair tax act. Claims that 97% of Illinois will pay the same or less taxes. Also says at the end, "Who should pay the tax? You or the billionaires?" So this led to some research.

How many billionaires are in IL? The answer is 18. Yes only 18 billionaires in our state and we should believe they will pay all this tax?

Now the real kicker. Of those 18 billionaires, 6 of them share the same last name:

    PRITZKER.

Yes it's true. 30% of our billionaires are in his family. Is Illinois that stupid to believe he wants to increase tax on only his family?

Wake up. Do some research and vote NO on this nonsense fair tax scam.

We're assuming this is some sort of social media post - it came to us as a disjointed paragraph, so we added line breaks to make it look better.

A quick Google search shows that there are only 18 billionaires in Illinois, so that's factual at least. And each owns multiple houses here and elsewhere, so "moving out" to avoid Illinois taxes is a real possibility. Once that happens, Porky's tax moves down a few tiers. Pretty soon, it moves down a few more as the other ultra rich move or "move" out of Illinois.

Also worth noting that, last I checked, the Pritzker family fortune is shielded by an impenetrable web of trusts and tax havens. So they probably wouldn't even have to move, since the money only exists in such circumstances that they find convenient. Bunch of other real estate guys on that Forbes list--they never, ever just keep their money lying around in a bank account somewhere.

Why are Dems pushing so hard for this joke of a "fair tax"?
Because they need political cover for the coming massive tax hikes.

Dems control the entire state and if they wanted to raise more tax revenue they could just raise taxes right now within the existing law, but it would be disastrous politically. Instead, they've tricked the voters into thinking only the rich people who remain in Illinois will save us by accepting an even bigger load then they do now. Then later, when the mostly low-information voters of Illinois also get hit with a whopping increase, Fatty and Madigan will just shrug and tell the voters "it was your idea."

No new taxes.

All the harm FatBoi has done but it's always about denial and deflection, shifting blame and flat out lying. Govs. Jay Inslee (WA), Kate Brown (OR), Gavin Newsom (CA), Phil Murphy (NJ), Gretchen Whitmer (MI), Tony Evers (WI), Tim Walz (MN), Ralph Northam (VA), John Carney (DE), Steve Sisolak (NV), Michelle Lujan Grisham (NM), and J.B. Pritzker (IL), released a joint statement today on recent threats to the democratic process and reports of efforts to circumvent the election results.

One laughable quote, "“As governors, it is our solemn duty to protect the people of our states". And just look at their states, most a total mess.

His money is sheltered in the family tax exempt foundation and offshore accounts. He'll be taking a big tax write off on businesses due to virus. Why aren't we demanding to see his tax returns? A google search of his foundation annual 990 shows how much he has sheltered in the foundation and where it goes.

We’re #1. We’re #1. We’re #1. Illinois has lost residents for the last six straight years. No other state has that track record. In 2019, Illinois lost 51,250 residents, more then any other state. Illinois has lost more residents this decade,159700 people, then any other state. Pritzker’s solution to this mass exodus is to raise taxes and drive more of the tax base out of Illinois? Good idea Fatass!

Grab your ankles all you rich bastards, JB's a comin! Rich as in drawing a pension, government or private. Drawing social security and last but not least, all you skin flints that make half as much as a teacher or cop. Don't worry, they'll make it possible for all you envious jerks to laugh at the people who decide to move into a free state and they'll tax whatever income you make from that pension that came from here still taxable even though you relocated to Florida. If you vote for this tax and it passes, you'll be shooting yourself in the foot if you are even close to middle class. But don't worry, SEIU, the teachers unions and the public aid recipients will vote for it. It's gotta be good if the leaches and communists like it, right?

Nothing is preventing Porky from donating his money to Illinois. He doesn’t need a tax increase on 30% of billionaires like his family. Oh wait ... the tax will be a tax on the middle class once our esteemed legislature drops the “progressive” rates into middle income territory. Ok - that makes sense ... so Gov Porky is blowing smoke up our rear ends to empower the inept state legislature so they can increase tax rates on all Illinoisans (especially the middle class) once this Trojan Horse lie gets passed. Let’s be honest, Porky doesn’t want taxes to go up on his family - he wants our tax rates to go up - taxing pensions too. Be smart and vote NO on the tax increase.

When Illinois decides to tax me, I can become a resident of Florida, Texas, or Wisconsin within 72 hours, cancelling my Illinois' drivers license, my voters registration, and place a forward of all my mail to my new home. What the Democrats do not comprehend is that they cannot repeal the laws of economics. And that means they cannot stop people who have the ability to move to escape taxes. The working poor and middle class can't afford to move. They will be stuck with the ever increasing taxes on all that deficit spending.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Ken Griffin the billionaire chairman of Citadel paid $37 million for a vacant lot on Star Island in Miami Beach for a future home. Citadel has also rented hotel and office space to move some of their trading operations out of Chicago. Florida has no state income tax. The $20 million he "donated" to defeat the Fair Tax in Illinois is piss away money for him.

He like all of the other hedge fund billionaires who moved their operations out of New York to FLA ain't dummies. Their getting the hell out of Dodge. They are only a few hours of Gulfstream flight time from savings tens of millions of dollars each per year in taxes. Bruce Rauner now lives in Key Largo FLA. See the pattern? The balance of the hardworking farmers and business owners in Illinois struggling to make a living during the Covid-19 shutdown are going to be fucked if the Fair Tax passes. Then the exodus from Illinois will really increase.

Owning multiple houses indicates that many of these ultra rich people might not use Illinois as their permanent home and then will not pay Illinois Income tax. My understanding is that Gov JB uses tax shelters on off shore accounts and has structured how he gets his income to specifically avoid paying state income tax on most of it. It all boils down to the definition of what income is according to tax law. Gov JB has never revealed his tax records so no one really knows how much state tax he pays. And, the media never asks him about this.

Anyone done a check whether JB's family uses their Chicago address as their primary domicile for IRS tax-purposes? There's a significant amount of REPORTED residency at their Florida and Wisconsin homes. Who knows if they're willing to disclose this travel because it serves an altogether different tax-related purpose?

The Pritzkers have demonstrated, time and again, their ruthless pursuit of economic gain, even at the cost of other Pritzker minor-aged children (Liesel, anyone?). I suspect the Pritzkers exercise the same fine-detailed application of IRS tax code as Trump. Note that JB hasn't castigated Trump for his $750 IRS tax payment --- Pritzker is in same category of tax-advantaged minimum tax payments. And EVERYONE should read Gus Russo's excellent book, SUPERMOB, to understand the near-criminals that Pritzker family has historically been.

I know several wealthy guys who are using their out-of-state residences as their primary home for tax-purposes, even while still conducting business here in Chicago. Anyone with a Wisconsin, Indiana, or Michigan 2nd home can exercise this "primary residency" choice, and many of those folks are already domiciled at their 2nd home during this Covid period, given that face-to-face business transactions have stopped anyways.

This is a Trojan Horse amendment, cloaked in "tax the billionaires", to steal more monies from the middle-class folks in Illinois. The wealthy folks will domicile themselves elsewhere. That's why "snowbirding in Florida" is already so commonplace for wealthy Illinois retirees.

The millionaires ALREADY pay more in actual dollars than I do-what do they get for the extra money they contribute that I don't get? NOTHING. We both get the exact same government services but the millionaire pays 10 times more for them.

Porky knows how taxes work and he knows they don't teach how the tax system works in public schools.

But this is why I think it was good that Trumps taxes came out because it shows how raising taxes on the wealthy has no effect, and all rich people know it.

Why don't all these billion/millionaire's that think they should pay more in taxes just go ahead and pay more? There are no laws against it. They just don't want to and probably have everything in trusts where they can own nothing but control everything and know they won't ever have to pay more taxes no matter what they do to the tax system.

JB Pigfluenza’s plan includes a measure to bypass legislation to raise taxes on the working folk, like a levy...gradually. When they run out of rich folk to tax, everyone pays the makeup.

The tax plan won’t pass, they know it Lo-IQ Stratton just about spill’t those beans when JB trotted her out to deliver the bad news. She warned and called it a 20% increase. Scare tactic to get the uninformed to believe they’ll be paying 20¢ (0.2495) of every payroll dollar when it really means 1 percentage point that could probably raise the income tax from 4.95 to 5.95 %. Then they’ll need go go to the IL legislature to get these tax increases as needed. JB wants an automatic tax levy just like CPS gets from your Cook Co tax bill without ever having to ask. Same applies to pension reforms by addendums.

Crying he has to cut government and wants Fed bailout to keep from raising taxes to spend on inefficiency and corruption. JB has his wealth offshore like every other billionaire. It is laughable to hear very wealthy communist-front politicians like governor lard lad proclaim that they want to "make millionaires and billionaires (like themselves) pay their fair share". If they really wanted to pay their "fair share", all they need to do is stop hiring CPAs to prepare their annual tax returns. If they stop using the obscure and special exemptions embedded in the US tax code, they will easily pay that "fair share" they are so eager to pay. They could also throw huge fundraising gala events (you know those rich guys and gals love black-tie affairs) and donate all proceeds to the IL state treasury. The only people that will end up paying more, if this new state income tax law get passed, are those in the middle/upper middle tax bracket. JB Pigfluenza wants a three (3) Tier system.
One tax for millionaires and above
One for middle income
One for lower income - which he may eliminate altogether.

It gives The State (Not the legislature) the sole decision to impose higher taxes at will, and don’t bet on them to never lower taxes as promised or basically do a little Robins Hood...for the kids.

There’s NO definition of what the income stages will be and if they will change (shenanigans alert) as revenue incomes dwindles or folks move out of the State. Middle income can be anywhere from obama era subsidy cutoff of $45,000 and above. Who knows, there could be vast wealths to be shared after the $60,000 range. $2 says any Six figure salary will become the 2nd Tier behind millionaire.
That’s Bullshit.
Get out and Vote - Early - starts Oct 14th.

...and I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention
FU

BTW, Still undecided. Anyone thinking of Voting for Willie Wilson for Senator to oust Turban Durban or the GOP candidate? Willie is good for around 100,000-150,000 votes in the County alone. He might actually give cranky Dick a run like he never seen before.

If I make $100,000.00/year now, I pay $4,950.00 in state income tax (4.95%)

If a millionaire makes $1 Million/year, he pays $49,500.00 in state income tax (4.95%)

The millionaires ALREADY pay more in actual dollars than I do-what do they get for the extra money they contribute that I don't get? NOTHING. We both get the exact same government services but the millionaire pays 10 times more for them.

So lets raise the percentage so they pay even more? Some Fair Tax. Vote NO.
We cannot trust these politicians, ever.

It's a graduated tax. 4.95% for you, 7.95% @ $1M ($79.5k). But you're right no extra benefits. Plus when the IRS limited the SALT (state tax deduction, etc.) deduction it popped the big money dudes in the high taxed states so they have even more incentive to head to Florida or Texas or Wyoming (ahh...peace and quiet AND easily ranked as the most conservative state in the U.S.).

When I met with the lady at the Pension Board last summer, she told me that IL was going to start taxing retiree pensions but she didn't know the exact date it would start. Was anyone else told this by the Pension Board?

vote "yes" for the progressive tax and you vote yes for the "free shit army". Fat Bot and the Midget have got to get this passed or the shit will it the fan. These two cartoon characters have played roulette and gambled that bankrupting the city will force the federal government to bail out the bankrupt Democrat cities. A vote bends the two clowns over the desk and they get reamed by the tax payers. I know that is a horrific image for the mind to comprehend; however seeing fat boy or the midget bent over a desk could be a money making proposition. hmmmmm......, you could probably fill soldier's field to see that event.

Sounds as if Pritzker re-defined 'fair'. Used to mean 'equal & impartial. Now it is tax the so-called rich. Close friend of mine makes a lot, never broke any laws to get it, however they went to school a long time, took on a lot of debt, didn't do drugs or have a baby too young. Are we supposed to hate those people now? They are the ones who set our broken bones & are busy trying to figure out treatments for the corona! What value does Pritzer bring?

Every state that has this tax, the middle class taxes eventually went up the most. Pritzker payed $54 million for ads to vote yes for the fair tax. Why would he do that? Why would he want to pay more taxes when he did everything possible to not pay taxes including removing 28 toilets from his house. Don’t be stupid. Vote NO

millionaires and billionaires dont work for income. they have investments that are taxed at like 15% if and when sold at a profit. the entire tax structure is written by corporations lobbying the congress. every day you read about some new program or building being built where the developer gets tax credits or offsets like the billion dollar lincoln yards. their entire financial life is structured around tax avoidance, they can choose when to sell at a gain or loss, carryover losses for years and pay capital gains instead of income tax. we dont have any of that,we get paid on friday and the govt gets theirs first. nothing new here except for the incredibly stupid voters of illinois. between professionaly managing their money and living anywhere they want this tax wont effect any rich people just the already overly taxed working slobs in illinois. whats with all the hate for successful people anyway ? class warfare like every kommie country. we used to look up to thevfords and edisons that built murika. now they are all the evil rich. and racists. vote no !

Sad thing is, this will get voted in and that will open the state constitution for ratification. They’re doing a better job at marketing this than not. Chicago residents are ignorant, as a whole, to see past the truth. All they have to say is “Trump supports a flat tax”. BTW, once the state constitution is open for ratification, what do you think will also be ratified? Something about pensions being not being.....? Spread the word.

Why would anyone trust the most corrupt state in the Union with more tax money????? They can't handle the funds they have now. Which is why they are so broke. I live within my means and pay my taxes, don't live off the government and have planned for my future. All you need to do is read the proposed tax "scale" to know after the first 10k of income it goes up and up for EVERYONE. This opens the door for them to raise taxes over and over. VOTE NO!!!!!

Mr. Clean Says:

Don't fall for this B.S. It's a Trojan Horse to get their filthy Mitts into the Municipal, State, and other Pensions, so they can cut retiree Pensions, and gain control of the funds themselves, so they can re-appropriate (aka STEAL) the funds for themselves. Do Not fall for this Scam. It is highly dangerous and gives the thieving Democrats even more power over Middle Class Taxpayers, and if it goes thru and upper class Taxpayers, (Business and Company Owners) have to pay more in taxes, guess who they are gonna pass the cost down to ? The Middle Class Consumers and taxpayers. ANY Tax increase on ANYONE only benefits the Politicians, not the Taxpayers, at all. Just another scam made to sound good to the Simple-Minded.

NEVER Trust an Illinois Politician who says more Taxes on Anyone will benefit you. It's a Lie.

I think what angers me is that when you look at this tax thing logically, you know that it is no longer a necessity for white collar people to come into the office everyday (COVID has made that abundantly clear), you know that the wealthy own properties in no income tax states like Florida, and you can easily see how this is going to play out.

The critical thinking brain realizes this for the farce that it is, and the frustration with the population that doesn't understand this drives me to drink at times. And sometimes it just makes me cry.

The hubs and I were going to try to make it to my 60th birthday before we headed back home to Tennessee. But, my logical brain knows that there is really nothing here for us, and frankly, I'm happy to give up my career, and head back to be with my family.

I'll work at friggin' Hobby Lobby if I have to. Or Waffle House. I really don't care what I do, as long as I'm not here. Life is too short to be stuck in Illinois, and the window to get out is closing quickly.
