Nearly two decades after he absconded on the eve of trial, former Chicago police Sgt. Eddie Hicks was sentenced Thursday to 13 years in federal prison for running a rogue crew of cops who robbed drug dealers and stash houses, and resold stolen narcotics on the street.
[...] Before the judge imposed the sentence, Hicks, 71, decried the fact that prosecutors were asking for 20 years behind bars, saying he was an otherwise law-abiding citizen and “not an individual who is out there looking for any kind of crime at this point.”
He added, “For anyone to even suggest that I would be able to make a 20-year sentence ... is a little bit beyond the realm of reality.”
You probably should have thought of that before heading out to evade trial and sentencing. You would have been out at this point and welcome to live out your remaining days as a disgraced felon. Now they can carry you out feet first.

But he was just doing what ALL the City politicians have always done ... Screw someone else while filling their pockets.
With his mentality, he should have just ran for Alderman. He would have fit right in with them. Rather than screwing drug dealers, he could have screwed taxpayers.

He was a good guy at one time. He took a very wrong turn or many wrong turns. He disgraced us. Had he stuck around he would already be out by now. Instead, now he essentially got a life sentence, however, it is well deserved.
Silly felon. No one cares if you make it to the end of your sentence. That's not the goal. Die in prison. Do you think people serving multiple life sentences are expected to live several lives?

When all this came out, none of us could believe it. We thought he got dumped from Narcotics because the Commander wanted to put his guy into the license premise team. Little did we know.
I worked in 002 and knew all involved. They deserved all of the time they got. If Hicks did his time he would have been out by now. It's a one way trip for him.

He should've gotten 50 years. Transferred all his assets to his family so the state couldn't take it. Then he flee's the country for many years to avoid prison. He is a disgrace and piece of shit. Hope he rots in hell.

His son covered for his father was in contact with him the whole time never reported his whereabouts and should be fired immediately I'm getting a CR on him!
