Some of the Minneapolis City Council members who pledged to abolish the city’s law enforcement — including the City Council president — now say they regret making that promise.
The Times headline blares that the “pledge to dismantle the police department has collapsed,” and notes that “a majority of City Council members promised to ‘end policing as we know it'” after George Floyd died while in the custody of the Minneapolis police department. Instead, though “they became a case study in how idealistic calls for structural change can falter.”
Then the left goes and raises your taxes.

If one eliminates Hennepin County (Minneapolis) and Ramsey County (St. Paul), Minnesota is a normal state.

Biden said months ago when defunding first came up that he was against defunding the police.
Recently retired LEO here was n the Twin Cities. Was MPD for 7 years and have many friends there (most have recently bailed). They have lost 150 cops out of a force of 850 since May, Another 100+ will be leaving after open enrollment for healthcare is completed in late October. They are all taking a PTSD retirement which gives them a pension AND the city has to pay family healthcare until they turn 65. SCC is completely right to point out the hypocrisy of the city council. Buried in the budget is the allocation for 3 police academies in 2021!!!! Each academy is 4 months long which means they will be back-to-back-to-back, the entire year will bean academy. They usually do 1 per year. Not only are they regretting their “defund the police “ rhetoric, they are getting slapped with the proverbial hard dick to the face as they are confronted with the realties of the real world in record numbers of rapes, robbery and murders. People are fleeing and BTW, don’t come here for guns or ammo, the shelves are completely bare, haha.
The leftists have convinced the ignorant sheep that if they call the police the thug might be killed by them so it is better to just keep silent and endure.

The elected somehow think a “social worker” is going to be available to come to every domestic, general disturbance or altered state call. It all talk and no action. The city claims they haven’t the money for police departments, personnel or equipment unless they get it by Fed Grant. Dems wrote in to funding that these grants go to sanctuaries CAPS operations. They’ll play with the budget particulars to keep wage and benefits for the LEO’s to a minimum to achieve their goal of creative defunding.

Here's an IDEA....How about we give the Aldercreatures a gun and a vest; they can only respond to Violent Crime calls of men with guns or knives. Once on seen they are the primary officer who approaches the suspects and solely makes the decision on how to proceed.....Can't wait to see how many of them end of shot and stabbed or better yet, pull the trigger cuz they were scared. Let's see how long it takes them to change their anti law enforcement views then.

Question to Ponder: Given that any Modern Society requires Policing for purposes of Criminal Law Enforcement ( catching bad guys) as well as for Public Safety ( traffic, search and rescue, etc.) WHAT is the proper and efficient Allocation of Resources ( manpower and money) between and among State and County and Municipal Agencies? In other words, HOW should the Pie be split up?
Maybe the answer is NO municipal police, and consolidate everything at County?

What happened in Minneapolis after the George Floyd protests is that crime soared all over the city, similar to Chicago, and the residents are demanding more police, so the council persons would look foolish to go ahead with defunding. Try listening to the cops who are professionals instead of BLM-Antifa idiots.
