Too Crooked?
Former Chicago Police Supt. Terry Hillard announced Monday that he stepped down from a company vying for five cannabis dispensary licenses.
Hillard was listed as a registered manager of EHR Holdings, one of the 21 groups that earned perfect scores on its applications for the next 75 pot shop licenses. Hillard’s departure comes less than a month after his partner, Hamd Kamal, was identified by the Sun-Times as an employee of KPMG, the global accounting firm given a $4.2 million no-bid contract to grade the applications.
“After careful consideration, I have withdrawn association with EHR Holdings LLC,” Hillard said in a statement. “From the beginning, I have supported the importance of bringing social equity to communities deserving of a chance for economic growth and expansion and continue to hold the process in high regard.”
While Hillard’s abrupt and unexplained exit follows the revelation about Kamal’s work as a risk consultant for KPMG, a spokesman for the former top cop wouldn’t say whether that affected his decision to step aside.
On Monday, KPMG spokesman Russ Grote insisted the blind scoring of applications was objective and noted that Kamal wasn’t involved in the process. However, Grote wouldn’t comment when asked whether Kamal was still employed by the firm.

The story is everybody who has had or has political power is corrupt in this city, county, and state. Shame on these people. The next progression with be involvement in the prostitution industry when the Democrats legalize it. And don’t think they aren't looking at it. I remember reading an article about Soviet Russia when the Communist ideology said all jobs were equal so everyone would be paid the same regardless of your education or training. So physicians were paid the same as a bus driver or office worker. Then prostitution was starting to flourish and the hoes were being paid more because of supply & demand (an old capitalist idea!). So the article was pointing out that female physicians were turning to prostitution because it paid more and why should they put up with the pay of a bus driver and starve after putting in all those years of schooling.

Gotta ask yourself..... why do they have to pay someone to grade the applications to the tune of 4.2 Million dollars. Not to be too cynical but Chicago has a history of pay to play. So the question might seem to a jaded person.... hypothetically do you have to pay off the grader.... a crooked politician... or both to hedge the bet..... Not suggesting doing that just curious exactly how this opaque process works....
Maybe alderman burke could shed some light on the matter.... he seems to know how to get stuff done in chicago.
Then in order to have equity for the communities ravaged by drugs (i.e. those where the criminals got caught and punished) .... they are going to open up the legal joints in neighborhoods hurt by drugs.... genius I say .....
Perhaps some of you are old enough to remember when the heroin dealers killed the crack dealers cuz it cut into their profits.... but hey it all worked out.
Asking for a friend should you put a few token people of color on your company letterhead or make them a small shareholder member of the company so that you can have preference in the process..... kinda like the minority owned business set asides and/or preferences....

I talked to a dispensary owner for a few hours, he has a very successful operation in Colorado. He told me that he had been growing illegally since the 1960s and he had a great life. Distribution through the black market was simple and straight forward. He could easily sell double the amount that he was growing. Once he legalized, his life changed. He told me that he now deals with government personnel that are bigger crooks than the people he dealt with in the black market. He told me that legalizing was the biggest mistake of his life, the money he has made was not worth dealing with the government folk that never stop messing with him.
I always chuckled when I hear Hillard’s name brought up about consultant work or being involved in any business. The man was completely incompetent. Don’t believe me or disagree. Go read his deposition from the Ryan Harris murder case. Bumbling idiot. I wouldn’t let him manage a lemonade stand.

If this is the SAME Hillard who is part of Hillard Heintze LLC they were listed as the "preferred" security consultant to review "pot store security procedures"(consultant because it does not show the company carrying ANY license through the Il. DPR.) So when you fill out the pot store application you are told to use this company to have your pot license security packet reviewed by Hillard Heintze. Of course they are getting a huge fee for the review. According to the Il. DPR there are no Illinois P.I. or Security individual or Agency Licenses in Illinois for a company headquartered in Illinois. Now I am NOT saying there is no license I just couldn't find it. So even though the Pot stores are a license to print cash maybe the no license found security consulting firm makes MORE MONEY???????

You were not alone. I really liked Superintendent Rodriguez because he was one of us. But, when he was pushed out the door, I was thrilled to again have one of us be chosen. Hillard being known as a USMC hero and a CPD hero had me respecting him, however, he wasted no time in diminishing my respect to near zero. Then Cline came along and made things even worse with his nonsense. In order, the downward spiral continued with J-FLED, GMAC, specialEd and now continues with Brownie Fife. Demoralizing only begins to describe it.
