You should look into why COPA stripped 2 officers from 011 for a shooting which occurred over 2 years ago. The one officer has recovered over 80 handguns in a 3 month span in 011 this year. But clearly in the most violent district, COPA wants to strip the hardest working cop.
Also, Superintendent Brown responded late to COPA’s allegations outside of 90 days. Now these officers will be put in no pay status and facing separation before police board for a shooting ruled justified by the states attorney, and clearly justified on body-worn camera because they can do whatever the fuck they want with no oversight. Armed with handgun.
Why were these officers allowed to work for 2 years if they were such a “liability”? Fucked up.
As the city was roiled with protests this summer, Chicago police officers committed a host of civil rights violations against many of those who were speaking out against police violence, a new federal lawsuit claims.
“While the plaintiffs were exercising their First Amendment rights to protest anti-Black police violence, Chicago police officers brutally hit them with batons, including strikes to the head, punched them in the face, tackled them to the ground, kneed and kicked them, dragged them through the streets, used chemical agents on them and kettled them,” attorney Vanessa del Valle said during a news conference Thursday.
The 203-page lawsuit was filed Thursday in federal court on behalf of 60 people who claim they were victimized by officers during protests largely sparked by the deaths of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor and the shooting of Jacob Blake.
CPD Supt. David Brown and 20 other officers were named as defendants, though more officers will likely be named as defendants as the suit progresses. Mayor Lori Lightfoot may also be named a defendant, according to the plaintiffs’ attorneys.
You have to go ten paragraphs in to find the eighteen officers sent to the hospital, and the sergeant who lost his eye to these "peaceful" assholes bottling, bricking and shooting fireworks at the police. And they don't mention any of the other fifty or so officers who were treated on scene and not hospitalized.
Makes you want to rush right out and do the City's bidding tomorrow, doesn't it?

The Rialmo shooting, while tragic, was fully justified. But he was and is still fired.

Day 1 of trying to impress the boss to make 2nd watch management next year. Last night was off to a rough start, the old timer I was working with grabbed the keys and he dragged ass getting out to the car. We only got 1 noise disturbance call then parked up. After about 20 minutes of sitting, my legs were starting to bounce, I just wanted to get out there and do some work. I saw so many cars driving by with a headlight/taillight out, people not using a turn signals, so many missed opportunities to get a traffic stop. There were a few suspicious person calls outside our beat that he refused to go to, missed out on potential isr’s. Hopefully tonight is better, I’m working with a younger guy and he seems like a worker.
Give these idiots the police force they want and let it burn. Fuck this city and its policy makers.

What a horrible police department to work for under Lightfoot. Poor police officers are surprise attacked by violent criminals who planed it. Weapons were used against police officers who were hurt in battlefield conditions attempting to protect a piece of concrete that in the end that’s all Lightfoot saw it for and took it down. What’s unfortunate is the officers were following orders to defend the statute. Very sad

Retreated is what the supervisors should have ordered now knowing Lightfoot didn’t give a shit about the statue anyway and had it removed. The police officers were attacked with weapons by scumbag cowards who planned the whole attack. Terrible. It’s truly sad what Lightfoot has done to Chicago’s police officers. 4 years no contract also.

Meanwhile, up in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, an officer that has been involved in 3 justified shootings is facing termination from the department because the city fears he might justifiably shoot another.
There is no such thing as a justified shooting any more. No matter what the circumstances are.
However the officer did get a separation agreement.
Whether he is a cowboy or a loose cannon he still is a police officer and deserves our support. He has learned a valuable lesson and I hope and pray he keeps his job. We were all young and knuckleheads at one time or another. If they are trying to separate him for not having his camera turned on that is some straight up bullshit. We might all want to call lloyds of london and see how much it is to insure a police career if this is all it takes to get fired.
