Must be time to slap around the media tools again and their biased crooked reporting:
- Unlike a Marxist state in which journalists are reduced to obediently parrot the whims of ruling party, journalists in a republic are charged with using the First Amendment to investigate and keep the public well informed.
That, ostensibly, is the function of the media.
In Chicago, however, the collection of editors, reporters, and columnists abandoned this mission of a free press in a republic decades ago. In doing so, the media in Chicago became more a subversive force, attempting to undermine opponents.
No media outlet reflects this transformation more than the Chicago Tribune, and no writer at the paper more than columnist Eric Zorn. Indeed, the thirty-year transformation of the paper from a lone Republican outlet in the city into an agent of an extremist political movement could very well be called the Zornian era of American journalism.
Frankly, we wouldn't give the soy-boy manling the credit of naming a movement for his apologist bullshit.
But it's a good read as usual from the people over at The Contrarian.

In the seventies I was working days and tried to stop a car for traffic violations. The mope wouldn't stop, he zoomed into an alley and ran into a house. He came out so I arrested him and TVB him. In those days they hit the lockup. I didn't even make it out of the station and the D/C calls me in and starts grilling me on what transpired. Then the next thing he says you are going to 11th & State to meet with some Chiefs who want to be briefed.
They explained who this guy was and it was a big heater case with the police and State’s Attorney’s Office. Then they say they want me to speak with a certain reporter who you can trust, and tell him the circumstances of why the mope was stopped and his arrest. The brass wanted this to get in the news. So I spoke to the reporter and told him I will give you the details but I don’t want my name in the paper. He assured me he would not use my name.
Well the next morning my name and District are plastered all over the article. Let’s just say the mope was involved in the underworld and since I only had 2 or 3 years on the job I did what I was told to do but I didn’t want my name attached to that story. Nothing became of it but I never spoke to another reporter even when I worked desks when the news would call and inquire about something occurring in the District.
Just look at how the surveillance technologies and the new MSM Ministry of Truth have stripped away peoples ability to form original thoughts. When I watch facebook and twitter participants blather on and communicate with memes instead of their own words I get a pain in the gut.
This shit is going to get a lot worse now that the educational system has been flushed. Schools were pathetic and just about useless. Now they are nonexistent.
Insightful article by Martin Preib. I can remember when my parents would pick up the Tribune every day. I started reading it when I was in grade school. The Sunday paper must have been a few pounds. The paper radically changed over the years. The only thing we enjoyed in the Trib was John Kass. We went away twice on vacation and put a stop to the delivery. Each time they still delivered it leaving the papers on the porch for prospective burglars to see. We complained twice via the phone to their home delivery service. But they outsourced it to India where the guy who answers says he is Tommy, Billy, Pat, John or whatever! We called the Chicago number thats listed on the second page but they won’t help, they just refer you to home delivery. So much for employment for American workers! So one day they did not deliver the paper, so fed up with the service and how left the paper had become we canceled it. But it still came. So after not paying the bill a few times they referred us to a collection agency which we never answered. Good riddance to the Lib Trib!

Growing up the Chicago Tribune was delivered to my house daily. Current day I can barely bring myself to click on a link on their website. May all the “reporters” over there and most of Chicago media reap what you’ve sewn. There’s no way you could honestly tell yourselves that Chicago is in a better place current day. Once you have accomplished totally destroying this Police Department (you’re 85% there) then what’s next in this Banana Republic? I suppose at least most of you media types are not restricted to a residency policy, so you’ve got that going for yourselves.

The mantra is ‘report as we tell you or you’re fired.’ Everything is a spin-job with excuses made for bad behavior and nothing is called-out or investigated. Years ago, I met the Trib’s educational writer and sometime TV guest commenter Casey Banas. The most memorable impression I have of him was his clothing, it looked like he only had the front half of his suit cleaned. While from the front he was neat, clean and well pressed, from behind he was wrinkled and filthy.

I engaged him in an e mail exchange asking how he thought name calling would address “the divide”, and a couple of e mails in he just replied with more name calling (all without any substantion) of Trump and any of his supporters (me, I guess). Pretty lame for a guy who is supposed to make his living thru persuasive writing and use of the language.

Same thing happened to my elderly mother. You can’t get through to the Chicago number. You end up in the Philippines and they kept saying that they would stop the paper but never communicated that to Chicago. When I got through to someone in Chicago by going through the newsroom they told me that whoever it was I had repeatedly talked to in the Philippines never put that information in their computer system or notified Chicago that we wanted to stop the paper. It took months to finally get the paper to stop. What a scam. They can’t hire people here in the States?
And as for Pulitzer prizes, they don't mean a hill of beans. They hand them out to anyone -- like Mary Schmich, another Tribune allstar, who like our psycho mayor is not from Chicago but Ohio, and also doesn't know north from south or her ass from a hole in the wall. Duh.

I'm 67 years old, and grew up reading the Tribune and Daily News, and the weekly US News and World Report. All were excellent publications. It's no wonder no one reads newspapers anymore... with few exceptions, they are left wing trash.
Once conservative newspapers such as the Dallas Morning News and the San Diego Union-Tribune are now infested by left wing editorials and news stories. It's bad enough the editorials are left wing, but now every "news" story is slanted toward the left wing.
I used to check the news once in a while back when there was the pretense of fair minded impartiality. Now most of it is so twisted and bizarre that it never fails to enrage. These new lightweight tvs just can't take a punch like the old ones.
