Academy Disaster
From one of our many insiders:
- Try being in 124/044 lately- it's a disaster. This all started when Kevin Johnson brought in all his people from 003, 005 and 006. Most of them are garbage and still occupy desks over here, doing as little work as possible, while proclaiming themselves to be the greatest thing since sliced bread.... Then came along Godsel in January/February, who you'd think would've cleaned house, but no... Fast forward to more recent weeks....DC Godsel was threatened some time ago, right around when Barb West dropped her papers- that if training didn't speed up to meet Consent Decree deadlines, he'd be shown the door and made an example of. Hence the reason Procedural Justice, Custodial Escort, Officer Wellness and Use of Force has not stopped. God forbid you'd pay overtime to get more officers trained in the AR carbine program... you know, with all the mass shootings and offenders arming themselves to the teeth.....[..] Not to mention, COVID is exploding in the academy. Most of the kids have been told "don't get tested. The more positive cases, the more likely it will be that we're shut down." Several instructors and even more kids have it.. No coincidence a ton of officers who tested positive recently came from training environments. Everyone uses the same keyboards and mice, urinal flush handles, sink faucets, door handles, mold-infested drinking fountains, railings, etc. Nothing is wiped down or sanitized. There is only so much social distancing you can do in a 40+ year old building the size of a fucking elementary school.In March, when COVID blew up the first time, they shut down all training and sent 124/044 staff to the districts. More people inside the training buildings have it now, but nothing is shut down. The biggest clusterfuck of all? When recruits were sent out, the department offered ZERO online learning for them. So when they returned, they had to pick up where they left off. Nothing like having to remember juvenile law and arrest/search/seizure [...] 6 months after you had it the first time with minimal refreshers.
Every time someone sends us the sheets, we always try to point out the people sent downtown, regardless of cars being unmanned. We'll try to point out the same thing with people sent to training - but if you have 4-to-6 officers downtown and another 2-to-4 at training, you've destroyed any flexibility you might have had to address regularly occurring crime.

Independent truckers planning a nationwide strike beginning on the 26th. Time to stop feeding the cities. If LEOs were to have a blue flu at the same time, we'd be getting somewhere. There is nothing left to lose, Biden and company are going to take it all anyways, might as well fight back now when there's still a chance.

While sitting in custodial escort training last week, the training staff decided that we needed more circulation so they brought in another fan to circulate the already infected air in an over occupied room. Either it was done on purpose or those PO's are not the brightest.
If exposure time is a factor in contacting the Wuhan flu then why couldn't they eliminate the breaks and get the training over asap.
The other problem is what's with the camera and temp check. What does that stop? I've had it and when I had a fever, the last thing I wanted to do was leave the house.
This department is fucked. How many need to get sick before somebody finds the balls to make an educated decision with the help of a doctor. Fuck the consent decree. Put it on hold and just deal with it.
How does a mask work when the air is being pushed and circulated around the room?
Just a question? Who paid for the testing for covid at the stations? I had the first test where they tickle your brain with the swab as its suppose to be. When I took the test at the station the person doing it only swabed the nostrils. I told the person that the swab didn't go far enough in. The person said it went deep enough. So I in inquired fellow coppers that took it and said the same thing. Either the person didn't give a fuck or was told to improperly administer the tests

Just tell the folks of Chicago we have deadlines like everyone else and when we get caught up we’ll get back to them we promise. Until then they are to call the mayor’s office and they will help them with their concerns.
So it is to risky to operate CPS but we can operate our academy and teach. Unbelievable!
Look at the retirement numbers.
No way hiring can keep up.
No concerne from the city.

Who is telling the recruits not to get tested? Fuck them, since when does anyone have the right to tell you what to do medically??? All of you recruits better get tested immediately and if you test positive stay the fuck home for 14 days!! No need to keep passing it around, respect others and yourself.
Forensics has been cramming 25 ET's in a room that is the size of a bathroom at the academy. The roll call room has been locked for years collecting dust protecting a projector...yes a projector! Just the XL tyrant controls who enters it and when. The other day it was used for firearms when yet another gun went off in their tiny office. Thankfully only another desk to the hit.
Which is why our district is putting out signup sheets to work your rdo.
I still love how Johnson brought in his wife's best friend to teach DUI...and she's never made a DUI arrest.

There used to be a very large c-clamp holding together the area near the outdoor atrium on the first floor. When you pass the doorway on the first floor on the west side of the outdoor atrium, look up near wear the second floor is. The damn c-clamp was old and rusty way back then (12yrs or so ago)

Officer wellness might be the the worst class offered by this Dept. Learned/gained nothing except wasting 8 hours. If you truly care about our wellness - how about giving everyone that 8 hour block to stay home - relax spend time w family. That will do our wellness wonders. Wellness day at home.
Why is it that my 80 year old father can figure out how to use zoom but a training section being paid can't?
Godsel should have never went above Lieutenant. He was terrible in 009.
And he hates working more than 7 hours a day.
The academy is ruined. The changes coming to academy are because the good workers are leaving. No one wants to stay other than the dogs.

Where to start...
Johnson brought in his wife's best friend into the academy to teach. This officer shouldn't be teaching how to put on your pants let alone DUI. Many in my recruit class were thankful other instructors who came in to clear things up and fix her disastrous instruction.
The range has an instructor who walks around all day doing nothing, and when we had him for range, we learned nothing, or were taught incorrectly. Thank God the remaining range staff are awesome! Same Officer who refused to pull over for officers about a year or so ago...still at the academy hiding.
One instructor has bounced from LEMART, to use of force, to driving school, and is now back in recruit training. Has no clue, but because this officer is heavy with the former CPD bosses who run the Holocaust Museum in Smokie, they can remain at the academy. They were bold enough to tell us this while instructing class. Maybe an instructor audit is due by the Consent Decree monitors? Many great instructors, but many more poor ones.
What’s even better is there’s a guy there barely 2 years on teaching use of force This kid , nice guy, when he worked in the district was on days early start until his whack, left for area 2 to get her undies torched. He got sent to midnight when relief was needed. All of a sudden he’s in the Academy. This guy was forever hanging out in the station did not know how to handle a job w/out the help of another PO or Sgt & he’s going to teach us use of force?
It's the beginning of the end now. Sell now anything you own in Chicago. No amount of federal dollars will help without police.
Sorry, this is not the reason training is shut down. It's because FOP stepped in and filed multiple safety complaints and law suits.
Look up who the instructors are. Went to custodial escort and the teachers uniforms looked like they were just purchased the day before the class. When I looked up their YOJ, they had 2 years. 2 fucking years on the job!!! They just got off their PPO status 6 months ago and they’re teaching at the academy. Your last partner was an FTO!!! This is why this place is a fucking joke.

it all boils down to the power of the teacher's union and the right to strike, coupled with the vast amount of cash stuffed into pockets of our legislators and alderman. The mayor is afraid of that union
It’s a Pass the buck system. Larri can spend $220,000 to rehab her part-time city hall office in a weekend, install hand sanitizer dispensers every 10 ft, shut down and limit occupancy and even shutter city hall, so ignoring the academy gulag and its woes is part of her scheme.
What’s the worse thing that could happen, a State decertification of the Academy, for lax health and sanitation? Shutting it down, despite going forward with that Larri-Approved $100 mil new building on the wild, inconvenient west side, would save millions in new hires AND fast track pension depletion. Remember, Larri sent $50 million in Covid’s CARES Act funds to select community group program Directors AND that money wasn’t to buy masks or sanitize and clean surfaces.
Don’t expect any pity from the elected. They’re already worried about Larri’s fury and threats to defund their aldermanic discretionary funds if they don’t approve her tax hike dependent budget.
Overload the Med Section and HashBrown will shut have that down too and assign the sickly to internment camps like ARP.
Get sick, file a grievance. Back up your complaints with photos always helps.
Would be nice if fop could pull up in front of the academy with some mobile test unit, if possible. Fuck the asshole bosses at the academy. They are from the same cut as some of those that use to say don’t report that shots were fired at you, it’s to much paper work. Useless pieces of scum.

Chicago is in for a huge SHOCK when the city attempts to attract new young faces to take the job. After what Lightfoot and her socialist defund the police friends have done. Cops are resigning and retiring in mass and there will be no interest in law enforcement, especially Chicago. Then throw in forced residency. Final nail in the coffin. Morale is so low the word has been erased from the dictionary.
It’s ironic that West was asked to leave because of the lack of compliance to the consent decree training due to COVID: She brought a pillow to work and was meritoriously promoted. She conducted an investigation which was a clear violation of first amendment rights and was meritoriously promoted. She demanded contact cards in exchange for days off as a commander and was further bumped up the ladder.
Then she makes a sound decision not to put officers in danger for this senseless training, the closest thing to competent decision she’s made in her entire career, and they ask her to leave. Apparently violating civil liberties, sleeping on the job and gross incompetence are enough to get you promoted to be in charge of the Office of Constitutional Policing and Reforms, but miss a BS consent decree deadline and you are dead to Mayor Poopfoot.

No. The training has to be done by a state certified police training academy and Chicago does not recognize the training from any other academy.
There is no reason why lateral transfers from police trained by other academies in the state could not be allowed other than Chicago has effectively banned it.
I think there is a means by which exceptions can be granted, but they are few and far between.
I'm no doctor but that is probably why so many false positives and the increases in cases.

The reason they stopped sticking the thing so far up your nasal passages is they found is was not necessary to get a valid test.
The reality is that the disease is extremely virulent but most people who get it experience no or very mild symptoms. It should surprise no one that as time goes on we are getting better at ferreting out more cases of covid that were previously missed to to the symptom level being so low.
I suspect that even with the huge increase in positive tests we are missing a lot of people who get infected.

Who is the PO at the academy on 2nd Watch that while “instructing” always touches his gun and gun belt while staring at the back of the ceiling? He taught PJ2 a few weeks ago. Very bizarre.

This instructor is CLUELESS. Let’s not forget the DIO spot and tact spot in 019. She didn’t even know each district has a top ten. I guess 50 CTA checks a year and sleeping around gets you in the academy to train recruits.
I wonder if training goes a full 8hrs (theoretically) on 24DEC can I leave early to attend midnight mass? Surely the dept. can’t deny me my right to practice my faith on a very important day for the catholic community. All this would happen while practicing social distancing of course...
The new fat instructor from 009 tells recruits COVID-19 isn't real and not to get tested no matter what. Not sure who his clout is, but the guy won't shut up about how 009 is the best.

How about the kids that were transferred to be instructors at the Academy from 019 who have between 2 to 4 years on the job? Must be nice to sleep around, drink in the parking lot, and smoke cigars with the LT from 019 so he can feel like he is young again. The academy has been the biggest joke fo a long time. I was an instructor there and couldn’t take the bullshit and went back to the streets. There is no leadership. It is a hiding place for the inept.
First of all, Godsel is the classic case of being promoted beyond his level of competence. Nothing against art majors, but come on...
Second, the department is in a complete panic mode regarding the consent decree. It was totally mishandled by that idiot civilian, Tina Anderson (and...Godsel!), and is now a cluster under another know-nothing civilian. Yes, they’re going to get people sick.
And finally, the Supe is unbelievably clueless about the department and the city. And having someone do your social media doesn’t make you smart, Tex.

She was dumb, by dumb I don’t mean unintelligent, I mean just police-dumb. At 19 months on what can someone possibly bring to the table when the at the CPD infancy stage. How is that possible that command think it is ok.
