This was a one man show to shaft Illinois taxpayers and he personally spent almost $60 million to support it. That means Fatass "donated" around 40,000 TIMES as much as the next highest contributor did.
That $60 million could have gone long way toward paying off Illinois' monstrous debt - almost three-hundredths-of-one-percent....oh....wait....that's not much help at all, demonstrating exactly how deep the shithole that Madigroin and company have dug for residents.

I'm thinking this is a no lose deal for pigster. If the "fair tax" had passed it would probably be a couple of years before the legislature would've had the nerve to lower the tax brackets and start taxing pensions. In the meantime the targeted high income individuals would make financial adjustments such that the new tax scheme wouldn't make a dent in the State's budget deficit. e.g. move their businesses to Indiana, make their vacation home their primary residence, etc, etc...
Now that the measure didn't pass, the legislature can immediately raise the current tax rate which extend to one and all. All in the name of, "don't say we didn't warn you".

The reason this didn’t pass is because the rest of the state bailed us out and voted against it. Only two of the 50 Chicago wards voted against the amendment. The 19th and 41st wards were the only ones that as a whole knew what to do. Look at the “community,” they’re at 75-85% yes.

Aren't the Pritzkers half of Illinois' billionaires? Maybe the rest of the family didn't like this idea so much. All it was is another part of the smoke-&-mirrors that is Illinois' "budget"; taxing different people at different rates, then ginning up a budget based on "projected income," Pritzker could perpetuate Illinois' inevitable financial doom another decade or so.

********i think you forgot about all the hidden taxes we pay (AKA fees) In addition to “property taxes” in Chicago, Cook and Illinois. $150 plates, City sticker, parking permit to park in front of your own stinking house or apartment, red light fees, speed camera fees, entertainment taxes and fees, convenience taxes and fees. Sure they may have a similar structure in other states, but the figures are drastically lower. One city sticker fee I was researching in TX is nonexistent. They have a state vehicle sticker, which was like $35. So go ahead and tax my pension 3.5%, but SLASH costs by not paying 25 cents per word to translate from English to Spanish, Russian and Polish in the schools. Think of where those millions of dollars of translating fees could be spent (or cut from bloated budget) if that nonsense was stopped.
There's no point in trying to explain or analyse the motivations and actions of political CRIMINALS. They are empty shells. The brainwashing is so thorough and has been going on for so long that the ones perpetrating all this actually believe their own propaganda. They aren't simply corrupt. They are insane.

That's a good continuation of that state's decline into being a complete shithole. Portland already had homeless addicts camping on every sidewalk downtown, with garbage, needles, and "human" waste scattered everywhere, even before the whole rioting/looting shit started. ********i think you forgot about all the hidden taxes we pay (AKA fees) In addition to “property taxes” in Chicago, Cook and Illinois. $150 plates, City sticker, parking permit to park in front of your own stinking house or apartment, red light fees, speed camera fees, entertainment taxes and fees, convenience taxes and fees. Sure they may have a similar structure in other states, but the figures are drastically lower. One city sticker fee I was researching in TX is nonexistent. They have a state vehicle sticker, which was like $35. So go ahead and tax my pension 3.5%, but SLASH costs by not paying 25 cents per word to translate from English to Spanish, Russian and Polish in the schools. Think of where those millions of dollars of translating fees could be spent (or cut from bloated budget) if that nonsense was stopped.

Same here friend, but it didn't have to go this way. Mr. Trump's big mouth did him in. Don't get me wrong, I voted for him, but his constant twitter bullshit turned off a lot of people who might have voted for him. Sooner or later, people stop supporting the schoolyard bully. Little more than 1/2 voted for Trump. The other half voted for Biden. Not a lot to be proud of, but I guess it’s better than Biden getting 52%, but not much
