Vacation Carryover?
Seeing as how the Department has denied all sorts of time off, this is actually some forward-thinking (click for larger version):
We haven't heard of furloughs being denied so far - just some extensions. But as we approach the end of the year and lord only knows what's on tap, this is the correct thing to do.

That’s nice of the Alderman now watch Groot come back and say ok they can carry over all their days but
But what Grooty Grooty has no Booty
Use it or lose it days from 2019? I have a few of those. Lol
I assume this is in reference to BFDs and personal days. Most people end up using all their V days. Let's see how the department fucks this up.
Only 20% signed. Give those wards a good days work, the rest not so much.
Fetal policing in the other 40 wards not signing the letter. In fact Fetal policing in all Wards just more Fetal in those wards not signing the letter. Give them what they want, very tired overworked cops. Drive, look point, shake head, laugh and drive on is the order of the day. Very slow detailed parkers only.
Mayor BugEyes was upset that some members of the City Council wanted to help the police.
State did that months ago, glad to see someone noticed, recognizing... hey that's fair, ok!
Shame on the dummies that did not use their time. Figure it out boys and girls. We need alderman writing letters about getting a contract, not about fools that decided to save time.
Nice gesture, that’s all. Has no value or worth to disinterested Larri LightFührer and unenthusiastic dwarf compliant Hashed Browns doesnt get to make that decision.
Days of yore:
A level headed watch commander (a Captain by examination) was always able to accommodate any length of furlough extension. There used to be a rumor that would float around time to time that even Comp Time accumulating was going to be limited to 200 hrs and use it or lose every calendar year. This was a Leroy Martin vision. Nowadays I expect mandating accumulation of comp time and VPBF days a way for Larri’s accountants to default and eventually stiff the blue shirt out of pay and benefits.
My opinion is there isn’t a Vacation Day/Furlough problem. It’s poor management that leads to the staffing problems. That’s where Hashed Browns and his predecessors continue to fail, mostly because of mayoral interference and overall Democrat pandering. Repeated denial and limiting time off will continue because Lyin’Larri controls the hiring and budget to correct this. This doesn’t happen with other city services especially the vast 8-4 inside clerical administrations. Heck, city hall is still closed since a March.
Larri’s permanent chip on her shoulder towards the police in general won’t change, she’s been in the police stifling bidness her entire adult life.
Cool I still have 4 p days and 6 v days left. How about keep them and pay me.
Its ironic they care about our personal days but not pushing for the IL NG to come in, push the city to curb riots/protesting/unlawful terrorist groups, and more importantly supporting the police to stop the violence by taking the gloves off. Nope. Stay fetal.
When I started working for the Department, in 1978, if you had more than 40 hours of Time Due on the books when you went on furlough you lost them. Forever, I wish I could get a check for those hours now.
For confirmation ask a real old timer like me.
Hope to collect more pension checks than paychecks.
Buy allowing the officers to carry over the use-or-lose days the City is being uncharacteristically forward thinking.
If officers lost days because they weren't allowed to use them they would have prevailed in a grievance. So the City would have to pay the officers and the arbitrator.
This is a total B.S. letter written by aldermen who are merely pandering to their police officer constituents.
Brown cannot make this decision unilaterally by himself.
If these aldermen were serious, they would bring it up in City Council, to Susie Park, the media, or to Lori Litefoot herself.
Don't fall for this B.S.
