Winter Mobile
Here's how Brownie plans to respond to downtown crises for the foreseeable future:
- Community Safety Team 90 Day Detail (aka Winter Mobile)
These seem to be set up as overlapping 100-150 officer details - Summer Mobile being the first, Autumn Mobile being the second, and when Summer Mobile disbands, this Winter Mobile will take over.
They seem to be attempting (and succeeding?) in circumventing the Contract by granting all participants their District bidding Rights and protections prior to and after their details - you bid with your Districts this November/December for Watches and Furloughs and you don't lose your day off groups or get furloughs reassigned upon return. Sergeants don't lose their spots (Tact or Watches) if they happen to go via volunteering or reverse seniority.
The big losers seem to be the citizens who are being shorted a number of officers from their Districts for 90 days - and then double that for the overlapping seasonal details. And the watches that are downing multiple beat cars, jeopardizing Officer Safety and increasing response times.

Lookie, lookie here office this job is about me now adays. Fuck everyone else, it's every man for himself for which I've volunteer to this unit with my 20 years on. I'll have a great partner with 15 on, work 9 to 4 and gets me off midnights for the mean time. I dont want to sound like a coward but working 99 on midnights nowadays it's suicide. But then its probably safer being 99 than being partners with a two year wonder that knows it all. How bad can this unit be. I've work the hood my first 15 and semi hood where im at now.
It's about time someone said something about this. I thought I was the only one seeing a pattern and practice of removing people from their assigned districts....
With several districts set to go to this squad policing in Jan - how will they make that happen with no manpower ?
I heard that all these teams do is sign in at McCormick place, go to their assignment, work "4" hrs and this is where they get them.. they make them do "NUMBERS" (like traffic stops, ISR, etc). This is how the City boosts their numbers since the rest of us smart ones don't do shit. I heard that even some people have volunteered due to the fact they only work 4 hrs!!! What a bunch of traitors you are.
Word from Hq first period 2021 tact disbanded except for tier 1 districts. They will also be reduced to a total of 24 total officers. Not a big deal except no one is giving teams a chance to bid to a watch they have rightfully earned. A lot of people will be dumped to mids.

Hey rookies .. I dont care if you shot yourself in the foot with your i want to be cool and grow my beard and wear cargos, scared to work mids while I get seniority to bid to a better watch, ill pickup dog crap as long as I can say I am on a team or unit.. but don't shot my foot too!
Until we stick together and stop policimg those that hate us and believe they are better off without police.. we have no one to blame but ourselves!!
Don't blame the criminal for continuing to be a criminal when all he does is get away with his crimes... NO, blame the ones prosecuting them for not teaching them a lesson and making their criminal actions less beneficial to them.
Stop blaming the politicians for screwing us.. since we keep producing even though they keep screwing us.
Hey New guys .. just wait and see.. us with time are almost out of here and still have what we earned before we started getting screwed..
You guys don't have crap and are going to even have less as they screw you over and over while you still continue to produce.
Now go get those blue cards on what ever beat they are short on!!

“Gets you off midnights with 20 years on” if you are working midnights not by choice with 20 years on then you are doing it wrong.
Anyone who can go to CST really should. The new Lt Willingham here is awesome! I actually will volunteer to give my spot up if you want to come here. Yes, it will be a sacrifice on my part, but I really think all of you should come and work for this guy, he’s the best!!!

I've been on the job for over 15yrs. 13 of those yrs on midnights. I don't have a phone call or "whack," so everything I've received on this job has been on my own steam. I worked the South Side for 2/3rds of my career on top of all that. So I volunteered for a change of pace. Plus, I started hating midnights in my district for putting 4 to 10 cars 99 every night while they had 3 to 4 officers on the desk every night while the door were locked. On top of that, they keep the camera room manned with 2 officers every night. I ABSOLUTELY HATE the watch & district finds this acceptable while PREACHING OFFICER SAFETY. And cops complained but nothing was ever done. Why??? Just so the "desk dolly" who does the sheets can GO HOME AT 0300 HOURS EVERY TOUR while the rest of the watch humped all night riding 99. What would you have done?? I have no boss' ear so I took a flying leap of faith and VOLUNTEERED for the detail. I didn't know what I was getting myself into. I just saw it as an OPPORTUNITY to get away from the DUMP I was at. I just play this game. I play it like everyone else. Do as Romans do in Rome.

Lookie, lookie here office. Its every man for himself if you haven't paid attention. You make the job work for you not you for the job. But yes, I'll work 4 hours for a couple of parkers, TSS but not ISR's. Am I a traitor, well what does that mean really. So suck a fat one loser.
Hi SCC. OT a second but just wanted to go back a few posts and thank the retired copper Timmy C.for being with us. I have been tired with all the work and bullshit but wanted to thank Timmy C. for all his support and prayers. Officer I completely understand your logic. 26 years on and I’m practically invisible through no fault of my own. I’ve had plenty of years that I worked hard but no one noticed. Now I’m in a place because I’ve no pull or clout that I’m not assigned to anything desirable...so I’ve found my own little slice of heaven. Because 85% of the bosses on this job don’t actually know how to run this department, I come in, do what I’m supposed to do, never leave any work, always help when asked (but don’t volunteer) and the rest of the day is mine mentally. Do I feel like I’m making a difference or accomplishing anything. No, but the days of shame are behind me. I’ve watched people who had no shame from the very beginning climb the ranks and absolutely not deserve it. So, find your happy place. After awhile that’s all you can do.

I can’t believe that guys with 15/20 years are on midnights and crying about it.
It’s not that hard to get off midnights by bid, or on management if you’re not a total slug.
If you haven’t managed to make a friend in 20 years on the job, or you aren’t smart enough to either fill out a watch bid sheet or a PAR form- either way it’s your own fault.
If your way of “sticking it to the man” is volunteering for a desperation detail the city is imposing for 90 days, then you are a bigger clown than I thought. Sure, you’ll “get em” for 90 days, then go back to being miserable on midnights. So who really wins.
What, are you gonna do 25, 30, 35 years on midnights and cry the whole time?

Officers assigned to tac go to what ever watch they get assigned to when they are no longer on tac. You do not get to pick your watch simply because your spot is gone. Trust me, I’ve been moved as a P.O.and moved officers as a supervisor.

What is tier 1? Is it like the health insurance? Tier 1 is a preferred provider option that the insurance pays more toward, lowering your deductible? Do you get paid more being in a tier 1 district? Is this in our new contract? More questions than answers???

Did you somehow read the contract when you “moved officers as a supervisor?” I would love to get put on midnights, time and half for my ass, until I’m on days, where I would be if I bid. Hopefully the Commander has your merit ass to bounce bad ideas off of. Bring it on!!!!!
