Who in the Hell was watching the henhouse?
The state of Illinois improperly paid out billions of unemployment tax dollars during the COVID-19 pandemic, with tens of millions going to people who were either dead or in prison, according to a newly released audit.
The Illinois auditor general on Wednesday published a report that showed how the state agency that distributes unemployment benefits issued "overpayments" to the tune of $5.2 billion in fraudulent or excessive claims from fiscal year 2020 to fiscal year 2022. The report is the fullest accounting yet of the large-scale fraud and overpayments that occurred in Illinois during the pandemic.
Of the $5.2 billion, the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES) overpaid by about $2 billion for regular unemployment insurance and by $3.2 billion for federal Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) put in place following the outbreak of COVID.
The trail of responsibility runs up to the governor's office, but you won't see a single bureaucrat take any of the blame.

Define the purpose, the function, the usefullness, of each element in the equation.
Thusly:
The unique, individual identifier information for:
Dead people
Fabricated people
Incarcerated people
These 3 defined types of unique identifiers are more effectively useful to the defined purpose than authentically qualified people.
Whether for ballots cast in elections, or money doled out from various governments, fraud requires means to the end result.
These 3 are the means.
The end results are what we all are experiencing.

So it seems that the medical fraud of C19 led to massive financial fraud. Who could have guessed that this would happen? I'm stunned.
That 5.2 million is only from the state. It doesn't include PPP loans, or any other federally covered funds.
Curious how much it cost the taxpayers while this happened to also do an ISP year+ anti-violence detail with minimal results in Chicago (wonder if we'll hear total price? rumor is 30-50m) Once I heard about this from down south, makes sense why I don't see any Troop on the roadway... whomever is in charge with ISP, help CPD and others I get, but not at the cost of abandoning the rest of the state in the process. Heard from a retiree it also is the reason why ISP suddenly had to rebrand themselves lol?? Hope it's that magic fed money, but I know it's my taxes regardless :(

SES is NOT authorized to hand out suspensions. Your contract (Section 16.2) stipulates what you can be suspended from VSWO for and for how long. SES’s Guidelines is NOT an official department document, it only exists because some asshole supervisor created it some time ago to justify their existence and likely at the direction of the Fifth Floor as an roundabout way to punish coppers. Therefore it is NOT enforceable. This issue will be growing legs in the very near future and we will update here and elsewhere when the time comes.
I was wondering how people were surviving without working. Guess we were the dummies that kept showing up

The value of the quantity of the unit of measurement of currency is defined by what one can trade said quantity of currency for.
The goods and services thusly purchased have intrinsic value.
The currency unit of measurement does not.
To pay more and receive the same = one must be paid more.

The reason so much fraud could occur is because the system was riddled with fraud before covid. Once covid hit the scammers realized this was a once in a lifetime chance to cash in...and they did.
