They made sergeants, lieutenants and captains last night. Congrats to those making it by score.
We always wondered why an interim supernintendo had a chance to make "merit" people, but thinking it through, he'll be gone by the time they graduate and the entire "merit" structure is already in place, so this is "merit" taking care of "merit" in the long run....and the rot grows ever deeper in the Department administration. Plus, mayor BJ gets a chance to take pictures with a graduating class of supervisors and give a speech about "re-imagining policing" and all that.
Beck had the right idea, getting rid of "merit" while he was here. It has truly ruined the Department.

I wouldn’t necessarily congratulate everyone who made it by score. This last Lieutenant exam was full of white merit who miraculously gained Einstein like intelligence. Way to many connected families and nitwits scored extremely high after attending Patty Casey’s study group.

I made sergeant off this list. Thank you for those who gave me the scenarios. I went day 5 and only studied the answers for three out of the five days. This was the easiest test I took ( the second was the detective test 48 multiple guess open book ) Given not earned or was it the other way around. Anyways, go get get me some contact cards. I mean blue cards. Sorry, I mean positive community interactions. Just stay in the box and no lunches

Heard a rumor that Beck traveled to 5th district then stopped by area two and met some merit bosses, Then that week had the statement to get rid of Merit. It isn’t difficult to figure out, but it wouldn’t be CPD then.

Meanwhile, there are currently nearly 50 male white Lts trained as captains. Apparently the Department doesn’t want them. Only minorities and women need apply. Male white Lts who were promoted off the list have no chance. Just look at the first three pages of seniority for the Lt rank.

CK was a lazy connected PO. Worked in 008 for a little bit and was always entitled. He is the son in law of former commander Ruthie Wedster. Ruthie has made sure her little boy has been taken care of his entire career so he could always be home for her daughter... She made Joe Gorman(who was awesome) bring him to gang investigations when he only had 3 years on. Prior to going to gang investigations he worked on 3rd watch in 008 on a beat car blowing off jobs on other people and never making an arrest. Then poof.. gang investigations where he didn’t have a clue. Kid always had a chip on his shoulder and still does.

Any group that took it after day one knew the test questions and knew how and what to answer, making it extremely unfair for the 1st day test takers. The merit system has destroyed any last bit of hope and morale on this department. It’s a slap in the face to people who truly earned a promotion. They will never get rid of this because all the top brass are all merit hacks. How can they stop or advocate to stop a system that has overly promoted all of them?
Speaking of merit who ever thought it was a good idea to push through that moron AW in area 1. Went from detective to commander in less than 5 years. Merit every single time. Almost everyone who's been made exempt that quick have certain "qualifications" that don't mean $hit outside of this sorry a$$ job.

The same study group of Pattie Casey who used department resources and material but still charged us for attending her study group. The same Pattie Casey that retired under investigation and was going to be demoted after she didn’t do her job and left a Sergeant and Detective holding the bag while she sat at home collecting her pension and they both took 6 months suspension each. The same Pattie Casey that had all of her kids join CPD and put them all in spots. The same Pattie Casey that caused Chief Brendan Deenihan to get a sustained CR# after her incompetence. Nothing to see here. Let’s move on.

Which is why the IG and the IMT with the consent decree folks were notified after the first classes were made. Dept emails and cell phones already put on preservation orders. Will be fun to watch when it all unravels.

Retired COMMANDER (I still can't believe I'm saying that) PATTY CASEY was promoted to lieutenant off the 2008 LTs exam.. SHE WAS NUMBER 2 ON THE LIST !!!
She was recovering from an aneurism / brain surgery when she was allowed to take the test at home. Basically she was unconscious at the time. This is NOT a joke.
The test was administered to her by her best friend; Capt. JAN DILLON whos kids and relatives all were promoted to bosses also.

Patty Casey’s study group should be thoroughly investigated by the IG and the Feds. The husband and wife Schnoors’ both in her class scoring the same in the top. Two clouted half brain-dead sisters Falardeau and DeJesus in the class made it. Newly promoted Lt. Nicky Duckfarts that scored over 600 for sergeant was in the class and scored in the top 50 too. A mathematical impossibility.

Tell me how the city will be better off without people like me. I really don’t care. Any sacrifice I made has been worthless in my eyes; family, broken bones, stress from court and lawsuits, etc.

To 10:35 AM: If you think Ruth Wedster made Joe Gorman you’re delusional. Gorman has more hooks to the 19th Ward than you can imagine. From his Grandparents to his parents and his own friendship with the alderman he was way ahead of anything Ruth Wedster could have done for him. She may have been in Gangs when he was brought in there but if so she was only doing what she was told. Plus Gorman as was his father was a better policeman than Ruth Wedster ever dreamed of being.
Real big question is when will the next Sgt and Lt tests be given? They went to nearly 850 and 330 on the last Sgt and Lt tests respectively. Granted those lists were up pretty long but now they want a new sgt test at the end of first quarter 2024 and a Lt test sometime in 2025!?! Despite the fact that the Sgt test held part 1 in 2019/2020, part 2 wasn’t administered until early 2022. That list is only 1.5 years old. The Lt list is also only about 14 months old. I suppose if the Lt test is sometime in the second half of 2025 that’s fine but they are going to make a new Sgt list presumably after 2 years. If you didn’t cheat and are not merit you’re getting cheated out of your chance to make it. Related issue is will the tests be 2 parts or some new hybrid? Bottom line is MOST honest cops who tried their best to study without unethical assistance scored between 200-450 on Sgt and between 80-150 on Lt. Of course there are outliers but by taking lists down too soon you remove a large block of qualified candidates while the hacks and cheaters get made.
It’s there still an education requirement like a bachelors degree for the Lieutenant position? All of these new lieutenants including the merit people have that, right? Does anyone in personnel check?
I know two of those merits in 025 were workers, at least thats what my dad told me. Was LR still an FTO? I remember him from the Academy, he was pretty cool with me and my class - Anonymous 16-??

Same LT Nicky D couldn’t last even two weeks in a district. Originally assigned to 001 he had to call someone so his former Commander made a call and poof. Ranked OVER 600 on a sergeants test but miraculously ranked top 10 on a harder test for LT.

LR was a DCO the last few years. I think he’ll make a good sgt unless he demands activity/numbers. Seems to have a solid grasp of the job. The other has been a Designated driver for quite some time. Wouldn’t be surprised if he gets 050. And for everyone talking bad about my tack sgt who made LT, ND, he was nothing but great to us. He was old skool In still giving us gun days.

Apparently you missed my point, Karen. A generation later and they still do not have a competent grasp on the English language. Could be an indication of why they were never promoted. Merit cost me my promotion! I was under ten two lists ago and someone else who didn’t score well got the promotion I always wanted.
What is pathetic, but typical of this city and department, is that an "actor" in the Supe's job is allowed to make ANY promotions, especially merit and/or command staff. The clout and connections are so obvious here. CPD will never progress forward until merit is eliminated and there is a defined career path to get a gold star.

Her deceased p/o sister was very nice, as was her sergeant sister, but Ruthie's underhanded deeds qualify her to be labeled a piece of excrement. I had a detail with this fucking guy last year or the year before. At the sgts roll call his mouth was agape the whole time, took detailed notes or doodles on white legal pad and looked completely lost. I almost fell out of chair when he saw he made Lt off the list. Now it makes sense.
That Patty Casey group has fucked more shit up in one year than Eugene Williams's group did in the past 8. JA(aka #1) fucking disaster. Bitch literally has been on the medical for 10 of her 12 months as a Lt because she couldn't handle the pressure of working as a WC in 010. Bitch you worked he(for 6 months) as a Sgt. You should have known what you were getting into. Nobody thinks your legit, the resume line is not needed for you, everyone knows you're Ricco's play niece.
