"Re-envision" Polcing
Not only is Chicago a national punchline where violence is concerned, it's a national joke to the people who pay attention to politics:
Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson has pledged to doom his city with reforms that will “re-envision the role of a police officer.”
Oh, boy, are the voters of this once great city about to get what they voted for.
It’s now obvious that the people of Chicago believed former Mayor Lori Lightfoot was too heavy on criminals, even as violent crime exploded over the last few years. Murder is up 19 percent, robbery is up 23 percent, theft is up 45 percent, and car theft is up 235 percent (not a typo).
Overall, serious crime in Chicago is up a whopping 88 percent (not a typo) in just two years.
If you read the entire article, there are links to the "transition report" that outlines "progressive" policy changes whereby unarmed untrained city employees will be sent to non-violent calls.
We can hardly wait for this and will arbitrarily set the over/under for a "non-violent" event going "violent" and resulting in the maiming, shooting or killing of a social worker at seventy-two hours from start date.

I don’t see one single sign that things have a chance of getting better. Like a roller coaster just buckle up and hang on for the ride. All you can do is white knuckle with your grip while holding on and scream! Some will be a little worse off and just cry! City is in for the worse.
Did Brandon “hire” 200 Detectives yet? By my count, since he took office, that number would be zero. The last Detectives class at the end of Lightfoot’s tenure doesn’t count. Just saying
The City tried this non police response before around the late 70s early 80s I don’t remember if it was a pilot program but it didn't last long as it went over like a lead ballon with the troops. They had a group from the City’s Human Resources Department responding to domestics , mentals, sex cases. I remember these people had some kind of mobile telephone that they could call out on. They were sent by 911 to the jobs. POs would go to their jobs and find these know it alls there and try to tell the police on how to do their jobs. For some reason the police did not develop a fondness for these people!!! I was assigned a CSA victim in a hospital ER. Upon arrival one of these goofs was already in the exam room with the victim who then told the victim, you don’t have to talk to the police. Of course I threw her out and told her I would lock her ass up if she interfered with a police investigation. In those days the hierarchy would back you up and that program fizzled out because the police did not want it. What was old and didn’t work will be reintroduced and praised. Of course today it is much harder to be the police. These Communists who have taken taken over the Democrat Party have no intention to stop the crime and violence. Look at all the major Democrat controled cities, they are all distasters. Brandon Johnson, the son of preachers knows how to dazzle and mesmerize the people with how he is going to the root of what’s causing crime and is going to re-envision the police. Actually he is a bullshit artist with no skills in running a city. He is going to transform the police department into a social service agency. Please be careful out there.

I “re-envisioned” the last several years I was OTJ. Did absolutely NOTHING. Not a lick of proactive work. Everyone got paper in order to keep the “reported crime” numbers where they shoulda been. And nothing that would’ve generated a penny of revenue for that shithole city.
Came in late at least 3 times a week. Took every early duck offered and padded every OT slip I could manage. Spent at least 2 hours a tour running my side business - company time is the best time to get personal errands and business accomplished.
Hit the medical when I had so much as a sniffle and “caught” the “China Virus” 8 times for another +/- 4 months off. You’d be surprised how easy it was to obtain a “positive” at home test to upload to the Medical Section ;-)
So I extend a hearty “FUCK YOU” to mayors Mumbles, Tiny Dancer and Groot. I won.
He is advocating the model of the failed JISC. Instead of making the arrest, offer (not mandate) “wrap around services” (counseling, drug treatment, debit cards, etc.) that will ensure the offender never has to commit a crime ever again.

Officers, if you don't play the game the game is playing you. I've retire and have the outpost respect for the field officers but many are just going with the flow for TSS cards. A previous article on SCC talked about a lawsuit where several people were pulled over a ridiculous amount of time within a time frame. Well, guess what since I retired three years ago I've been pulled over 12 times within an 8 months period and not once did I get a ticket and no I'm not driving like an A-hole Im just driving over the white line at an intersection. One particular officer has stopped me 4 times in 5 months but each time I've been driving my kids cars and he doesn't recognizes me. Of course I don't say I'm retire cause I want to see how I'm treated. This is in the 8th Dist and I looked up the officer and barely has 2 years on but I assume the perk for him is being in days so to stay on days TSS cards does it for him. This is a kid that is being played by the system and if I get stopped once more by him he will be played by me. Stop pleasing your STUPIDVISORS officers don't be stupid.

The send the civilian social worker experiment never works. Before the JISC was closed by Larry Lightfoot there was a social agency there. They had an attorney and counselor in the building. When they started they knew everything and that the Police were a bunch of thugs and they were gonna save the "Children" from us. After a couple of months of being attacked, spit at, computers thrown at them, getting mfed constantly (sometimes by the parents) they actually calmed down and saw what we saw. This didn't fit the narrative of the people in charge at the agency and they actually caused one to quit for anotherjob. They then pushed Larry to close the JISC because it didn't fit the narrative of the evil police. It's gonna be worse once Brandon Blow$ob.
To lower crime. Enforce the law. Arrest bad people. Send them to jail. I’m not even a rocket scientist.
They did this 4 years ago. Sent out civillians in a police van with a PO. Civillians all quit. Program lasted a total of 2 hours.

More paperwork is good news? Let me guess, less than 3 years on?
Obviously if you want crime to go down one must re-envision the police force reducing their numbers so there will be less people to take crime reports.

The report shows that there were 394 murders in 2022, an increase of 16.6 percent over 2021. This is
the highest number of murders recorded since WASPC began collecting this data in 1980. Homicides
have increased 96 percent since 2019. Crimes against persons, property and society all increased in
2022, and violent crimes showed an increase of 8.9 percent.
The total number of commissioned officers statewide was 10,666, down from 10,736 in 2021, while the
total population of the state increased by 93,262. Washington again is ranked 51st out of the 50 states
and District of Columbia for the number of officers per thousand residents. Reported cases of officers
assaulted was 2,375 in 2022, an increase of 20.7 percent.

A few other progressive cities have tried deploying social workers to calls instead of police. The programs quietly folded after a few were assaulted and I believe 1 or 2 were killed.
Hiring those workers will be a tough sell. No Monday through Friday 9-5 office job. Out in the boonies, perhaps hostile territory. Mid nights, weekends and holidays. And potentially a dangerous situation.
Things are going to get much, much worse. But, maybe it has to if we're to get rid of Mayor BDU (Big, Dumb and Ugly). I do watch with some satisfaction that much of the violence is centered in BDU-supporting areas like Logan Square, Wicker Park, Bucktown, etc.
if I get stopped once more by him he will be played by me.

Hey, maybe this is the long awaited "jobs program" we've all been hearing about. As these social workers and untrained city employees are picked off one by one, there will be a need for a bottomless pool of applicants to fill the recently vacated spots. Brilliant!
