Officer Injured
From a few days ago, stabbed multiple times:
- Prosecutors have accused a woman of stabbing an off-duty Chicago
police officer 13 times during a fight between patrons leaving a
late-night bar on the Far North Side.
Stephanie Campbell-Ward, 34, was held in lieu of a $30,000 bail deposit by Judge Ankur Srivastava during a bond hearing on Sunday afternoon.
“Frankly, if I had the ability to do so, I would hold you without bail,” Srivastava advised Campbell-Ward.
Why can't the judge hold her without bail? Oh wait....right....Cook County, Illinois. We forgot.
Best wishes for a quick recovery.

This is an unsustainable model. We all need to become vicious criminals to save our state. Our new motto should be " let's make crime and killings so bad, defense attorneys want to become prosecutors"
Bottom line.. Stay out if these Chicago sewer-like gin mills.
There you have it, no consequence for their actions. Criminal do what they want. Wake up people!! Get on the States attorney’s asses. Hold them accountable.
If you’re on the job and you’re out having drinks anywhere past 21:00 you are rolling the dice. I don’t care where you’re at or which neighborhood you’re in.
Something about being out late in a bar breaking up a fight. Weird.
Speedy recovery & prayers for the officer.
So much for self defense training.
So the no cash bail applies to attempted murder? Would think that 13 times qualifies as attempted murder. What did they charger with.
What happened to the north side. Used to be kind of nice and safe. Mom was right when she said nothing good happens on street after midnight. Especially staggering out of bar at closing time. Thought you all had to carry off duty. Et there is a lot more to this story.
This is why I stay away from icky girls with hyphenated names.
Now, kees me you fool!!!!
I am curious to the response or were there no cars up. The fight look like it was going on for a while and escalated to stabbing.
I wish the Officer a full recovery. Let these uncivilized humans spend their lives in prison. This looks messed up! The Officer is lucky to be alive. The stabbing offender also took his wallet, back stabbing “B”.
Outstanding work by the assigned detectives picking up the pieces from the assigned officers who let 2 of the offenders go, after they were identified as being offenders.
There is a difference between can't and won't.
Sometimes these lowlifes work their way out here to DuPage County. Then they find out what a real criminal justice system looks like. Last week a convicted felon on probation from a Cook County gun charge got caught with a gun in Naperville. The judge held him on $1 Million bail. That's how you do it.
There’s a reason for Cop bars.
Western & Howard is real close to the ghetto antics not too far away. 4:00am in a local bar isn't a good idea, never was and still isn't.
PO will never see that girl again. She’ll leave him for a merit sergeant
This is why you always bring a gun to a knife fight.
With age comes wisdom… usually. Best wishes to the Officer.
Why was the bail so low?
Not a cop--just a supporter
Put this one on the prosecutor's office (for not charging att. murder) and the legislature (only 1 offense re PO's--disarming a PO 5/12-31-1a, is non-probationable). Offender was charged with 2 counts of Class 3 Agg Batt on 07/09, a probationable offense and therefore not eligible for a petition for denial of bail under 725 ILCS 5/110-6.1. Only the state may file this petition per the statute and the IL appellate court. Sucks but true. The judge could have set a higher bond though.
Not a shocker, but the great sages of Springfield made 'Threatening a Public Official' (i.e. themselves) a "detainable offense" under the may or may not be constitutional Pretrial Fairness Act, but did not make agg batt of a peace officer 5/12-3.05(a)(3) or (d)(4) a "detainable offense."

Unfortunately, DuPage is starting to lean away from strict prosecutions as they did before. They're willing to plea down or outright deny felonies that were previously easily granted. Some judges are okay and bring down the hammer, but some seem to have left crook county for greener pastures and brought their ideals with them.
WTf does the Judge Mean , " If I had the ability"!!!?
"...what happened to the north side..."
The Great Unwashed Democrat Welfare Voters figured out that men like me are easy victims.
Now, kees me you fool!!!!
