The Scandal That Isn't?
As pointed out by the FOP, under the so-called SAFETY Act, there are no sworn affidavits for CR/Log numbers any more. COPA and IAD have to take every single allegation that comes in and open an investigation, regardless of origin. That could possibly lead to abuses and a torrent of unfounded, impossible and unbelievable allegations.
We're told that numbers are through the roof and the backlog is well into the thousands, which as we all know means half-assed investigations and massive delays.
We are also getting emails that the origin for this supposed scandal is a vengeful ex with an extensive history of unfounded CR's. There is no pregnant minor, the pregnant females are months along with their future anchor babies, and there are no stripped cops...which is a giant tell on it's own. If there were the merest whiff of reality, there would be a few new seats at callback.
But the media, the mayor, the governor and the national press is running with the ball because THE NARRATIVE needs fresh blood and scandal to distract from the economy, the climbing inflation numbers, the faltering COVID narrative, the Ukraine war, the border disaster and the non-stop mess in Washington.
One has to wonder why the "media" here in town isn't spending even a little bit of time on the 400+ allegations of sexual misconduct in the Chicago Public Schools. Those allegations are documented far better than a single unsigned affidavit involving the CPD. Names, dates, schools, even some teachers. It would be the simplest of articles to write or do hit pieces for the I-Team or similar "journalists."
Or how about this? It involves migrants, too! On city property! Here's the difficult investigative work for any aspiring "media" people who want it:
- the two-six street gang is running a migrant prostitution ring in the Little Village neighborhood. When the sun goes down, exploitable women and underaged girls are being trafficked out the back doors of Piotrowski Park at 4247 W. 31st Street.
There you go. Who, what, where, when...and we didn't even go to J-school.

I worked in 010 years ago. I also worked at the cook county department of corrections.I knew this was B.S. Gonna have another coors down here at the trailer park before my furlough ends. Cheers.

I wouldn't trust any public school teacher ever. It's old now, but the last Dept of Education report on sexual abuse in schools is horrific. Report from 2004. Stats say 1 in 10 kids are abused during their years in school (near 50/50 split between males and females). Looking at liberals these days, I'd bet anything that number is FAR worse now. And given how few headlines we see about it, they're getting away with this crap...
exactly ...cps and ctu are sitting on hundreds if not thousands of sex abuse cases ... in addition to the ones they know about both cps and ctu refuse to do any follow-up investigations for more victims of the perpetrators .. this is probably worse than the church scandal ... cps would let you quit and move on to another district simple as that ... in one case Eric Skalinder former Kelly HS music teacher quit and went to Glenbrook HS ... the victims mother a teacher at Kelly HS who he was dating to get to the student at Kelly HS went ballistic when she found he was still on payroll as a teacher mentor at the ctu ... he worked 12 years at Kelly and ran an S&M sex club out of his house for 14 years even admitted to dating former students in the cps investigation and bringing them to the house ... no further students were interviewed or teachers because cps did not want to cause disruption to the school … got another one where a kid had sex with a teacher even got her tattoos he was fired and walked away ...

I will always praise and be appreciative of former Superintendent Jodi Weiss for getting us the CR affidavit and complaint verification process and getting rid (albeit temporarily) of anonymous (BS) complaints.
Well at least it got them out of the station lobby. Perception and reality problem though. How many community members read this blog. Still a problem for CPD.
At least this got them to move the illegals out of 010.
The FOP needs to come out and make a comment, (what bullshit this so called scandal is) since we know that City officials or COPA will not on this matter. Has there been any progress by the city to pay the owed VRI overtime money to PO’s who worked it, per the Federal court case brought and won by a couple CPD PO’s about 2-3 years ago? How long does it take to figure out how much is owed? I think the initial numbers were somewhere in the 40 million plus dollar range.

In the news reports it was the mayor's office that "confirmed" that part of the investigation was about minors being involved. This is the way it's going to be under BJ.

This city has to redo everyone's timecard by hand, the damages are in the 200 million range, and supervisors are included now too. You can look up the stalling tactics being used by the city with your PACER account.

Officer who’s reputation is now ruined should use this to their advantage. You might just receive a generous down payment on a house from the city if you play your cards right. He had nothing to do with, it was the state legislature, and Daley fought the affidavit as an unfair labor practice. The unions then had negotiate over getting this and lose somthing else.
