Chicago Contrarian
Back in the day when we had less complications, we lamented the fact that we were unable to devote as much time as we wanted to really dive into issues. We were able to do it occasionally (like we did yesterday with the Slum Times editorial) and make some lengthy (but mostly) logical, reasoned arguments about regarding poorly written media pieces.
It should be obvious to any thinking man or woman that much of the "educated" media types never spent any time in a 101 level class on logic, reasoned argument, writing or even part of a semester in a reputable J-school. Rather, they are brainwashed and indoctrinated into a set way of what they call "thinking" and loosed upon an ignorant public to reinforce THE NARRATIVE.
Thirty months ago, we recommended a number of sites to read on a daily or near daily basis. One of them actually encouraged us to write some of the lengthy pieces we just spoke about. We tried to fit it into our schedule for a little while before events overtook our lives and we had to curtail outside interests, but the articles are still there at The Chicago Contrarian.
Their website is still there, too, trucking along, peeking behind the political curtains, exposing bits of malfeasance and delving deep into the data generated by assorted government organizations.A favorite target of theirs is the "Consent Decree" and all the garbage that goes with it. Writer James Bosco does a particularly pointed take-down of the media and drills down into the data in a manner easy to read and to understand:
- Back in June, the independent monitor appointed to oversee implementation of the multi-year consent decree for the Chicago Police Department (CPD), Maggie Hickey, released her "Consultant Report" which makes several hyperbolic claims over CPD stops. Chicago's politicians wasted no time endlessly and breathlessly repeating those claims over and over and with the cooperation of an obliging media. Thus far, it does not appear that anyone has bothered to look into the veracity of the allegations. Such is the sorry state of establishment media in this town.
Go give it all a read. And if you can, post the link on social media and in emails to friends. Sites like that need the clicks to continue what they do. Page through the archives - you'll be far more educated than the average "reporter" in a matter of minutes.

Pravda ain’t got shit on the Mockingbird Propagandists!
Well said!
Took your advice, great site...
I think you should start calling it Scum Times instead of Slum Times. That name fits that piece of shit rag better.
The problem with the Contrarian , and Marty, is MOST, of the articles, are long winded. Yes, he brings up good points. But 30 paragraphs could be widdled down a little bit. Every single article is way too long. And this is discussed by many of us that try to read his stuff, this isn’t a single opinion.
The consent decree, like most other things in life: Follow...The...Money!!!
Will do. I follow CC. Good website.
Thanks for the truth SCC.
A good reporter is more than just bringing attention to important subjects. But a good reporter knows how to get to the point without adding paragraphs of fluff.
This is great!

I am ecstatic at your return. I've missed this blog since it went away. Thanks for returning.

You are 100% correct!
Never ask Marty what time is it.
First, he'll explain what time "is" in its many dimensions.
Then he will explain how an atomic clock works.
Finally, you will die of old age not knowing the correct time.
I took your recommendation after you shutdown. I was looking for someone with the real news.
The Contrarian is always letting CPS have it and rightfully so. Here's an article entitled "Chicago Public School Goes From Low to No Standards" that reports how Steinmetz College Prep isn't allowing scores of less than 50%, it's called "Equity Grading." Along with the grade giveaway, their current principal and CPS aren't allowing their teachers to factor in absences and tardies into grades. The honor students know this at Steinmetz and many have 50+ absences and show up to class when they want and are getting passing grades.

Widdled?
May he RIP. Jon Burge should be granted Sainthood. This man was responsible for putting away some of the most savage and evil human beings to walk this Earth. To think, our own Department and city is indoctrinating police and civilians with the lie that this man single handily, tortured and forced his subordinates to torture countless murders into confessions is as big of a lie as the COVID pandemic. He walked around police stations with a car battery and cables and coerced confessions? Media, Politicians and even private instructors in CPD training courses will tell you he was found guilty by the Federal Government for such crimes. Guess what? He never was. When the Feds can’t prove a case and trust me they don’t indict cases they can’t prove, they hit you with the coverall perjury charge. He was convicted of perjury, not torture. And let’s face it. The Feds are the long arm of the law for politicians. If the powers that be want someone to go down, the Feds are their bitch police. You tell a Fed you ate 4 French Fries but actually ate 5 French Fries, bam perjury. We are currently witnessing the Feds investigating at the behest of numerous politicians. I knew Dics who are no longer with us and know some that are, that knew this man, some worked with him and for him and they will tell you that Jon Burge was one of the greatest men and bosses they’ve ever known. I have read Marty’s books and follow the Contrarian and read his posts when he was VP. Yes, he is long winded and detailed. But I absolutely appreciate that. I believe he is trying to educate cops and people about years of malfeasance and lies. God bless him. He is dedicated and articulate, something that is hard to find among the current Police. And if anyone really wants to know what’s really going on, they should look at this fucked up puzzle Marty is assembling.

I take it you’ve never read the Hobbit or the Lord of the Rings Trilogy?
It’s the detailed specifics that paint the picture for the reader. Try not to be so hasty, absorb.

Absolutely true. He was also an excellent law enforcement officer throughout his career. The public has no idea of his dedication to getting justice for victims, while operating within the rules to accomplish it. He was persecuted in life and, in death, his reputation continues to be unfairly maligned. But where it truly matters, he is missed and still admired by the people who knew him and despised by those who did harm to decent, innocent people. His was a life well-lived.

Love CC
I’ve met the editor of CC on a few occasions through my work. He is a very good writer, and brilliant in many respects. but let’s just say his internet persona might not approve of his real-life "choice of lifestyle."
