Beat 631 acknowledges the order but adds, "so don't go to a 10-1, got it" Beat 600 then orders the car to come off the street to see him in the station
And just who is Beat 600? Michael Tate, "merit" sergeant, "merit" lieutenant (for seven whole months) and then commander of 006, where he's telling people NOT to respond to a 10-1, Officer Needs Assistance NOW! And it sounds like he's going to bully or create a hostile work environment for Beat 631 in the immediate future.
006 is a $hithole. One of many $hitholes in the CPD, but up there in the top five day in and day out. You can be driving, minding your own business, and $hit will literally hit the fan right in front of you. You might need an assist immediately without having sought out $shit to stumble into. Hell, you might be driving along and suddenly see "pfather" Pfleger wearing some sweater he picked up shopping in the suburbs.
But now, in 006, the commander is telling you that he will actively deny you assistance should the $hit get out-of-control. Good luck boys and girls. Get out of 006.

You are correct, 006 is a shit hole.
1. Getting out of it is almost impossible due to the āspan of controlā bullshit. Itās looking good on paper, but not worth a damn in practice. 2. Whoever came up on the radio after 600, was NOT, repeat, was NOT 631!! The male half of 631 has an accent. A not from the slowly decaying USofA accent.
3. But 006 was told they have one of the best for commander. Best of what?-remains to be seen.

I wish I was that officer summoned to the station to be belittled by this commander. This time instead of going Ricky Ricardo like I did several times in the past I would keep it very professional while I keep recording with my HD 4K Spy Pen and eventually sue the MadaFlaka for hostile work environment. This department has always been controlled by politics and politicians , however, it was never as bad as itās been with incompetent bosses since Eddie Johnson decided to promote his fraternity brothers and sorority sisters. After everything calmed down, a Sergeant on the scene went up to the Inspector and gave him hell for not responding to help the Officer. Nobody got written up, but the point was made. (The old days)
In 30 years on the job, I have never heard a commander waive officers off a 10-1 response that just occurred, particularly when the commander isn't on the street but in his cozy office. In the commander's wisdom, the car didn't have time to respond to assist his fellow officer in an emergency but he did have time to leave the street and report to him in his office. Including one very public incident in Harlem's public housing during a shootout, where the Shoe Fly, semi rat squad, ran away from a shootout as other cops called for help. The job's response, oh he was just repositioning his RMP. Oh and he was also promoted. Don't know what can be done about such cowards. Hope your Officer lands on his feet after higher says to leave him/her alone.

No supervisor came on the air to clarify. Were there any officers in danger, I hope not. Not enough information to pass any judgement.

With SOS, my partners and I drove from 007 to 025 one night for a 10-1. We made it in about 15 minutes while listening to gunfire on the Citywide. We didn't make it to the scene, but we were able to block Fullerton and Milwaukee so CFD could attempt to save Donny Marquez's life. You ever see an ambulance doing about 60 MPH to Illinois Masonic? I did and it was one of the scariest things ever.
That's why you roll on a 10-1, regardless of distance. You can still be useful.

He let everyone go home 15 minutes early from Tiered Deploymentā¦and he bought a whole case of White Castles for the desk in 006 one night. They also said he gives free sliders to the refugees as well.

FWIW, as a Detective we still go to 10-1ās. I couldnāt tell you how many times Iāve heard a 10-1 on the zone and immediately threw my vest on and ran out the door. Weāve cleared the entire floor for a 10-1 numerous times. All we have these days is each other and itās paramount we back each other up at all costs.

I was there when this happened. Tate said those computers were only for summer mobile. He gave a direct order to the POs who were doing a report for a 041A and demanded proof that they were working on the report. One of the 006 1st watch SGTs came and stuck up for his boys. I hope that SGT got out before Tate came inā¦ā¦

I had a Commander whoās name I shall not speak, who would let us of every day 45 minutes early and would buy us a round of drinks at the gin-mill. Which was conveniently located close to our station. Check offs there were a regular thing. He would well know food establishments within our District to take care of the Desk, which included the Lock-Up and All the Office staff. With him refugees werenāt allowed near are Station or sacred Gin-Mill. They just messed everything up. People in the are didnāt want them hanging around and they were the usual suspects with low level crime in the area. If anyone would have not gone to a 10-1 he would run them out of the District. If you had a scratch involving and arrestee he would speak to you on why someone would hit lock-up and not the hospital first. A true Police Menās, Police Menās. This guy was the real deal.
I must say Commander Tate is a second rate amateur and a police impersonator at best. Iām not impressed with BS gestures buy a do Goode merit hack police wanna be.

Hubby just told me this same story last night. Pitiful.
Merit is out of control, they hire based on buddies, boot lickers, and pleasers. Our leadership has tanked and patrol/"backbone" is abandoned per usual. Sinking merit ship.
Tate was a do nothing Narcotics hack and spent at least 8 years in the DEA task force where the only time he was seen at work was to drop off his yellow slip. He worked deep deep deep undercover, just ask him.

Until you crash responding to that 10-1 and IOD isnt approved because you didnt put yourself down on that event over the air, ohh and your camera wasnt on so thatās 20 days to start with. More to come.

PUT YOURSELF DOWN quickly while enroute. Even if the dispatch does not acknowledge, you keyed in and thereās a record. Be safe and back each other up.

With SOS, my partners and I drove from 007 to 025 one night for a 10-1. We made it in about 15 minutes while listening to gunfire on the Citywide. We didn't make it to the scene, but we were able to block Fullerton and Milwaukee so CFD could attempt to save Donny Marquez's life. You ever see an ambulance doing about 60 MPH to Illinois Masonic? I did and it was one of the scariest things ever.
That's why you roll on a 10-1, regardless of distance. You can still be useful.
Thank you for going. Don Marquez was my friend. I am grateful that I met him. He was a prince. Those that don't respond to 10-1s don't deserve to wear the uniform. mt is an example of one of the largest problems on the Department, lack of leadership. Use your head and go. It may be you calling for help next time.
Another clueless merit hack, command at 1 time got respect as they deserved it now they deserve 0 respect and it shows as crime rises!

That's not the determining factor for an IOD approval.

I wish I was that officer summoned to the station to be belittled by this commander. This time instead of going Ricky Ricardo like I did several times in the past I would keep it very professional while I keep recording with my HD 4K Spy Pen and eventually sue the MadaFlaka for hostile work environment. Can you secretly record? Yes you can, remember you are in a public building just like you would in a library, park district field house etc.. I've always known this but my pride got in the way and let them have it. The video would be sufficient evidence to win my suit and demote the bastards. Now I'm retired, collecting Sgt. Pay, but that a whole other story.

Please say you're kidding and that you aren't really a copper. The only thing you'll win is separation from the Dept. So, I guess if you really want to get fired, use that convoluted thinking of yours. I could only imagine some of the "supervisory" decisions you made on the street. Don't give these young kids any advise from your vast library of legal knowledge.

Tate, a one bagger maximum bought a jab and thought he was a real undercover. Made merit Sgt and LT and was never the real police. Kissing ass and being connected gets you promoted I guess.
