Seattle Councilwoman Lisa Herbold (D) recently announced they are hiring to have six people to be an alternative response to some 9-1-1 calls as the city is grappling with an undermanned police force, a problem the city has faced since the BLM riots in 2020.
Herbold explained the people who will be responding to calls will be unarmed and the police department will be aware of the calls and it will be up to them if they will be on the scene as well.
"Well, you know, usually I’m complaining about how delayed we are and how frustrated I am that we’re not meeting our benchmarks for developing this program. But today I’m really, really happy to report that the city is hiring for the six positions for its first pilot alternate response team. It’s going to be a way for 911 operators to dispatch calls to somebody other than police somebody other than fire, a crisis responder who is unarmed," said Herbold.
We don't know their hours, if they work "watches," if they're all out there at once, or only working weekends.
There are only six of them.
We're setting the over/under at an "alternate response team" casualty (wounding, maiming or fatality) at forty-eight hours or two tours of duty. The first twenty-four hours, the hypes in the hood are going to be amazed that this program is actually sending them unarmed victims and the police aren't required to escort them anywhere.

Minneapolis Minnesota has a behavioral response team. It has not made the news much, good or bad. But last time I checked, there were amazingly no deaths or injuries.

Doing a little research it is embarrassing to see how corrupt the merit process is and the damage it does later on. Both Arleiseiu “Nicki” Watson and Melvin Branch were promoted to merit Sgt after both being merit Detectives in 620. This is revealed in SCC post in September 2018. It was also revealed how many spots they moved up after getting their unearned promotion (Watson moved up 1982 and Branch 2069). They had promoted about 750 Sgts prior to this class. So these two scored near 3,000 on the test. Embarrassed right?
Yet they are still given their second merit promotion when they obviously have no job knowledge. Fast forward to 2022 and both bomb or don’t study for Lts test. Again, both are given their third merit promotions to Lt. Watson in the first class and Branch in the third. Now both are Commanders. Can someone please explain how anyone is supposed to respect either one or the merit process??
Branch’s merit sponsor was the current 1st deputy Bradley. Watson is family friends with Carter and was promised her command spot years ago.

So it appears the Seattle Mayor is unhappy with the demographic makeup of the police force so they have taken on the task of recruiting POC, different genders (what on earth could THAT mean?) and police who don’t stand up straight. Desiring people who lack “military bearing” - does that mean People who Slouch?” Does that mean they want Lizzo to be a spokesmodel? Honestly, could the leadership in Seattle get any dumber?
I agree that the six new “non-police” members of the police force who will be sent out on exactly which calls(?) will probably last less than a week before they are shot or start demanding armed escorts. Or will this “kinder, gentler, less military” force only be sent to take complaints from rich people who have been robbed, carjacked, etc.

Our next Superintendent Larry Snelling failed an Integrity test and didn’t inventory the drugs. Also brought people into the station under the ruse of doing a field contact card. Which seems suspicious at the very least. The next head of the Chicago Police Department has serious issues in his background. Chicago can’t afford a corrupt top cop. Chicago deserves better. The Chicago Police Department policy currently ties the hands of officers trying to do the right thing. Now the next Top Cop has integrity issues at the very least. We are in trouble my friends. Funny thing about the brothas and sistas who brag about their frat/sorority affiliation is that most of them did not pledge when they were 18 or 19 year old college students. Most of them joined later in life in their 30s while attending one of CPDs ivy league schools.

There was an AMC message about a month ago requesting officers for a recruitment video or poster, BUT you had to send a picture of yourself to merit sgt yanney and tell them where you grew up. Picture for what? Does it matter where we grew up?
There is no reason for cops to respond to loud music calls all the time. University of IL Police has hired college kids for years to do this type of work. Granted they are not responding to Ray Ray and Sharknisha loud blunt party, but it is a start.

There will also be a VC/gang crime civilian intervention unit assigned to the JISC unit or what's left of it. They are going to be debriefing all juveniles to intervene and prevent Teen violence and teen mobs.

The JISC at 39th and Cal regarding Juveniles is dead my friend. Larry Lightfoot and LCLC made sure of that. LCLC hated that there were youth Detectives who actually followed the Juvenile court act and would send "kids" to court instead of a peace circle. Didn't like that there was a facility with cameras that actually showed the "kids" acting out and banging their heads off the walls or shitting on the floor. Does Not fit the narrative. The best part was watching the LCLC head lawyer complain about having to actually work afternoons. She bitched and moaned about the hours. She had no problem monday morning quarterback the arresting Officers and the Youth Detectives but didn't actually want to be present to talk to the "kid". She would rather work in her office Mon-fri looking at paperwork and criticizing it. This is how most Social workers will be. They talk a good game but don't want to work the hours or get into the trenches.
