No Shit Fred (UPDATES)
This story fell apart faster than a Blackhawks winning streak:
A shooting incident that wounded two people at a Chicago White Sox game over the weekend most likely involved a gun going off inside Guaranteed Rate Field, the interim Chicago police superintendent said Monday.
Two women suffered gunshot wounds as they sat in the left field bleachers of Guaranteed Rate Field during the Friday night game between the White Sox and Oakland A’s. Officials have so far said little about where the bullets came from, or if someone brought a gun into the stadium, but interim Superintendent Fred Waller on Monday said investigators have nearly ruled out the possibility that the shots came from outside the ballpark.
The Slum Times also wonders why the game was allowed to continue:
Chicago’s top cop defended the decision to allow Friday’s White Sox game to continue after two fans were struck by gunfire in the bleachers, but he still couldn’t provide a clear explanation of what happened three days after the alarming incident.
Interim Police Supt. Fred Waller told reporters Monday that investigators have “almost completely dispelled” a theory that one or more bullets were fired from outside the stadium, wounding two women.
“But we’re still looking at every avenue,” Waller said after a police graduation ceremony. “It’s still under investigation.”
The reason the game was allowed to go on was 100% political and 100% the ball-less command structure of the CPD that couldn't even implement an existing emergency plan.
Let's review:
- an "ear witness" heard a pop;
- two people ended up wounded;
- we haven't seen this published anywhere yet, but we have sources who claim the woman refusing medical attention for a "graze wound" to the abdomen was actually a powder burn.
Think either "fanny pack" or more possibly "fat flap."
As in "where the small caliber handgun was secreted." That would explain the abdominal wound. But the media, so unwilling to do any heavy lifting, ran with the "Shotspotter" alert from a mile-plus away.
Now, some questions the media should have asked days ago. Did the person actually go through a metal detector or a physical wanding? Or is there a security door that employees and VIPs go through without being searched that this person made entrance through? And how politically clouted was the person getting the gun inside?
And we didn't even go to J-school.

In any case these “happenings” keep occurring all over the city. A wise and prudent person would make the decision to stay out of the city entirely as it doesn't feel good, to get jacked, robbed, maimed, shot to death. One night you could be at a venue or dinner and then windup at the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab learning how to catheterize yourself after becoming paralyzed. You will be in fine company with the rest of the shootees some of which are on their second tour there. And people will say you were just in the wrong place at the wrong time!
If you have ever been to a game with a large belt you know you can conceal metal with your hands. Set off the “mags” your asked to place both hands over your belt buckle and POW no more activation. I don’t know why this isn’t out already but the MINS was done on this incident the night of for everyone to see. It says two male Hispanics were arguing and using gang slogans while between the two victims. They both started shooting and fled the stadium after.
Now if it was an off duty police that had that gun, we would already know his or her name, where they worked, how long they have been on, and every complaint made about them.

Yes...I just retired. Retiring from CPD is easy...but retiring successfully is quite hard. Start being proactive and your outlook now will be so so much brighter. 1) Start travelling around the state and country to see where you want to move to. What's best for some retirees may not work for others. (I always thought Florida was gonna be my final home but I moved to Indiana and love it.) 2) Get your financial and medical needs in order. Workout and get your Def Comp together. 3) Get top-notch tactical firearms and first aid training because we don't get any in the CPD. Thunder Ranch, The Site or Tactical Response will provide life-changing training you will need once you retire because remember...a retiree is on their own without backup. All 3 of these will take up years of your time so take control of your post-CPD life now. Good Luck.

Apparently, a very comfortable exempt pension is not enough. He presently isn't getting the big job at CPD, but there are other big jobs here and elsewhere he could be given. Being seen as confrontational or free-thinking would not be helpful.

I stopped working security at the ballpark about 10-11 yrs ago. They were starting to push some coppers out and utilize civilians more as security then. Don't know what the ratio is now.

Really? CPS troller, I know many teachers hired after 1999 that live in the burbs. As you know, if you fall in line with CTU voting, protesting, and picketing (they have sign in sheets), you’re protected and don’t have to worry about residency. If you cross CTU in any way, shape, or form, you will be found guilty of violating residency and fired.
I’m told about 5%-7% of teachers live in the suburbs. CTU says just pay dues.

There's only one Graham School employee on the most current CPS residency waiver list, it's Graham's Case Manager for Special Ed kids. lol. you can't make this crap up. She lives in Maywood. She's only 42 so she's too young to be grandfathered-in with the old CPS Residency Policy (you can live on the moon if you were hired before 11-20-1996). The case manager was born in 1979 or 1980 and graduated HS in 1995 or 1996.
Did the Graham teacher call the CTU 'jackpot' line and got BJ to help her?

There's a list of up to 40 CPS employees violating the residency policy that's been out there for 4 years now. I'm hearing none of the violators have lost their jobs. A redacted list is on Twitter.
CPS OIG and CPS Investigations know and do zip. My neighbor. former CPS teacher, has the list and it includes 20 employees at Steinmetz HS. I seen it. The neighbor said you might normally find 1-3 of each school's employees violating the residency policy. But the amount of violators at Steinmetz is through the roof.

You really believe that?? Excellent recruitment and retention? Lifting residency will somehow magically make CPD a well run department, ya think?
1. When diversity (83 percent minorities in the latest graduating class) and merit is king (look at the merit promotion lists) and always will be in Crook County.
2. When the command staff is made up of merit given not earned entitled asshats.
3. When the bosses and the city will throw you under the bus even if everything is done right. A socialist mayor, everything politicized, migrant crisis, people on the job hate it. But yet applicants will flock to apply if they just don't have to live in the city they have to work in.
4. When CPD is closely monitored by racist police hating thugs and socialists (i.e. COPA).
5. When the criminal justice system in Crook County will protect criminals but not victims and law abiding residents all while they tie the hands of police. And of course criminals never do crime outside the city. Driving is fun especially on Chicago's Expressways. Of course criminals never shoot at each other or random cars, so no worries for wifey and the kiddos traveling about. And the liberal public schools in the burbs are just wonderful. A mecca of indoctrination, the teachers unions know better than you do.
The Safe-T Act will apply to every place in the state. Entirely eliminate cash bail. Illinois is a criminal paradise. But hey applicants won't hear about the crime or any of this bad stuff now will they. Migrants in the police stations, no problem you work in a sanctuary city. The mayor wanting the suburbs to take in migrants, well maybe it won't happen or be around where the new recruits live, maybe not the park across the street that have tents and busy unwashed entrepreneurs trying to make a buck one way or another.
6. Morale circling the drain. High taxes and predicted to rise higher in Chicago and the burbs. 85% of Illinois communities lost people in 2022. Perhaps it's how the state is run and by whom.

There's only one Graham School employee on the most current CPS residency waiver list, it's Graham's Case Manager for Special Ed kids. lol. you can't make this crap up. She lives in Maywood. She's only 42 so she's too young to be grandfathered-in with the old CPS Residency Policy (you can live on the moon if you were hired before 11-20-1996). The case manager was born in 1979 or 1980 and graduated HS in 1995 or 1996.

I worked Housing South during the time Waller was the Commander of 005. He showed up at a few of my crime scenes and I found him to be very cool and approachable. He asked intelligent questions then allowed us to finish our job without any interference from him or anyone else.
I appreciated that, and him for not being the typical, "I'm on the scene now so it's all about me". I'd work for him anytime.
This (our) dept is a fuking disgrace.

It's cool you found happiness here. I moved to Indianapolis after retirement and looking to move to Tennessee in a few years. Living in Marion County is expensive and it's a myth about lower taxes. It's costing me 428.00 to renew my plates, and I drive a Jeep Grand Cherokee.
To those of you thinking about moving here, remember that your pension WILL be taxed, and you will be nickeled and dimed on property taxes.
It would have been more of an incident and more dangerous for CPD and Fire if they would have called the game.

Bridgeport has no involvement with this crime of the magic bullet. The Graham School is completely within the boundaries of Canaryville neighborhood. Guaranteed Rate Field property north of 35th Street is part of the Armour Square neighborhood. The Guaranteed Rate Field proper and adjacent property south of 35th Street are part of the Wentworth Gardens neighborhood. Bridgeport does not claim this instance, but we are waiting for the fat lady to sing!

So someone is shot, the bullet went through the thigh, into the calf, and settled in the ankle, was still in their leg. Someone else gets grazed, but it looks like a burn. Someone else picks up a bullet laying on the ground and takes a picture this pristine bullet that looks like it was never shot and gives it to security. No gun is found. Doesn't seem too complicated......
I watched this video over and over. I see the two women jump simultaneously. Watching and replaying the only other people in that whole section that move at the exact same time are two guys in the same row immediately to the victims right. Theres about 15 vacant seats between the people shot and these two guys that rock side to side at the exact same time as the people shot.

The suburb departments degrade former CPD/lateral CPD officers in their ranks majority of the time in front of you, or behind your back. Don't believe me, ask any guy/gal who lateraled and came back, ask them how the other agencies "appreciated them" and "respected them." Same shit, different name, fuck them and their high priced suburbia paycheck. Atleast in Chicago PD you can ride with your chosen partner and handle your calls without people shit talking to you because you weren't Day 1(insert shithole suburb/department not CPD) or micromanage you to the bone. But I will say there are SOME agencies who respect the lateral CPD officers in their ranks, but those are few to slim pickings.
