Nearly a week after two women were injured by gunfire while attending a White Sox game, team Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf dismissed the notion that someone could get a firearm into Guaranteed Rate Field.
Addressing the media Thursday about team issues, Reinsdorf took up the shooting mystery that has perplexed Chicago for days. He said he has spoken to police leaders and they told him they have not ruled out that gunshots fired outside the stadium landed in the bleachers and injured the women.
“They’re still investigating. I don’t want to get into specific facts while they’re investigating but have really done a deep dive into this and I don’t see any way in the world that the shots could have come from inside the ballpark,” Reinsdorf said. “Let’s let the police continue with their investigation. At this point all the superintendent is prepared to say is they have not ruled out that they came from outside the ballpark.”
The one woman has retained counsel and is refusing to answer questions. Because why would you want to find the person or persons who shot you?

First, Riensdorf is a clown. Second, I’ve been to a couple of sox games off duty and carried my weapon concealed into the game. Same with Wriggly. I’ve been wanded by some security schlep and he never said I thing to me. If he would have caught it I would have identified myself. I’ve also attended a concert at the old Charter One and had a security guy actually pat me down and touch my weapon but still didn’t notice it. My point is, it’s very easy to bring a gun in. Security doesn’t really do a stellar job checking.

They use to have between 50 and 70 off duty officers working a game. More when they expected sellouts or big crowds. You’re lucky to have 15 to 20 off duty officers working now. They increased the pay trying to get more officers to work but no luck. Guys making to much in OT.
Sox have trouble finding people to work like other sectors since covid. Government paying people to stay home! The lousy$25.00 an hour to deal with the drunks doesn't help!

Yes. I have said this for many many years.
The involved parties are all posturing for money. The Sox are off the hook if bullets flew in from outside the park.
And on a side note what are the chances two rounds fired up in the air, over the wall and into the same section striking two people that close together?
The lady shot in the thigh is sitting on a golden ticket. From what I’ve experienced working at Sox park and the UC, any injury is met with an offer to keep the incident as quiet as possible.
I’ll bet her lawyer and Reinsdorf’s team are already in discussion. Maybe her lawyer sees a bigger payday if it can be proved lax security allowed the gun to be missed. Perhaps they have to convince the person who snuck in the gun to own up, take the hit, but get something at the other end.
Maybe her lawyer is getting the lawsuit prepped but he’s not sure if he wants to add the mental trauma of his client missing Vanilla Ice.

It was all a misunderstanding. The injuries were from that .380 water bottle cap that flew off when someone filled the ghost bottle with air and twisted the bottle.

I'm still trying to figure how a .38/9mm/.40/.45 can travel from over a mile away, jump the walls of the stadium and then has enough force to graze one person and then hit the other in the leg. Now if your talking about a BMG .50cal or a .338 Lapua, I can see that causing damage from a mile away but again jumping the walls of the stadium. This doesn't pass the common sense smell test.

The person sitting in the row in front of me asked "was that a gun shot I heard right now" and then I said (with a nervous side eye glance) Nah silly guns are not allowed in the park it sounded like someone filled a water bottle with air and then twisted it until the cap flew off. Watch the video. The two women are just sitting there watching the game when they both simultaneously jump. To there right (your left) there are two guys in the same row about 15 vacant seats over. Both of those guys jump at the same time as the two women. Then their looking at each other and at the two women at the end of the row. The more I look at it the more it looks like the two have something to do with it if you know what I mean.
The obvious reason Reinsdorf is saying no way the bullet injury came from a gun inside the park is long term civil liability.
If he were to open the possibility that the gunshot wounds were the result of a gun being admitted to the park by lax or negligent security, then there would be hordes of people with laceration injuries that they would allege came from inside the park and demand a settlement.
That's why the person that brought the gun into the park is lawyering up and is not being leaned on too heavily.
Everyone wants this incident to sink away quickly and quietly.
It’s almost looking like they came from outside the park. She had no powder burns to her skin or clothing. GSR to her waistband, belly and hand area was negative. The wound into the leg is closer to the middle of the through and the exit is closer to the back of the thigh meaning the bullit came from a high trajectory infront of her. The woman grazed was infront of her standing which makes sense it grazed her in the stomach as she stood and continued downward behind her into the Second Lady’s leg. All gsr are negative.
