Travesty

They might let this cop killer out of prison:

  • A man imprisoned since 1976 in the shooting death of a Chicago police officer could be freed this year after an appellate court panel set aside his 200-year sentence as excessive and ruled that his chances for parole were unfairly denied.

This decision comes after decades of failed appeals by Ronnie Carrasquillo, Travesty65, who was 18 in 1976 when he fired into a gang-related melee and killed Officer Terrence Loftus, who was in plainclothes, trying to break up the fight.

In a 27-page opinion, an appellate court panel ruled that Carrasquillo should be resentenced based on changing legal precedents regarding how youthful offenders are treated and how mitigating factors, such as prison rehabilitation, are considered in sentencing.

The biggest "changing legal precedent" in recent years is the denigration of the Policing profession and political hatred of Police Officers labeling them as sub-human, unworthy of protections.

Crimesha vigorously opposed letting a cop killer go:

  • ...State’s Attorney Kim Foxx told the parole board she no longer opposed his release...

Way to go Crimesha. Still the criminal's bestest friend. Busloads of coppers have made the trip downstate to oppose this shithead's release for years now. Last time, he was denied parole by an 8-to-1 vote. Hopefully that continues.

I'm sure Mayor BJ and the CTU showing their support of the police will oppose the release of this killer.

Is Jennifer Koniarski related to Barbra Streisand? I heard Jennifer Koniarski was related to Kim Kardashian and Chloe Kardashian? Maybe Jennifer Koniarski is related to Russell Brand? Is that true?

“Don’t get killed in Illinois” should be the the state’s model. Your life will be robbed and there will be no justice. You will be victimized and just tough luck on you. In Texas they give the death penalty. Here they treat the victim like a fool. Constantly saying stupid crap like; “be Aware of your surroundings”. As if that will stop the criminals from doing their unspeakable deeds. I agree with being alert to maybe get the upper hand on the thugs and giving them a taste of their own medicine. Illinois is against the law abiding public. How about treating criminals like unwanted members of society, as their behavior warrants. Not as something to aspire too. Criminals are now the new in group with Democratic Politicians. The laws they enacted support that.

Not sure how essential being sentenced to life for killing someone is excessive. Most states have a mandatory life sentence for murder, but here in Illinois it’s very good to be a murderer. I just read an article on CEB Chicago where a guy killed a guy who was stopped at a red light because his car was too loud. The sentence was 25 years for murder and 8 years for Agg discharge. What a fucking joke! It’s no wonder crime is so out of control.

Perhaps if they still handed down sentences like this the world would be a better place. Sounds like he is doing just fine where he is at.

I don't see what's the big deal. He's 65 now, he probably won't kill more than 2-3 people after getting out.

The Question is whether 47 Years ( since 1976) behind bars is enough for MURDERING a CPD?
The Answer is NO!

Deterrence and Rehabilitation are nebulous concepts that cannot be discretely defined. Because they cannot be defined, they cannot be measured. Punishment can be defined and measured. And I say this Murderer needs more.
Incapacitation/ Neutralization/ Prevention of Crime can be measured and, in this case, was 100 percent successful : While in Prison, this Murderer has not killed anyone else!

This is in very poor taste. The young lady passed away several years ago form an undiscovered medical condition. Let the woman rest in peace.

I worked with Terry Loftus several times in the 017th District, nice guy, good cop. Too bad he got involved off duty in a gang disturbance but he was a cop and tried to do the right thing. His murderer should die in prison.

If there is peace after death, she's at peace.

You, on the other hand, are not yet dead.

Nor is the poster of the comment that displeases you.

So.

What else is new?
