More Money Wasted

This is from earlier this summer:

  • Only on CBS 2, we're hearing directly from the violence prevention and crisis response team launched by Gov. JB Pritzker in Chicago.

What have they accomplished so far? And are they making a difference? CBS 2's [...] has been asking about this team for months.

The group of 30 has been at work in Chicago since CBS 2 first started asking about their work before Memorial Day. Cedric Hawkins is one of those workers. He said it can be hard to quantify violence prevention, but they are making a difference.

HeyJackass.com has us about 28 homicides short of last year's to-date total and just under 80 from last years grand total. All for the low low cost of $11 million.

Next year, they're supposed to get $30 million....with a projected budget deficit of over $500 million. And we all know how accurate government bean counters are.

Are they going to be assigned to all the neighborhoods?
Will they be multi racial teams?

Sounds like discrimination to me.

Over a $100 million spent on "violence prevention" programs and our elected officials cannot identify a single instance of violence that was prevented.

NOT ONE!

It's a program to buy votes, nothing more

Money wasted, you say?

That perfectly describes the membership’s dues money as applied to my employ at the FLOP.

When you go to illinois.gov to try and find any information they have it set up so you don’t get any where.
Yes what have they done, what violence did they stop, where are their reports, where are their expenditure lists, who is in charge etc. This is another big scam to distribute & hide the unspent Covid funds. You have to file a freedom of information request which they always deny then you have to go to court to sue which costs money. Great scam they have set up.

Since the comptroller's office shuts down every year for 3 months to play catch up. How will they ever know how much of your taxes they are throwing at government-made problems? Solution...raise taxes on the hard-working stiffs of illiNOis.

Wouldn't this be nice. The SAFE-T Act could make it too hard for Chicago to detain offenders. Residents can’t afford that when the city is already amid a violent crime surge. Chicago leaders should use home rule powers to create a city public safety act.

Someone should look at Philadelphia's Office of Violence Prevention. It seems its not working quite the way they hoped it would. It is sucking up a lot of $$$$ though!

We know how to do this. We’ve done it before. It’s simple, and like many simple things it’s hard:

1) Arrest people who do bad things
2) If they pose a flight risk or a threat to the community, don’t let them out before trial
3) Sentence offenders to serve appropriate sentences upon conviction (specifically, felons in possession of a firearm go to Federal prison for 5 years or longer)
4) Anyone who willfully and maliciously falsifies information in a criminal case goes to prison
5) Hold the police accountable for willful misconduct

I would also submit that parole should be abolished completely.

All we lack, sadly, is the political will to do it.
