Trial (UPDATE: Good News)
This one slipped under the radar entirely. We remember the shooting, but we didn't realize Crimesha had filed charges against the police:
Verdict later today, and lets hope the Chicago Police don't act like demonized yutes in Philadelphia if the verdict doesn't go their way.
UPDATE: Finding of Not Guilty at bench trial:
A Cook County judge on Thursday acquitted two Chicago police officers accused of shooting an unarmed man last summer in Pilsen and then lying about how it happened.
Judge Lawrence Flood ruled Sgt. Christopher Liakopoulos, 44, and Officer Ruben Reynoso, 43, were within their rights to protect themselves when they opened fire, wounding Miguel Medina twice on July 22 of last year.
“The officers were not the aggressors,” Flood said in his ruling from his bench on the fifth floor of the Leighton Criminal Courthouse. “It’s Medina and [a juvenile] who approached [the officers’] vehicle.”
The audience in the gallery of the courtroom, packed with supporters, officers and police union officials, erupted in applause at the verdict and had to be quieted by a courtroom deputy.
This case was so weak that even Crimsha's office couldn't win with a fixed case.
Fuck Crimesha "Clown" Foxxx.

This whole incident was a hot-mess. Two of MAUI’s brightest playing gang enforcement and who for whatever reason decided to let rounds go down range…then put uniformed units arriving on scene in a trick-bag by lying saying they were shot at. This is what happens when merit clowns attempt to show us “dogs” how “police work” is really done. With co-workers like these who needs enemies?
Hate to say it, but these guys are likely fucked.
1). They lied from the beginning
2). They tried to cover up that lie
3). The events in Philadelphia will surely influence the verdict
This should be a lesson to all the hard chargers who haven’t yet learned when to put the blinders on. Save playing police for when it matters, not when driving past “suspicious acting” hood rats on the way to IST. And if you absolutely just HAVE to play police off duty? Remember what they say: “the cover up is oftentimes worse than the crime”.
Both decent guys.
I hope they come out unscathed and reinstated.
A lot to ask, I know.
kim foxx will prosecute coppers to the full extent but let felons run freely, just like when the Republicans talked about crime in chiraq and she denied it typical democrat delusional and lying! But you get what you vote for or you get whatever happens after the "late votes" come in from the gimme that we need more folks/people!
They stopped to help out. Tried to do Police work. Now they are fighting for their freedom.
There’s video. I’ve seen it. This should never have been charged.
The officers saw the offenders trying to break in to a closed business. They stopped to investigate. The offenders did not run away or even walk away. Instead the two offenders approached the officers car in an threatening manner while armed with a handgun and the officers took action in fear of their lives period. This isn't the military. We don't have to be shot at to fire on offenders who are armed and threatening our lives.
Just here for the paycheck guy is 100% correct with "the cover up is worse than the crime" quote. I knew that 30 years ago and still applies today.
Dont play poleece off duty. Call it in and keep it moving UNLESS its something happening to you or your family

And what have we old timers been telling you pups for years?
You’re rolling the dice every time you do anything proactive. Save that shit (if necessary) for family, friends and loved ones. Everyone else gets an RD number, VIN, DIN and a faux sympathetic ear while I’m scribbling out the paper.
Policing died several years ago. The writing’s been on the wall with ample notice and regular updates. You shoulda been paying attention and reading between the lines.
You have to adapt to your environment, kiddies. And currently it’s all about self preservation. The thickest of you retards are still out there humpin’, bringing in absolutely useless numbers for “bosses” who’ll disavow any knowledge of requests for activity when things go sideways. Newsflash! Your paycheck remains constant whether you check off with activity in every box or bring in goose eggs.
You’ve been warned countless times. Figure it the fuck out already.
Lil Kim doesn't charge criminals.
Had to wonder how that sgt went from an administrative assistant sgt (what ever that is) to a unit commander and then go to maiu
Somehow Srgt Mohammed gets to shoot unarmed black autistic kids and keep his job. Maybe color has something to do with it. Or being barb west bestie.

Spoken like someone who doesn’t know the whole story of what actually happened….
Well, if this doesn't discourage anyone from wanting to be a CPD officer, nothing will.
"Criswell predicts" A massive decline in new recruitment by CPD. The ranks will shrink to even more unsafe levels and crime will continue to increase. Lawlessness will turn common, and gangs and "warlords" will assume the power vacuum and establish criminal enterprise from one border of Chicago to the next.
Can anyone else see it? Anyone? This is not going to get any better. Get out now!
Being soft can have devastating consequences
Both decent guys.

Seriously?? CL is the furthest thing from a decent guy. he has stabbed so many people in the back to advance his career it's not even funny. He has done so many shitty things, it'd take several threads here to cover them all. If it weren't for his phone call saving him, he would've gotten jammed up and bounced out of his cushy spots a long time ago. I wouldn't trust a single word that comes out of his mouth. Karma was bound to catch up with him. I hope they beat the case, but I hope it's an eye opener to CL to quit being such a piece of shit.
I only wonder what assman009 thinks about this or was he on one of his 75 smoke breaks?????
The Greek is getting his Karma in the form of a shit sandwich
A judge on Thursday found two Chicago police officers not guilty of unjustifiably shooting an unarmed man in Pilsen in July of 2022.
Cook County Judge Lawrence Flood handed down the verdict in front of a courtroom packed with police and other supporters of the officers just days before he is set to retire on Saturday.
“I find both officers acted within reason in firing their weapons under these particular circumstances,” Flood said.

ACQUITTED.
NOT GUILTY
NOT GUILTY
NOT GUILTY
Judge retires in just a matter of days. He knew he didn't have to go along with the narrative, and he didn't. Not guilty, as it should have been.
Comments 4-6 on the money. 1 and 2 you’re f’in idiots.
Glad to hear these 2 aren’t going to prison. However; SGT CL should read the writing on the wall. Not a bright dude. Even after the Dept. hid him, he still steps on his dick. They need to stick this goofball SGT at bulk storage with that other wack job of a SGT.
Not guilty.
Thank god they were acquitted.
They didn’t lie. And there was no coverup.
I was absolutely shocked by the verdict. Good for them.
Will there be riots?
Some people need to get their Black Friday Shopping done early. There is less than 90 days until Christmas.
Congrats to the officers
It’s a very sad situation what they are going through
good luck with copa
This was the police doing their job and when things went sideways, Foxx charged the wrong people. I know, it’s shocking. People can have personal opinions, but don’t manufacture falsehoods. Any Officer doing their job can be subjected to this malicious prosecution.
The trial and evidence proved this was never a case. Please know the facts before spreading rumors. Anyone could be Foxx’s next victim. It could just come down to a street stop.
Not guilty! Yay!!!
Still going to be fired. Boo!!!

She also said the Republicans came here and were just trying to draw attention awayy from the potential government shutdown. Yeah, that's it! (/s) She is despicable.
May God Bless them not the city must do the right thing reinstate full back pay, and God willing they can get a lawsuit for the city stripping them!
seems to me they were charged because they lied.
"we thought the first kid had a gun so we shot him." not the best scenario, but understandable, and not a lie.
13 months of hell I'm sure.

He was never a unit commander. He is Costello's ball bag holder. He put him in Fugitive and then he put him in MAUI.

You are correct, I did not make it clear. He was a sgt used as a gopher for a unit commander then went to maiu. My mistake

Wrong! Costello got stuck with him because CL had a phone call that topped Costello. He should’ve been dumped several times but his phone call saved him. CL is a cancer because he thinks he can do no wrong. Glad he’s not going to prison but karma finally came around and it’ll hopefully teach him a .
Funny story about the Greek Sgt. Has a take home car with soft plates. Ran up so many tickets on it and never took care of them. He gets detailed to an event at Navy Pier but is scared to park the take home there because of all the tickets he racked up. So what does he do? Steals an M Plate from a unit squad car and mounts it to his take home car. Old timer who checks his vehicle every time out reports the missing plate. He ended up getting caught. What his consequences were, unknown? Shortly thereafter, this shooting incident unfolded.

100% true. A case report was generated and an Admin Message was sent out citywide about the missing plate. Plate readers picked his car up blowing red lights with his newly acquired M plate. But because the Greek has a phone call, it all got swept under the rug.
I'm glad these two merit hacks won't be doing prison time but you can watch the surveillance and POD video of the shooting and I think we can agree we never learned any of these tactics at Use of Force. {snicker} If that's what they consider a deadly threat and good shooting I'd hate to be in the booth next to these two at weapons qualification. The fact is no one who responded to this incident wanted to be anywhere near that case or arrest report. Period. The federal and civil lawsuit will be less forgiving.
