The theater is in full swing now:
Mayor Brandon Johnson’s choice to be Chicago’s next police superintendent sailed through a City Council committee Friday following a hearing where the South Side native and 31-year Police Department veteran delivered the progressive administration’s most strident support for cops yet.
Chief Larry Snelling, the department’s current chief of counterterrorism and a longtime instructor at the training academy, received unanimous support from the council’s Police and Fire Committee. His confirmation now heads for a final vote Wednesday, when a special council meeting will be held.
The standard company lines about "doing better" with officers' mental well-being....after years of destroying it:
Asked by Ald. Angela Clay, 46th, how he would support his officers’ mental health after a spate of suicides within the department, Snelling stressed: “These are human beings.”
“I saw them through civil unrest and I saw what they dealt with. I saw the names that they were called. The yelling and screaming. I saw the 16 hours (per day) they worked, dehydrated, hungry, sleep-deprived,” Snelling continued. “They responded the way the city needed them to respond to stop the city as a whole from burning down. They were taunted, and then they went home and then got up and came back to work the next day to do it all over again.”
He finished with: “Again, there are a lot of things that we can do better as a police department. But we have to support those people who are standing between those who will do you harm, because they’re the only ones who will stop them.”
Do you also remember when Snelling was stripping officers of their stars and credentials for refusing a "vaccine" that has turned out to have almost no curative powers, no long-term immunity benefits and countless myocardial side effects? We do. Better remember it in the upcoming months, too.
So now we have to see some actions - and the recent past history of being a chump who just followed Groot's orders is fresh in our memories. That's going to take a lot of effort to counteract.

Snelling was the one who stripped me for violating a (bogus & illegal direct order that had NOTHING to do with my job or my duties), a nearly 30 year (29 yrs & 9 months) veteran of this police department and I was forced to retire under duress because they stopped paying me & took away my health insurance. I lasted about 3 months. Even a P.O. who screws up BIG time & who is possibly accused of committing an actual crime still gets paid until there's an investigation and some kind of ruling.
Nowwww he's concerned about officer's mental health? What a friggin' joke ge is. Thank goodness I am a psychologically very strong person or maybe I might not be here because of that whole situation. I can see where it might've pushed some people over the edge. Everyone from Lightfoot down screwed with every single person's mental health on this job. I hope they all go to hell and suffer greatly for what they've done to us. I'm so friggin' bitter over this whole thing! And, no, I don't feel any better having vented all of that...Unforgivable & Unforgettable

I’m afraid he could be the worst Supt ever. He seems very ego driven and obviously a yes man if you look at what he and his fellow backstabbers did during covid. People with solid beliefs, core values and integrity would never have done that to cops during Lightfoot’s forced vax rule. And if he’s slightly intelligent he would have seen that our government and Lightfoot lied about what the warp speed vax did. NOTHING! Everyone saw vaccinated cops and the entire world still getting sick with Covid and spreading covid. But all the exempts were full steam ahead forcing it on cops. These exempts could have said, “I’m not taking part in this. I’ll go back to Lt.” But no. That’s too mediocre for them.

I will never forget! The worst time on the job for me. I had Covid twice with very mild symptoms. I’m healthy. And I saw all the vaxed people still getting Covid and spreading it. But Lightfoot didn’t care and the exempts carried her water for the gold braid pension. This was pure evil and madness. This ended up being the final straw for me and I decided to retire instead of continuing to be abused. I haven’t set foot in Chicago since the day I retired and hopefully never will again. The place disgusts me. Hopefully no one trusts these exempts ever again. They have no self respect.

Ummmm…if you think Snelling will say “no” to BJ you’re greatly mistaken. Just look how he acted during Lightfoot’s forced vax mandate. Snelling is a young healthy active man who would never need a covid vaccine especially knowing it didn’t prevent covid. But he still got it because Lightfoot said??? Or did he? I always found it suspicious that not one exempt was against the fake vaccine. Did they get the “wink wink don’t worry” from city hall so they would toe the line?
I’m pretty sure I just saw a pic of Snelling with a star and 2 bars on his sleeve. That would represent 30 years on the job. He came on in 1992, which would add up to 31 years, except, didn’t he take a 2 year leave of absence? Those 2 years don’t count toward time on the job. Why would someone misrepresent time on the job?

Me too! I didn’t want to retire but had to under duress not knowing how long and how many vaccinations Lightfoot and the exempts were going to force on us. I missed out on healthcare retiring before 55. I feel like there should be a class action lawsuit over this. Many of us lost benefits.

If you felt compelled to retire rather than take the jab in regards to your religious exemption being denied (along with hundreds or more other coppers) find a labor law attorney who might want to pursue it. Then - since FLOP won’t / didn’t do shit with it - get ahold of GP at canine. He’s got all the proof needed to show that the process was 100% arbitrary. CPD was discriminated against in percentages of approvals vs. EVERY other city agency. Other agencies had 70+% approvals and we had less than 1%. He’s got HR’s template where those sycophants tasked with approving or rejecting religious exemptions were told to “use your judgement”. He’s also got their numbers by agency. Again, totally arbitrary. If this works for you I’m sure he’ll be happy to help and provide the ammunition. A class action would be ideal so the more, the merrier.

Me saying: I do not wish to divulge my personal medical information into a, more likely than not, non-HIPAA compliant city portal system is my business and I should be able to refuse giving out that information without being punished. Plus, I shouldn't need to get an exemption (medical or religious) to be able to refuse a medical procedure done to my body without facing termination or have to retire under duress. I was also under 55 when I was forced to retire under duress, therefore knocking me out of the insurance benefit. A rep from the pension board referred me to this company where you can get cheaper deductibles & out-of-pocket amounts compared to the UNafforable care act insurance from the marketplace AND you can sign up any time. I just signed up & it's legit. SCC, this I am not SPAM or a bot and I am NOT affiliated with this company, I am a fairly new retiree (2022) and all I'm trying to do is help out some forced retirees in that age gap, like me, to try to get somewhat affordable decent health insurance. He could have said “no thanks” and then waited to see if Lightfoot would demote him back to Lt. Is being a Lt that mediocre? Still a very nice pension. They put themselves before the troops. The abuse cops have been taking from this city has been none stop.
You really believe that’s how it works when the Chief of Patrol gets the order to cancel days off he says “no thanks” and waits to be demoted. Or the Supt is told to go to 12 hour days and he says “no thanks”1

The poster wasn’t talking about saying “no thanks” to canceling days off or manpower related matters. It was regarding cops to be injected with an experimental unnecessary ineffective vaccine or be fired. There’s a very big difference pal.

Brown was drinking the Kool Ade and in job protection mode. The First hid in the background and let Skahill do all the dirty work. The rest of the exempts were all threatened with insubordination and loss of not just their title, but their jobs in whole if they did not follow along.
