The Bidenville / Brandonville / tent city hasn't materialized yet and we're due for our first freeze overnight. Here's how the City is addressing this manufactured "crisis:"

a cooler turn, there's a growing sense of urgency at Chicago's City
Hall to move thousands of migrants from police stations into shelters.
While officials eye the iconic Marina City in River North for a new
migrant shelter, another winterized encampment is one step closer to
becoming a reality.
On Monday, Chicagoans – who know what to expect – bundled up amid chilly temperatures, but many new arrivals will be experiencing the cold for the very first time.
The CTA is now providing warming buses during certain hours at the migrant bus landing zone near Clinton and Vernon Park Place and 16 police districts across the city, but long-term solutions are desperately needed.
"We have minors in police stations and in the streets, this is an emergency response," said Ald. Byron Sigcho-Lopez who represents the 25th Ward.

Monday morning, the Committee on Housing and Real Estate, which Ald. Sigcho-Lopez chairs, signed off on the city's plan to purchase land at the corner of 115th and Halsted.
The former Jewel parking lot could become a migrant base camp built by GardaWorld Federal Services, but South Side community members are pushing back.
And that's not the only "repurposed" land:
- An old department store near Ford City Mall on the Southwest Side could soon become a shelter as the city works to accommodate the recent influx of migrants who are being bused to Chicago, changing course on earlier opposition to the plan.

the House of Blues and the landmark Marina City “corncob” towers just
steps from their front door.
That’s because city officials are thinking about converting the Hotel Chicago Downtown, 333 North Dearborn, into a migrant housing facility, Ald. Brendan Reilly (42nd) revealed in an email Monday. More than 1,000 migrants could be housed in the 350+-room operation, which used to be called the House of Blues Hotel and, later, the Hotel Sax, according to Reilly.
But given all this info pouring in, our rumor about those closed CVS stores doesn't look too far out there all of the sudden, does it?

Chicago is gonna be lit for the DNC. Has any neighborhood where they want to put up a shelter or a base tent camp not protested?
The mayors office is concerned that the migrants may be a security issue for the DNC convention. It may just be the citizens they should be concerned about the way things are going.

Biden Throws $45 Billion In Federal Funds To Convert Offices Into Homes
Taking aim at the nation’s housing crisis, the White House kicked off a multiagency push on Friday to help real-estate developers convert more office buildings emptied by the pandemic into affordable housing.
The initiative aims to harness $35 billion in low-cost loans already available through the Transportation Department to fund housing developments near transit hubs, folding the initiative into the Biden administration’s clean-energy push.
It also opens up additional funding sources and tax incentives and offers a new guide to 20 federal programs that developers can tap and that offers technical assistance in what can be tricky and expensive conversions.
A third part of the program will see the federal government draw up a public list of buildings it owns that could be made available for sale to help bolster development.

The only time I ever saw a warming bus was when some space heater went nuts and burned down a house, then the Red Cross or Salvation Army showed up with a "warming bus". City never paid for that shit.

I love how there are Cta warming buses parked outside police stations. Migrants do not use them because they think it is a trap and they will be deported. Bus operators are getting paid overtime to sit on an empty warm bus all night. If that is not the Chicago way, I don’t know what is.
There is a solution cheaper, already built throughout the city, and heated: Storage units. They are secure, safe, and come in various sizes available to fit one, two or ten people at a time.
Just need to add portable toilets on site and some sort of shower installed in a few units. Could have saved tens of millions.
But, then again, elect the rightful victor of the 2020 election, this time by a fraudproof landslide, make that one correction, and they could all fit right where they belong, where it's warm, and where they all can't be refused entry- back to the country of their birth. WILL COUNTY - Joliet Township has announced it will no longer ask for a grant to house migrants. This comes after an explosive meeting earlier this week when residents claimed township officials were trying to sneak through an $8.6 million grant deal.
Why isn’t Preckwinkle getting any backlash on this? Where’s she at? Plenty of empty space in cook county suburbs. Shopping Malls alone would go a long way. Lots of empty stores and land.
