Ray makes noise, but accomplishes nothing at all:
- A series of City Council crackdowns have failed to stop drag racers and drifters from driving in circles and figure-eights on Lower Wacker Drive amid a crowd of spectators and posting video of their stunt driving on social media.
Yeah, because we all saw the aldercreatures downtown, pulling over cars, throwing down stop-sticks, towing vehicles:
Ald. Ray Lopez (15th) says it’s time to try something different. He wants to hold parents and legal guardians responsible for the mayhem and require them to undergo “licensed family counseling.”
“We have children who are out of control causing 90% of the problems, particularly as it relates to the street takeovers, drag racing and all of the other illegal activities,” Lopez told the Sun-Times.
The ordinance that Lopez introduced at Monday’s City Council meeting would make it a crime for any parent or legal guardian to “willfully and/or knowingly allow a minor in their charge to engage in a host of offenses wreaking havoc on the quality of life in Chicago neighborhoods. Those offenses range from panhandling, underage and public drinking and cannabis use, violating curfew and “climbing on” cars to street takeovers and drag racing.”

Those are weasel words Ray. You're performing an act, claiming to be "passing Laws" that will "crackdown" on non-demonized yutes, and it will accomplish exactly zero. You know why?

That will be the response to any and all interrogations of the parents. After all, you can't keep an eye on your kids 24/7 and you can't always control the bad choices they make. Now, if you authorize the actual use of stop sticks, flatten their tires, take their cars and charge them a grand for misbehavior, you'll get their attention.
Remember when the city started sound impounds? Remember how quiet it got for a year or two afterward? Massive tickets, fines and impound fees made an impression on the miscreants and they stopped being assholes for a while. Of course, enforcement was "racist" and discouraged after the spineless bosses and politicians caved to the mob.
We're going to guess Ray is running for mayor in three years after BJ fails.

Ray Lopez is one of our biggest supporters out there. He goes up against the Socialist caucus constantly. Always talking about the Migrants in the stations, and numerous other things that affect us. A Google search will show you is looking at the Senate. Maybe try laying off the people that support us.
The only way this could be enforced would be if the parent was present, which is never the case

Most of these things are already illegal. Many years ago the powers that be decided that locking up juveniles was not rehabilitative. This ideology has been a disaster. They have basically decriminalized criminality and attacked law enforcement.
They wanted body cams. This is what you get, police sitting on their hands out of self-defense.
The Sox are done for the season. Put up a course using jersey barriers. Bleachers and ticket booths in several of the parking lots Charge a car entry fee and all proceeds go to help house migrants. Let the little bastards contribute.
Many of these street racers are over 18.
These cars being used are all 800 hp Challengers. Even the 40 year old males would be paying a fortune in auto insurance premiums just to be on the street with them. Males in their teens and twenties would face about $8,500 in premiums for just the basic coverage with $1,000 deductibles. Maybe checking with the drivers, owners and co-signers for compliance with insurance laws could reduce this dangerous nonsense!
Ray Lopez just likes to get himself on Fox News. He could have run for mayor this time but got paid off by Screwy Chewy so he could be the only latino candidate. Lopez is just another zero Democrat.
Nothing will change because of all of you democrat politicians. Lightfoot and BJs words have consequences. The criminal element knows you are on their side. They know nothing happens to them in court. They know Pritzker passed a law keeping them out of jail during their cases. They know the politicians and the media do not support the police. No. He does not. When it comes to "supporting the police", I want actual concrete, real and tangible support. Not symbolic support with words and social media posts.
I've talked to Ray Lopez, Sylvanna Tabares, Nick Sposato, etc... I've asked them if they would sponsor bills to fund our police pensions.
Each and everyone of them said no. They were bullshitting me and I refused to take vague answers. Alderman Lopez was the best bullshitter. Alderman Tabares asked me to now leave and the others came up with excuses.
As an experiment, go ahead and email each of the so called pro police alderman. Ask them if they will sponsor a city law to fund our police pension? Go ahead and find out for yourself.

38 years ago on this date 17 Oct 85, Cook County Sheriff's Police Officer Michael W Ridges #380 was fatally shot during a traffic stop of
3-M/1 suspects in suburban Prospect Heights.
P.O. Ridges is the son of the late Captain John Ridges (CPD) and brother of retired Sgt Jack Ridges (CPD).
Investigation revealed that P.O. Ridges had in fact heroically interrupted these suspects attempts to carry out a bizarre murder for hire plot orchestrated by the at-the-time, City Clerk of the City of Chicago.
Appreciation again, to now retired CPD 016 Dist. P.O.'s J. Kucharski, T. Ochocki and D. Tabaka who apprehended these suspects as they fled back to the City.
It seems enforcing the law against black people is racist. No mention of the fact that most of the cops work in black areas and every traffic stop is well documented. We are back to " driving While Black". Write everyone a citation and that should stop some of the media noise for a bit. The city and by extension the CPD leadership just do not want to enforce what is considered minor laws as they tend to discriminate. Then, have the balls to go to Springfield and have these " minor" laws taken off of the books and explain why.
